The wind noise!!! So I own a 16 LS460L executive pkge - I purchased at 22k certified from Lexus. No road or wind noise at all. Ever. Once I hit 60kish I noticed a lot of wind noise from drivers front window. After looking into it I found the window molding up in the drivers front window in the corner next to the mirror was deforming and starting to wither away. Wiggled it back to place and went silent again. Brought to lexus and had them replace drivers front window molding (not covered as a wear an tear item) whatever 200 bucks later and problem solved perfectly until it withers away again lmao.. So hope that helps!
Although the electronics and gauges are outmoded and the joy stick still there. I bought her Certified Pre-Owned last summer and Lexus refused to give me or install Apple Car Play. Cheap solution? Got a knock-off cupholder insert cell phone holder for $19 and let Siri guide me through bluetooth. Keep the LS reviews coming! I can't handle in and out of SUVs due to knee and hip surgery, nor a Corvette etc. LS460Ls are fabulous if you can find one, apparently owners are hanging on to them. Back seat passengers often fall asleep, a compliment.
As for squeaks and whistles, not to be confused with rattle noises, I’ve found silicone cleaning of tracks and rubber is key maintenance that resolves such noise issues.
I once owned a 2008 LS600hl that I bought used in 2011. I too, had experienced wind noise on my driver side, luckily I bought it as a certified pre-owned and with extended warranty. Glad you had suggested both points to your viewers, because repairs on ultra luxury car using genuine parts by authorized dealer can be expensive on newer cars. The dealer sent my car in for a test drive by Lexus noise engineer and they finally did a replacement of windows sills. After which, wind noise is much improved and acceptable on highway. I think the earlier 2000's LS 460 models which don't have acoustic noise insulation front windows and windshield will have some kind of noise. In 2016, I bought my current 2010 LS 460 with air suspension, ride is much better controlled and doesn't has the pillow soft, bouncy ride and body roll of a boat compared to the regular steel suspension of LS 460 ( which I happened to test drive before choosing one with air suspension ). I've enjoyed your video reviews of current LS 500 and LC 500, surprised to know the LS 500 F-sport is quieter without the wind noise compared to the regular LS 500. I think at some point, I might change to a 2016 or 2017 LS 460 F-sport, instead of going to the LS 500.
Yea my friend it seems to be all over the place with wind noise some models have it some don't. Some viewers said that the higher trim LS models like Luxury trims don't seem to suffer from wind noise but it is strange for sure
Only just got around to seeing this great review/post. Any updates on your air suspension? Because I’d prefer that option but read so many comments about issues. Any other tips you have as of today? Any issues with the control arms etc?? Cheers 🍻👍
@@dibaz1 I've owned my 2010 Lexus LS460 for seven years now, and still driving it daily. I've clocked 75K miles so far and only needs oil change, battery, tires and brakes maintenance. I didn't have control arm issue. I would definitely prefer air suspension to the regular steel spring suspension. I think the newer 2016 or 2017 Lexus LS460 would be a better choice over the 2010-2012 generation. I heard leaky coolant, control arm issue are some of the common reported problems of the 2008-2012 era. But the newer Lexus are more expensive to repair or replace. Back in 2019, I had a crack on my front windscreen, Safety Glass, quoted a mere $1000 original factory parts price if I had to replace the entire front windscreen. But a 2017 Honda Civic or newer Subaru Legacy with a lane keeping would cost upto $2000 plus $500 calibration! I end up having my insurance company paying just $50 for the tiny crack repair. One note, last year September, 3 weeks after oil change by my mechanic ( non lexus dealer ) whom I've used for six years, I heard the AC fan was working really hard and loud. I didn't pay much attention, soon after while driving on highway, the display shows engine overheat warning and asked me to pull over. I noticed the coolant was below min mark, so I filled it to the max. After filling the coolant tank every 2 weeks for 2 months and took it on a long road trip, the low engine oil light warning appeared. I had to drive to nearby hardware store and buy two 5 quant containers to fill up the empty engine tank! Despite these, my Lexus survived and engine still running strong...I think the mechanic must have forgotten to fill in fresh engine oil after draining the old one away! As for the coolant, I never had to fill up as often anymore but there might be a tiny pinhole leak somewhere. So a Lexus is a Lexus, it is built to last. If I were you, and prefer an older lexus ls460...I would be careful to look how many previous owners, how often the car changed hands, if the vehicle is regularly serviced and never miss important service schedule.
I just bought a 2017 LS it had the option with all black interior even the headliner all black suede. It’s one of the nicest cars I’ve ever owned. I get compliments every where I go.
I've owned a 2017 LS460 for almost a year. I have also owned 4 Mercedes Benz over the years. I love the car, but it does have the most creaky suspension and brake pedal of any car I've had. The dealership, however claim to never hear the noises. I do not have the wind noise you're referring to.
I ordered a LS 500 2018 ( V6 ) my previous vehicle was a 2006 Gs430 ( V8 ) .I have no wind noises and the 416 horse power is all I need in the new car . My problem is Staying within the speed limit 😁
I have 2017 f-sport 460 and don't have any wind noise.I sold my F-Sport Gs-350 which was great but 460 a couple levels better. The Gs had problem with trunk springs and Lexus told me live with it since new springs would break in few monthsThanks for review!!!
Last year I bought from copart 2014 ls460 AWD 117k miles with rebuilt title of course it’cost around $17K till now and I am so glad and happy with it 😂😂
Great video ... however you don’t “whip” a LS460 around or gun the engine off the line every go. You just cruise in it..I’ve had the 07 LS460.. now the 15 LS460 They fixed the control arm issue on the car from the 2012 - present. They make the v8 for the big suv 470 etc .. great video word of advice like my Granpa told me “ drive like your old” your car will Love you for it. Great car great video
In comparison a mint condition ls430 is about the same price even more expensive than a mint ls460 from 2007-2010. Was super close to getting a 460 but I’m glad I got the 430!
I’ve never had a big issue with wind noise in my LS460 it could have something to do with buffeting around the wing mirrors as that can cause whistling or an increase in wind noise it could also be attributed to the door trim around the windows but that’s really all I could think of for it
Great review of a great car. Absolutely love the sound of that V8 engine. At my work I had a Land Cruiser V8s but they sounded pretty bland, also because it was an armored version. Soon we gonna have times with tiny engines and electric cars, so might the last chance to buy what a real car should be! :) Have and had Mercedes (the E-series, W212, has been very reliable but the ML spent more time in repair shops than the road). Next car going to be a Lexus for sure.
Get ready for years of trouble free service from your LS. I have a 12 LS, with 179,000 miles and no problems ever. It still mint condition. Of course, I take care of it with routine maintenance
Love your comment about the Genesis G90- haha. I’m crushed b/c some nimrod made an unprotected left turn in front of me causing an accident - totaled my ‘08 LS460 I bought new. This video has me thinking I need to turn on the search for a 2017 LS….thank you so much!!
Dam Kev the lexus freaks came out for this one! 🤣🤣. I just got an 09 LS but I'll probably eventually get the 17 when I'm bored of it. I can't imagine the tt v6 being as pleasurable as the v8. You're right about the wind noise though.. my ls is whisper quiet outside of that. Sucks that they didn't fix it this gen
Haha yea gotta give the fans what they want. Nice I like how timeless the 09 LS is that car will never be dated in terms of looks. The 17 is a nice upgrade for sure and you're right the smoothness of the V8 cannot be replicated in the TT V6. I've heard from some viewers that the higher trim LS models don't suffer from the wind noise issue which is strange but might be true
@@MeynMotorGroup good to know. I'd like to eventually get the L or 600h. I got 4 years of warranty left on the 09 so hopefully by then the prices come down
No, never heard the wind noise. I own 2 of this exact same 2017 model and trim. 1st stolen and found and totaled. Now the 2nd is preowned, very hard to find a good one. Both dead silent and silk smooth.
Luv my 15 ls 460l awd executive package very rare I’m never selling will be a classic 20yrs from now the last of the v 8 test drive ls 500 hated the twin turbo v6
I have a 2013 LS and I haven’t noticed any wind noise. I love love love my LS, but I have an itch for a LC 500. I would be getting rid of my LS for the LC. I know you have a LC and with your experience with LS do you think I would regret getting rid of my LS? Also could you fit a person in backseat of a LC?
wind noise just needs the rubber to soften up, start applying a light coat of vaseline or some good rubber preservative. It might takes several treatments, but it works. Had the exact issue on my 2007 LS 460L...gone now and ultra quiet....BOL!!
I still think the GS350 F sport still looks better in the Lexus sedan line up. Even though this has a v8, the v6 in the GS is just as fast. Interior is very similar to the GS as well.
Watched while my 2010 LS 460 Sport is in for a checkup: brake pads and tires need attention. Your review persuades me that everything good about this LS has been preserved and likely improved to a some small degree. Mine has relatively low milage for its age reflecting my retirement and cessation of commuting and long trips to northern islands. Should I ever have to give up what I have, it looks as if the 2017 or the 2016 with low milage still would be the way to go. Over time, though, I worry that competant maintenance and parts might become hard to find.
This my exact car. Same color and everything! I do get some wind noise from the driver side but nothing major. The dealer calls all the time trying to buy it back but I’ll never sell
I think it’s possible the Lexus you’re in may have had its driver side door unlocked with an air bladder. My GS went from silent to loud after that event for me, and my 13 LS460L is tomb quiet at 120k miles.
@@8651102ed I also waiting for Stingers and G90s to further depreciate as I make my choice between used luxury cars for the next decade. I don't need a car. I can wait for the right deal. I liked the very simple style of the pre-spindle grill LS460.
2017 was the ultimate year for the LS... the new and updated 12.3inch screen software along with the v8 and old but classy body style. My dream would be a 2017 LS460L with the adaptive headlights (triple projectors not shown on this model in the video) and full backseat package. Great videos man, keep pumping them out.
Hi Kevin, on the market for an LS 460 since watching your videos. What range on the odometer should i be looking for is 50k okay? Also which years should i be looking for? 2015-17? Ill appreciate any advice you give me!
Anyway i like the grilles on the Lexus sedans, I think it fits well. But on the suvs not so much, especially on the lx looks way too over styled. Rx right at where I draw the line, I currently own one.
That's understandable many hate the grill altogether no matter what vehicle it is on I like the character and aggressiveness of their grill. RX has a very distinctive appearance due to it!
Love your reviews! My bud that works at Lexus of Orlando told me to keep my 17 LS460L and to pass on LS500 until the totally new ones come out in 2023. Says 500 is cheapened and less luxurious and corners cut. This puts me in a quandary. My 17 LS460L has 25,000 Certified Program miles and a joy. Should I keep her and wait? I am counting on your input, please. Thanks, Bob in Vero Beach, FL.
I love my 15 crafted line f sport I purchased with a salvage title was a obvious insurance job claimed water damage I rolled the dice got it in 18 saving me 14 grand never looked back and I love it so far only problem was front air strut is making noise but that was human error I hit a whole busted my tire car is awesome awd a beast in the snow definitely a great car
Don’t have any air sound on my 2014 LS460F. And I certainly notice the air suspension at sport ++. and yes I have put in 25/26 hwy mpg avg 80/mph going to LV. I didn’t know that drag co efficient was that low.
It's just a sticker...every dealership does it..except around here Johnson is a prestigious dealer so people don't mind having that sticker/license plate on their cars
I first watched the (08 460 or close) video you did. I just missed out on a 08 with 137k but i might get a 2016 f sport version someone else was selling(they posted it and removed it twice) they said it's hard to part with it, (which i understand) Got about 150k miles. He is not posting it anymore and he's going to send me the Carfax. I may be able to get it for 18.5k ( I'm in northern CA.) What are your thoughts? I've owned the 07 is350 (loved it) besides the space factor and I really love the is-f & the gs-f are my first choice but can't get one for a reasonable price with clean title - I'll only buy clean - My question is - is the 2016 much better in your opinion than the 08? I was super bummed when I lost out on the 08 ( it was owned by older couple that took excellent care of it. I'd be paying about 10k more for the 2016. Should I just wait for the right gs 350 to come along? Or pull the trigger on the 2016? What do you think?? I really like your videos man. I am a subscriber😊 Keep up the good work!
The 2016 LS is truly an epic vehicle I understand your yearning for wanting to buy that car. I will however caution you this is a flagship luxury car and outside of a warranty, this will be very expensive when it comes to repairs and maintenance. If you can afford it so be it but if not, the ES and RX might be a better choice and still great driving machines. Here's a full buyer's guide video I did on the LS: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gr38jTmlZ5U.html Also, please keep in mind this is a overinflated used car market with high interest rates, considering a new refined car might be worth it as well. Thank you for your kind words and support, God Bless!
So that noise from the driver side window is something that you just going to have to live with because it's it's in every car it's in my Lexus when I get up to a certain speed I hear this mild whistling coming from the window I actually think mine is coming from the windshield I think that's in every Lexus except for the LS 500 I haven't heard it in that yet
I don't see how Lexus thinks a V6 twin-turbo flagship can compete with the twin-turbo V8 flagships from the Germans. The new LS now seems to be dialed down a notch competing with the E class and 5 series especially since the GS is gone. Lexus needs to wake up and stop this idea that they can be a premier luxury brand by pumping out more and more FWD crossovers and small/weak engines.
Well TT V6 wasn't ever supposed to compete with TT V8s it was supposed to compete with V6 offerings from the Germans, S450, 740i, Base A8 V6. LS500 Produces over 100 hp more than these cars that was Lexus' target market
@@MeynMotorGroup Right that engine does compete with the German 6 bangers but then again its barely faster than any of them even with the HP/TQ advantage. My point is that Lexus made a mistake by not offering a 500+HP V8 to compete with the V8s from the Germans.
Idk if they actually will make that TT V8 some say they will but others say it won't happen. Either way the population of people that can actually afford a $150,000 TT V8 500-600 HP vehicle is less than 1% so i guess it doesn't really make much business sense for them
I previously owned an 08’ LS460 and loved it. Considering a CPO 2017 F-Sport due to the paddle shifters, a huge deal for me. Seeing some here in and around LA County for high $30k- mid $40k. What are your thoughts? Thank you! 🙏
😂😂8:19 to 8:57 the wind noise and people getting on Kevin nerves lol ..hey Kevin to be honest I think it’s has something to do with how Lexus and Toyota place that drivers window in on some of their vehicles.
Thanx bro for the suggestion bro if that’s the case on something that small Lexus should fix that I mean who wants wind noise in a perfect luxury car seems like Mercedes doesn’t have that problem and always double pane their windows on their flagship cars
So yea I think I might have forgot to mention it in this review but this LS and I think basically every LS has very thick double pane glass. So I know the glass quality is good but something about it is not sealing right I think that's the only accurate assumption because these are very solid and quiet cars otherwise like there is no tire noise with these cars
i own a 2017 LS 460 but i'm not happy with the ride. it has the optional 19' tires. i think the ride could be better. would 18' improve the ride or is a waste of time?
Well from that concept you can have 2 cylinder with 15 turbos and get the same result. The point of a V8 is not sheer numbers if you want numbers EV cars have combustion cars beat 100x over. The silky smoothness and the sound a V8 will never be replicated by V6 or 4 cylinder turbo cars its not something a spec sheet can explain 😉
Any thoughts on financing a 2017 LS 460 CPO with extended 10 year warranty from original purchase warranty? After test drive last week, I noticed a creaking type noise on steering wheel, while stopped and turning wheel from far left to far right and vice versa. Lexus dealer said that they replaced the steering column and should be ready tomorrow. Should i still follow through with the deal?
Not a terrible deal 10 year warranty is pretty good its a 2017 so it's got some more value to loose but you already know that since its a newer car. Lexus really takes care of you with a warranty like that you're absolutely set any issues that pop up will easily be replaced by them. Just make sure the warranty is pro rated in case you want to sell the car early
I bought a used 2016 LS 600hl with exec package. Amazing car... Buttery smooth transmission and solid built quality .. but there's that wind noise from the driver side window at higher speeds. Thanks for the insights.. Will get the window moulding checked.
@@MeynMotorGroup It seems not. But seeing what the rest of their cars are doing or burning up. Its concerning to say the least! I'm not a fan of the dealer experience or parts availability compared to Lexus, Lincoln, and Volvo.
@@MeynMotorGroup my 2010 AWD ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6vQtpOv7rGo.html I'd love to buy newer and faster but I guess I'll have to wait for Lexus LQ
@@murfhfhw3rh867 In addition to its new design, the LS also has increased body rigidity which enhances stability, and allows for a more comfortable ride. Pitch and bounce control has been enhanced by adopting new frequency dependent shock absorbers, resulting in an even flatter, road-hugging ride. Revised steering offers improvements in accuracy and turn-in response. The braking system has been adjusted for more immediate power and greater pedal feel. Safety enhancements include the industry’s most advanced Pre-Collision Safety (A-PCS) system with Collision Avoidance Assist. This available system is designed to assist the driver in avoiding or mitigating collisions with vehicles and pedestrians under a wide range of city and highway speeds. At speeds lower than 24 miles per hour, this technology helps the LS to avoid accidents by automatically bringing the LS to a full stop. The redesigned interior integrates modern refinement with intuitive technology. The Advanced Illumination System (AIS), an all-LED interior lighting system, illuminates to greet the approaching occupants and then fades in sequence with the vehicle starting procedure. The new, available Lexus Climate Concierge offers maximum comfort for every LS occupant. The customizable system uses multiple sensors to automatically regulate not only the temperature of the cabin, but also the climate control seats and the heated steering wheel, quickly bringing each occupant to their preferred temperature. The standard navigation system is displayed on a 12.3-inch, split-screen, high-resolution multi-media display which is large enough to support simultaneous viewing of a large map display and other vehicle functions. A next-generation Remote Touch, with one-push confirmation, is standard on all models and enables smooth, intuitive control of many vehicle systems. The Remote Touch allows the user to operate the climate, audio, phone controls, navigation system and more. The screen menus are selected with a controller conveniently located within easy reach on the center console. A number of well-placed buttons on the steering wheel and instrument panel enable the direct control of frequently used functions (e.g. temperature setting, fan speed, preset audio stations, etc.)
I will not buy new with pissy little engines. They won’t hold up and don’t sound refined and they just don’t do much better on mileage. I like 2013 and before except 07-09 LS.
@@MeynMotorGroup there is a RU-vid video on it. 36 days to get all the panels and steering wheel done. The video I saw is also of the same wood trim in mine and the 2017 you reviewed.
@@gkvogt Yeah it's much better than the other wood options....I originally wanted matte bamboo, but it's too much tan when paired with the flaxen seats. The shimamoku is a nice contrast.
I'm confused are we talking about luxury car or a sports car I brought my LS460L for luxury and cruising, If I want speed and handling I will go with a Corvette or Porsche 🤣🤣
We're talking about a detailed informative review covering the pros and cons of an expensive automobile so consumers can make an educated buying decision. That's what We're talking about. You'll watch phone reviews and laptop reviews to see geek bench tests or how it performs under heavy gaming, even though you don't care or do either of those things.
