J High actually US safety regulations do not prohibit suicide doors, the rolls royce phantoms continue to have them to this day. The actual reason for their demise is how cost prohibitive it is to employ them in modern cars due to stringent safety regulations. Its an engineering feat in itself; & that of course has to be paid for. Lincoln could of pulled it off & ate the R&D cost for increased prestige & halo status but elected for its pedestrian & cheaper door design.
The ‘60s continental was perhaps the greatest American luxury car of its time. Heads of state weren’t driven in caddy’s, they were chauffeured in A continental. I feel the modern continental fails to live up to the long shadow of the continental of the ‘60s.

I bought a Lincoln Continental Reserve today which is better than the 2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature I had. Mine has rear controls in the armrest as shown here plus many other things. I love my car plus like how the car handles.

I had a 2001 Lincoln Continental back in 2001. I loved it. It drove great, and had enough power via the 32v Aluminum 4.6L V8. being front wheel drive made it much more derivable for me in the white abyss that is a Michigan winter. The dash was cool with its Hologram like speedometer and tach, just the needles were real. The numbers and dials where projected onto the dash. I miss the car..
I have a 2016 MKX as my daily driver. V10 R8 is my fun car. of course I could buy and other car, but Lincoln has won my loyalty with the MKZ first, followed by the MKX. Great cars with even better service experience. Great video bro, you have become my favorite car review blog...

It's about time Lincoln makes a come back! Ever since the Cadillac ct6 came out Lincoln needed to prove there better and one year later they have proved it! We need to have luxurious American cars and now the Continental has put the u.s back on the map and now we can compete with the Germans.

Hello? Lincoln ran the TOWN CAR from 2003-2012 and that was the True Luxury car for Lincoln and Used by most Limo Companies! and Its Very Low Maintenance was its other biggest selling point!

I saw this at a car show last year and I love the front. I hope the update the "sunglasses" rear look though! The interior was surprisingly nice although the white leather was super blue just from people sitting on it for a day or two, so I hope the black leather is better. The optional front adjustable seats are impressive, the optional real seat features are nice and most materials were good too. I think in 1-2 years this will make a real nice used car, along with the G90.

Finally an honest opinion of the car. Im a huge fan and agree the switches need a major overhaul. They need to touch some classic receivers and mimic that for touch and feel. I have yet to test drive the CT6 so cant comment on compared ride but the Lincoln was buttery smooth the 3 ride control does make a diff.
You should look at the other camera if you're going to be switching to it. You give yourself many breaks to switch between camera 1 and 2. Then edit from there.

I had a long, 3+ hour coffee session with a Lincoln engineer a few years back. He was racking his head over why Lincoln, as a brand, is so unpopular. I was very frank with him. I told him that he needed to get with his product designers and start with their interiors. I told him that he needs to “theme” the interiors and to not be afraid to stray away from the boring beige, black, and gray interior colors that have more than worn out their welcome. Have you seen their blue interior?!? Awesome! Anyway, I discussed metals vs. plastics, things that drivers like and don’t like, how to improve the infotainment, and believe it or not, seat design. All I can figure is that he listened to me.

If I pay big bucks I want a cool looking european luxury, if you want to sell me your american butterbox you need to give me double the luxury and technology than the european slick designs and reknown. Sadly american luxury cars are going to die. I liked the Continental... but used/as new, at half the price.
I love ford, but another half-assed effort from lincoln. Interior is really very good. Exterior, looks fwd. proportions are off. Why cant we get something else off the rwd mustang platform. Plus you cant tell me a coyote in a rwd comfortable lincoln gt type car wouldnt be a great idea.

Very surprised he stated the ride isn't as good over bad roads as the Cadillac's or Genesis. If that's true..this car has failed..because the Continental's ride has always been it's main claim to fame.
What a beautiful car. See the base models here in Chicago as Livery cars in the hundreds. Every other Livery that isn't a suburban or Cadillac is a continental.
For $65K and up, I would just look at either a new or used Bentley, Panamera, A8/S8, or Quattroporte. Even the G90 sounds like a far better option than the Lincoln Continental; at least with the G90 I have the option to have a naturally-aspirated V8.
The 2002 Continental wasn't Lincoln's flagship vehicle at the time, so it certainly didn't cease being so and nor did Lincoln not have a flagship after that. In 2002 the flagship was the Town Car, as it had been from 1980 to 2011. The MKZ was meant to replace the Town Car as a flagship after 2011, but I would hardly call it a step in the right direction as it was inferior to the Town Car in many ways and also was not a worthy competitor to most of the competition from other luxury brands. The Town Car was old school American luxury and, like it or not, it played that role very well. The MKZ tried to switch over to European-style luxury, like Cadillac did years ago, but, like Cadillac, hasn't managed to best, or even equal, its foreign competition in that type of vehicle. The Continental seems to continue this modern problem with Lincoln as it rejects classic American luxury (the one thing Lincoln was known for and once excelled at) but fails to measure up as a European-style luxury car. If you want to spend $80,000 on a sporty, aggressive Euro-style luxury car, you can do better than this new Continental for sure.
Holy criminy....that badge misalignment at 0.11 and the wrinkled upholstery at 10:18 doesn't bode well for Lincoln. Detroit really needs to get its act together.
When I saw the Bugatti Chiron I thought that the headlights looked exactly like the Lincon's. But the Bugatti was the moat beautiful car I have ever seen. So this car has really nice headlights
