Let's not forget that convertibles are used for cruising and enjoying the sights. I never owned a car that is not a convertible, I driven a lot of cars in my life, but convertibles are something you love and not because they are the fastest or the safest, but because they give you a sense of hedonism, freedom and relaxation while cruising down the road,
yup, despite his shirts look like pizzeria tableclothes and that he talks italian (with his hands), he's funny and looks like he knows what he's talking about, i honestly like the show, thumbs up! ;)
Reason ? Sound! The only reason you get this car, is for power and sound. Let's be honest here, for driving on back roads, have some fun and listening to the glorious rumble, driving dynamics will probably be enough for most of us.
2017 Mercedes Benz C63 S convertible would be used as a secondary car. That car is not supposed to be a track used vehicle it's more of a GT car with the roof cut off. I live on Long Island New York so this would be a great car just to go out for a night on the town the weekend Cruiser.
I live in sunny Puerto Rico. I must admit that I don’t have the driving skills to drive this beauty nor the coupe to their potentials. Lack of driving skills not withstanding, I would buy it for the beauty of the convertible, the power and sound of the C63s, and frankly for the sum of it all: Mercedes, AMG, V8, Convertible, Drop Dead Gorgeous- Love that red top and so does my wife.
Doing a great job, It is really unfair at this point in time you having this number of views. you are the best of the best...nobody comes any close to how this man is doing his thing.
I actually think the grill on the non AMG version looks better than the AMG version, but oh man this car is beautiful. Love the coupe and the convertible, the sedan and the estate? meeh not so much. I'm from Oslo, Norway.
Hey MotoMan love your reviews. I live Sydney Australia on the Northern Beaches and have just taken delivery of my 2017 AMG C63s convertible. We have the perfect climate here for a convertible and I will be using the car mainly to cruise up and down the coast and check out the surf. I have previously owned an 09 C63 sedan and just traded my M6 for this beast. Love this car, would recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing one!!!
Having a convertible with lots of power means you can enjoy the best of your driving surrounding while listening to the growing of your car!btw z06 or c63s convertible!
Croatia side of Italy? Croatia is completely different country, on the other side of Adriatic sea. You are very good journalist, nothing escapes you. How could you make such mistake?
think outside the C63 box... If you love driving a convertible, and that's your number one priority, then why not have one with a power house up front and a great sound track from the rear :) yes it may be an engineering compromise to the sedan/coupe but the open air makes up for that, for those of use that love the top down.
nah man, we need the s models and the not so crazy regular ones. for many people the regular 63 is enough but for others who want a retarded 500 hp will go for the s. The black series if they ever made one for the W205 would blow any competition clear out of the water.
I would take the coupe version, just because the track option is there as a rare but fun aspiration. And too bad about all the rain. Beautiful scenery nonetheless. Writing this from the DC Metro area. Muggy and overcast. Thanks again for the great video.
In answer to your previous video on soft vs hard top, I live in Canada and feel as though a hardtop would be a better winter car vs the soft top. Note I've never owned a convertible, just perception and info from my friend's who have convertibles.
Hi Moto Man, I think that what Mercedes has done with this car is great, it looks great, is a convertible and had the power there when needed. In my opinion the c63s convertible only works because of the changes made the coupe version of the c63. I would still take the c63s coupe though because of an amazing track/daily driver it is. I am from New Jersey near Princeton University!
Thanks for your video. I am considering purchasing one of these. I am in southern California so convertible is a must with how beautiful the weather is most of the time. Currently have a BMW 435 hard top convertible. The noise that c63s makes and how it makes you feel isn’t something that you can find in a BMW M4. C43 is nice but it just isn’t quite the same as C63s. The only big downside/compromise is the ride and noise from the tires and harshness of the suspension as the roads in Cali are not the best 😅 so on the long journey is something to think about as we have a fair amount of traffic
E) All of the above. I want to be able to go fast AND look damn good doing it. If I pull the trigger, I'll be faster and cooler than most when I choose to. That's a good thought. Socal "kid."
waiting for him to talk about the comfort of the seats. And it never happened. So I assume it isn't that great. I'm getting one and having difficulty on deciding which seat to go with.
I was there both on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. if we get to Slovenia again - I will definitely post it up on Twitter to give everyone a heads up and you guys can show us around - would love to see more of the country - was a great unexpected surprise!
For me the C43. Plenty fast for our roads, lighter and uses a little bit less fuel. And the V6 have a nice sound too. Plus it have the new 9 speed auto. Now you know where I am from. Aaaaand the app on my Android phone is not cooperating anymore. So thanks god for that twitter and instagram and RU-vid...
Please work on adjusting the sound levels on your next videos. Otherwise they are great, but the lack of consistent sounding audio deters me, and I'm sure other people too, from watching. Thanks
I have the C63s edition 1 sedan and I love it. Sharing the car with passengers makes it more enjoyable. And the car looks great. I would have loved the coupe too but certainly not really feeling this convertible version. The reasons you've stated are pretty obvious and to me. This top is just plain hideous.
hey Motoman, out of curiosity since you've driven both the Coupe and the Convertible - how much louder is the Convertible on the inside? Is it to the point of annoyance? I have a Coupe on order, but a Convertible is really nice :P
It is definitely noticeable but nothing more than any other convertible in this class. The only convertible I have driven that is quieter is that Rolls Royce Dawn but that orders of magnitude more. Let me put it this way as a convertible guy - if you like all the aspects of a convertible, then do the folding roof. If you are looking for an occasional track car - do the coupe.
the sedan , by quite a bit. but the coupe has a reworked suspension and wider rear tyres and wider stance giving it better traction . the sedan spins its wheels a lot more .
Hard tops weigh more, are more intricate and take up more space. Nothing wrong with a soft top and these days they're so well layered and insulated anyway. Plus I think they look better.
Mercedes is again cannibalising its greatest Icon, the SL. S-class, c class, soon e class and AMG-GT convertible, who's supposed to buy the SL anymore, with its dated interior and still messed up proportions? they have prettier and more modern alternatives to Chose from in the MB line up. RIP, SL.
***** Im talking about the upcoming e-class, not the current one of Course. sure, the SL is a fantastic car, but despite ist heritage it's not a sportscar, it's a luxury cruiser, just like the S-class, so they are competing with each other. And People who want an open sportscar will soon have the Option to buy the AMG-GT. It seems I do know what Im talking about, dont I?
***** It's a bit tiresome to discuss with you since you're such a smartass, but Ill give it one more try. Of Course I understand the concept of filling every niche. What i was trying to say and what you could have understood if you were reading attentively is that the SL, the car the used to be the "sexiest" Merc for decades, cant Keep up with the other convertibles of the brand anymore, neither in the Looks Department nor when it Comes to the latest tech. Got it this time?
Would love to but at this point in the game, no real ROI. For a show that is bootstrapped by us - not a network - any advance in technology has to pay for itself rather quickly. While 4K is stunning, there is no financial return at this point in the medium return . . .
+MotoManTV ah I see. Sad though, remember that 1080p videos will be very outdated in a couple of years. A good 4k camera is not that expensive but I get your point. Thanks for answering:)
The cost of the camera is not at all the consideration. We already have a couple of 4K cameras. The real issues are two fold: The post production process changes COMPLETELY. Takes significantly longer which equals MUCH higher timelines for editing each episode which equals significantly higher real costs. Additionally, to be true to 4K, you can not use any older footage within those episode. Combine that with the fact that there are VERY few people that have devices capable of taking advantage of the true 4K experience. So in short, yes, we have looked long and hard at it but the investment is way more than just a camera. At some point, we will make the switch but again, there has to be an ROI for both us and our viewers.
+MotoManTV thanks for the long and good answer. I agree, the game changes quite a bit when you go over to 4k. I encode a lot of 4k videos myself and it takes way longer of course. Could be 6-8 hours of just encoding when doing 4k/60. I totally get what you are saying.Just dont wait too long before boarding the train, there are some car channels that use 4k these days, and I gotta say the quality is just awesome. Keep up the good work and again thanks for answering.
If you go H265 with 4k to 2k most people wouldn't see the difference. i. e 90% of RU-vidrs. Even with a 2k monitor playing 4k I can see the difference, so the push is a bit moot in relation to 'wow' factor..?
Very poor quality! The sensor failed to detect electricity pole 50cm diameter, my bumper was hit. showed the dashcam video to Benz, they said it's normal, you need give the final check by yourself they said you need to go to the court to have them to fix the problem.
Why this car? Because every now and then when your life gets complicated and the weasels start closing in, the only cure is to load up on heinous chemicals and then drive like a bastard from Hollywood to Las Vegas ... with the music at top volume... I couldn't think of a better car for a road trip and I think Hunter S. Thompson would agree. Track car? Nope. But who cares? Most people will never take their AMG to a track, even the AMG GTS drivers. If you're the type of person who is so concerned about track prowess, they will most likely be focusing the fast majority of their attention solely on perfomance, not luxury. Either you're wealthy enough to afford a few nice cars and a track membership (yet alone track days with any car) or you're not going to take it on the track at all. That being said, they may be the perfect car to drive like a bastard from El Paso to Bondurant racing school in Phoenix. Corvette replacement maybe? Definately!
Nice to see what the CLK grew up be haha. Personally I like the canvas roof, but a hard top would be to die for. Then the SL would be irrelevant...so I'll keep waiting.
When I look at the ugly-as-fuck hardtop BMW has put in the 3 and 4 series I'm very happy Mercedes didn't go that route. In The SL and SLK-application the hard-top looks good because it only has 2 seats to cover but I bet my left ball that a hard-top 4-seat Mercedes would look just as ugly as the 3 and 4-series convertibles.
+Mintberry Crunch you're very right about the sl, however with how many mechanical components that are in this ragtop it's pretty much all aesthetic at this point. Hell, the S class coupe is arguably the best roofline in the automotive industry. Mercedes could have figured it out if they really wanted. The C is a gorgeous car in this new design. I wonder what colors are on offer...

the CLK is the E-Class. They changed the name to differentiate it in the late 90's, but changed it back to all E with this generation because it got confusing. The CLK is the E Coupe and Convertible. The C has always been the C.
Osondu Marvis You've got a very funny idea of the human anatomy, an extremely limited knowledge of the English language, a very bellicose demeanour, and absolutely no sense of humour‼️ So, all in all, you're a pretty good guy‼️😜😜😜
It's the first time I've come across it, and I'm suitably impressed. I reckon I'll fit right in here, no problem. To be honest, I'm getting tired of TFL. It's losing its edge, and this guy seems very good as a presenter. I'll definitely be watching more of his stuff. Anyway, how are you exams going❓I trust you're excelling in all your subjects, and are setting the foundations for an outstanding academic career.
