Bravo CBS for not only revealing the bracket right away but for doing a much better job on the selection show compared to last years disaster, Bravo!!!!!!!!
@@StFidjnr I use to have it up but I thought think it got blocked like a year ago or something like that, I just checked the stats for the video and no one has watched it in over a year
This is how the selection show should be done. No Charles Barkley showing he knows college basketball about as well as Bill Walton, and it didn't take an hour to get through the brackets.
6:10 I remember jumping around in joy when my Gamecocks got selected after we got screwed the year before (Yea, I'm a Louisville fan, but I live in Columbia, SC so I still have hidden feelings for the cocks)
Interesting notes in South Carolina's run (from another UL fan) The matchup with Duke is notable because Frank Martin coached against Duke when he was at Kansas State in 2010-11. The Sweet 16 game between Baylor-South Carolina was the first meeting after Baylor won both meetings against the Gamecocks in 2013 and 2014 - as well as Martin's familiarity with Scott Drew). The Florida rematch is noted in that both teams split both meetings that season.
6:11 is when I broke down sobbing. I was so scared that they were going to have their bubble burst. I couldn't have foreseen that tournament with a crystal ball and an actual psychic.
Bracket analysis by region (part 4 of 4) WEST #1 Gonzaga/#16 South Dakota St, #8 Northwestern/#9 Vanderbilt - Salt Lake City, UT Nothing much really to note here #5 Notre Dame/#12 Princeton, #4 West Virginia/#13 Bucknell - Buffalo, NY Notre Dame and West Virginia were former conference opponents and were in the same quarter of the 2016 EAST bracket (#3 WVU lost to #14 Stephen F. Austin) #6 Maryland/#11 Xavier, #3 Florida St/#14 FGCU - Orlando, FL Both Maryland and Xavier met in the 2003 NCAAT (Nashville, TN, won by Maryland in the Round of 32). #7 Saint Mary's/#10 VCU, #2 Arizona/#15 North Dakota - Salt Lake City, UT Saint Mary's paired up with another A10 team (beat Dayton on the road months before) and Arizona facing another WCC team.
Bracket analysis by region (part 2 of 4) MIDWEST #1 Kansas/#16 UC Davis, #8 Miami (FL)/#9 Michigan St - Tulsa, OK Michigan St defeated Kansas in the 2015 and 2012 Champions Classic, and lost to Miami (FL) in the 2012 ACC-B1G Challenge (Coral Gables, FL) #5 Iowa St/#12 Nevada, #4 Purdue/#13 Vermont - Milwaukee, WI Iowa St and Purdue were opposite seeds the year before. #6 Creighton/#11 Rhode Island / #3 Oregon/#14 Iona - Sacramento, CA Creighton (coached by Greg McDermott) was the former school of Oregon's Dana Altman #7 Michigan/#10 Oklahoma St / #2 Louisville/#15 Jacksonville St - Indianapolis, IN Similarly with Indiana-Kentucky in Des Moines the year before, Louisville was paired with a Big Ten team they beat in a title run (which was a problem for Louisville given how they struggled against motion offenses that relied on ball movement (Virginia, Old Dominion).
Bracket analysis by region (part 1 of 4) EAST #1 Villanova/#16 Mount St. Mary's / #8 Wisconsin/#9 Virginia Tech - Buffalo, NY - Villanova was a #2 seed in Buffalo back in 2014 (lost to #7 UConn). Wisconsin/Virginia Tech pairs the Hokies with another motion offense team (beat Michigan in Ann Arbor months before) who Buzz Williams (when he was at Marquette) did battle with (Wisconsin) #5 Virginia/#12 UNC-Wilmington / #4 Florida/#13 East Tennessee St - Orlando, FL In Tony Bennett's first NCAAT appearance as coach of Virginia, his team was blown out in a 71-45 game against Florida (Omaha, NE - 2012) who figured out how to attack his vaunted Pack-Line defense. #6 SMU/#11 USC / #3 Baylor/#14 New Mexico St - Tulsa, OK A regular season rematch with SMU/USC and another Texas school in Baylor. #7 South Carolina/#10 Marquette / #2 Duke/#15 Troy - Greenville, SC Of note, Coach K. and Frank Martin met in Kansas City back in 2010 in a game which Duke won by double digits (Kansas St vs. Duke)
Bracket analysis by region (part 3 of 4) SOUTH #1 North Carolina/#16 Texas-Southern, #8 Arkansas/#9 Seton Hall - Greenville, SC Arkansas and North Carolina met twice in the NCAAT (2008, 2015) before this past year #5 Minnesota/#12 Middle Tennessee, #4 Butler/#13 Winthrop - Milwaukee, WI - Richard Pitino and Kermit Davis faced off in the 2013 Sun Belt semifinal which Pitino's FIU team put the Blue Raiders on the NCAA bubble (they snuck in because of non-con SOS) not to mention that the LaRon Dendy-led Blue Raiders from 2011-12 faced Minnesota (then coached by Tubby Smith) in the NIT semifinal #6 Cincinnati/#11 Kansas St, #3 UCLA/#14 Kent St - Sacramento, CA - Cincinnati beat a Big XII team on the road in OT (Iowa St) #7 Dayton/#10 Wichita St, #2 Kentucky/#15 Northern Kentucky - Indianapolis, IN - Obviously everyone remembers then #8 seeded Kentucky ending Wichita St's undefeated season (many back in Nov 2013 thought Kentucky would do what Wichita St did because of their freshmen).
well I know they are I'm saying people are doubting them whether they should be due to the fact they lost to duke twice. its not me its the brackets experts who think they don't deserve it. go and watch the selection Sunday video when they get to nc they will sy it.
well yes but earlier in the show they were saying they have a few problems but I picked them to win it all but I see some problems later on in the tournament
The weakest #1 seed is Gonzaga. Eventually a 16 over 1 upset is bound to happen. If it happens this year, Gonzaga would be the one to go down. I don't think a 15 over 2 happens again this year but all the 12 seeds have a great chance
Boy Jay Wright at Villanova would have to be pissed facing Wisconsin an 8 seed in the 2nd rnd a team that was 21-3 in mid February ranked in top 10 a lot of year before the late losses they screwed Nova, Wisconsin should of been at least a 5 seed or 6
I think this is the best year for the committee. I mean they're not perfect ever but my only minor complaints would've been them putting Michigan State and Vanderbilt in. Thank goodness Syracuse didn't get put in again, so they made up for last year's mistake. As a Florida fan it's nice just seeing them back in the tournament
Aside from Michigan State and Vanderbilt, who else could they have taken? The only two replacements I can think of are Syracuse and Illinois State, but they both had their own problems. Syracuse was 2-11 in true road games and Illinois State's only top-100 win was over Wichita State, who they got clobbered by in their other two meetings. I can't think of any other non-tourney teams with better cases.
Villanova should not have won last year. North Carolina took the Championship for granted. I was certain that Villanova would not return this year. I was right. KARMA!
Karma doesn't work like that but, whatever. Anyway, Nova took the chip back the next year, while UNC didn't even show up anywhere near the championship. So all was right with the world. 😊
Several inconsistencies within this bracket. Wisconsin should not be an 8 seed, neither should Minnesota be a 5. Wichita at a 10 is laughable, and Cincinnati and Smu should be 5 or 4 seeds. Also, something that has gone under the radar is how Louisville is a 2 seed, they won no games in the conference tournament. And you cant say the conference tournament doesn't matter, because duke doesn't get a two seed without winning it. Also think Arizona deserved a one seed over North Carolina and or Kansas, cant have the conference tourney help teams, but also not hurt them in a sense.
Explanations: 1. Wisconsin got an #8 due to no notable non-conference wins against Top 50 RPI opponents (best OOC win was against Syracuse), 2. Minnesota did have some non-con wins against VU and Arkansas as well as beating Purdue in West Lafayette 3. Cincinnati and SMU got #6 seeds due to the AAC being relatively weak outside of those two as well as the fact they got little out of non-conference quality wins 4. Louisville got a #2 seed (weakest #2) because their non-con SOS was in the Top 5 and had a number of non-con wins (Wichita St, Kentucky, Purdue). 5. Duke got a #2 (third #2) DUE to losses to Syracuse and NC State during the regular season. 6. Arizona got a #2 (second #2) due to only having a non-con win over Michigan St (UNC despite the losses to GT and Indiana had 10 or 11 Top 50 RPI wins) and the Pac-12 was only competitive within four teams (Oregon, UCLA and USC being the other three).
@@251to502 Wisconsin was 21-3 in mid February ranked in top 10 a lot of year before the late losses swept Minnesota finished higher in the conference.Wisconsin should of been a higher seed they were underseeded
Why #1 overall seed get Team like Duke in region and Westcoast teams got advantage not just seed pairing but region games #7 StMary at Salt Lake against VCU? and Creighton travel as #6 seed to Sacramento? shrink west location and add more East Central regions so it is fair for teams in tougher conference regions like ACC big east Big 10 Big 12 etc..
bucky468 you dont get my point.. west teams are so rare compare to other, they tends to stay close to home even your seed is lower.. why not #5 in East or South.. it seems like west teams always play close to home even their seed is lower than others.. geographic alignment suks specially west cities.. useless should just have two cities at max so they also need to travel to east like east teams has to go to salt lake and sacramento
I see every year lower seed west teams placed in first 2 rounds in west cities cuz their fan travel?? really?? what about east teams who earned higher seed has to place in the west cities?? Every year I seeat least two but this year is an exception due to PAC12 three top teams..
That answers my question then. You don't The record is irrelevant if you actually look at the teams they have beaten, the conference they play in, and the fact they played in the Final Four only last season. Better stick to Checkers
btez31 WHAT. I understand that the acc is the toughest conference in basketball but 13 regular season losses and a early exit from the acc tournament disqualifies you for the big
