I bought the exact same bike, a brand new 2017 Ninja 1000 this past Jan 11th in NE Ohio. It was left over stock at a local dealership, and it was discounted by $2000. I owned a Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo back in 1984 while I was stationed in Norfolk Va. on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy CV-67. I will be 60 years old this September, and have been riding for 5 decades. This is one of the best bikes I believe you can buy for the money and for comfort. I upgraded my seat to the Kawasaki gel seat, upgraded the slipons to Leo Vince, and added all of Kawasaki's protective frame & engine sliders. I have just over 500 miles on the bike, and look forward to years of trouble free riding. Kawasaki's are rock solid bikes.

That sounds like you made an excellent choice. I haven't upgraded the seat yet. I'm still weary about gel seats. Not sure if I like the way they feel when taking deep corner. The best way I can describe them is squiggly, soft and comfy yes but that feeling makes me uneasy. Also thank you for your service .

Nice review. Good quality video showing a really nice bike. One very tiny criticism....kill the annoying repetative music in the background lets just hear what you're saying, and the sound of the bike.

Thanks appreciate the views... the music is hit or miss. I find some videos boring to watch with just talking some not so much. I was actually thinking about a new playlist with just riding and limited to no talking. Haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll just tune the background music down a bit. I rewatched the video...it's a tad louder than I remember.

Appreciate the fact that you said, you need to be seen! Just some advice, you should really think about getting a high viz jacket and high viz helmet. At the very least put a high viz vest on top of your current jacket. Because you are just a large blind spot with a black bike and all black gear! Ride safe! Sick bike!

Thanks for the watch and the comment. I have a high viz vest that I wear all the time. Just depends on how I feel and how late it is. Or if it's raining...check my profile pic. My favorite pic is me in my high viz. I dont wear it all the time but I do. Helmet I thought about it. Just didnt commit...and the bike says thanks. Dude you are a crack up lol ! Enjoy your videos. Just an observation, and im paranoid about it, and im not saying you didn't do this cause i cant see what you see, it just look like at the lights you werent checking for what potentially was behind you, made me nervous. I only say this as i am a nurse in the community and one of my patients was stopped like you and a truck driver on his phone run him over and dragged him 400meters only stopping due to cars tooting him getting in front of him and braking. Some how 6months in hospital and now me attending his dressings he lived to tell the tale. So if you werent being vigilant at the lights be vigilant we are sitting ducks there lol. I have green black version 2017, it is an awesome bike. Keep up great videos and be safe brother ☺

Thanks I appreciate you watching. And my head is always on a swivel. I even speak about it in a few of my videos. I also make good use of my mirrors. I've had plenty close calls and I cant stand when people are even within one cars length behind me.

@@bradhorne6552 Glad I could provide either. My friends tell me I'm funny always hard to see when looking at yourself. Sometimes I actually laugh at myself. I say some crazy stuff. Check out some of my other vids. Tell me what you think. May change it up next riding season. Still deciding. Plus I have one more vid that I've just been too lazy to edit and post.

Do they come with cruise? I was looking at one for long ride because the S1000RR and my duke aren’t great for them

Unfortunately they do not. But it's definitely a good bike for a long ride. I'm eventually going to get the Kawasaki bags for a a road trip just because it is very good for long rides especially with the windscreen position. May have to invest in a throttle lock for that same capability. There are several models on the market now. Buddy of mine has a go cruise on his z1000

What kind of maintenance did it need over the 10k ?

Honestly nothing much. I keep an eye on my maintenance schedule and at about 10k mark check the braking system, lights only thing that should have been checked which I was admittedly late on was the air filter and spark plugs. It should be checked at 11.4k and plugs at 7.6k but I ended up doing that in a later video. Thanks for watching.
