Not quite. Definitely the most reliable truck by far but even the famous million mile Tundra had two timing chain jobs and a tranny rebuild. Still an amazing accomplishment but those aren’t cheap maintenance items.

@@daniele.644 True but reliability is what I want. Don't want the AC repairs on the Silverado, the trans and lifter issues or the Rams, or the Ford's in general. I will take a tundra with having to replace timing belts and a transmission all day long to reach one million miles. All the other brands typically need a overhaul at 300k.

I know a lot of people criticize Toyota about being slow to advance with new technology but this is why they are ranked so high in quality and reliability...they let the competition build new and innovative components and watch them struggle to get it just right and then Toyota builds a new tranny with 8 speeds and it works from day one. I remember only to well how GM made me the guinea pig for that piece of crap Sierra i bot in 88...my Tacoma is so much better in quality that the Tacoma runs laps around GM and their pile of dog shit they sold me. Ford was no better...so now I am a loyal Toyota owner. My wife and I have now a third Toyota in the drive.

I love my 2016 limited with the extra features. The drivetrain is old but bulletproof. They are always claiming QDR (Quality, Reliability, Durability) for lack of innovation to a new system. Which is my biggest gripe with Toyota, how slow the move with changes. Note: that manual mode is not like an up/down shifting system. It only set the highest gear it will shift into. It will still automatically down shift.

You didn't show some of the coolest features! The rear window control was cool to me. I also love that you can set your brake control output for a trailer. It allows you more stopping power without sliding all over the road when carrying a heavy load. I also have more good things to say, but I don't want to flood your comments. Your cons about the Tundra were my sentiments exactly. The 2018 version corrected a lot of those issues.

I was a Ford guy but Toyota trucks definitely will outlast and have a better resale value then a f150. My first truck was a f150 then a Tacoma then a tundra that I just got this week , so far the Tacoma had no problems. I seen many tundras for sale and running with no problem with 500,000 plus miles or even more

The Japanese auto manufacturers used to be ahead of the curve with domestic brands lagging behind. That's not the case anymore, in fact it's Toyota lagging behind in technology and features. While Toyota spends years thinking about small updates, real improvements are already being put into production with our big three. The Toyota's have a high resale not because of mass appeal, but rather their fan base keeps the resale value high. Nothing wrong with that. However, I was considering a 4Runner thinking I could expect better mileage due to a smaller package than my Yukon, and the 4Runner having a thrifty V6. Well I was wrong on both counts. Way less horsepower in a smaller package and..........lower mileage! What the hell is wrong with that picture? Fan boys will surely have issue with what I am saying, but I am not a fan boy of any brand which is why I looked at the 4Runner. I even looked at the Tundra but the technology and features are way behind and there are higher horsepower offerings that get better mileage with better payload and towing by domestic manufacturers. My wife will be getting a new Yukon and I will be getting a new Sierra. I would be happy to consider other manufacturers such as Toyota if they could just catch up. By the time they finally have a mature, feature rich, platform that's up to speed in horsepower, mileage and payload they are 5 years behind the curve. This may be one of the reasons Toyota trucks are ranked number 4 in sales volume in the U.S. behind Ford, behind Chevrolet, behind Ram and behind GMC.

Most owners don't even know the system has controls, this is evident in many forum posts by owners. There should be a clear menu with separate switches or buttons for each mode.

I hate Traction control! Its actually dangerous! On my Corolla when i pull out of parking lots onto main roads and have to quickly accelerate as I turn onto the road, the stupid traction control kills all the power and I go nowhere even after the car is aligned with the road it still takes a second before the computer realizes that I am not turning. Absolutely stupid. Traction control is mainly for people who don't know how to modulate the power on slippery surfaces like snow, mud, rain, etc. I can turn traction control off but as soon as I reach a certain speed it turns back on again. Such a pain in the ass.

Phillip Cannatti I noticed that to. It was a little bit too much.

I enjoyed the video. I've had the opportunity to film myself (teaching, work, etc.) and I always have a good chortle at my own expense at what this week's 'nuanced behavior' is. Keep up the good work on the video content.

The off road 4x4 has the bilstein "trail tuned" shocks - Does anyone know if this is the same as the bilstein shocks with cooling reservoir?

I almost bought the Tundra before I got my 16 F150 5.0 XLT Sport Supercrew FX4. What sold me was the safety and the fuel economy. They really need to update that iForce, it's 10 years since it came out and nothing changed yet lol. It's a great motor but damn that thing eats gas like crazy, kinda like my old 5.4

Its old but it set the standard for years. When the 5.7 came out at nearly 400 horsepower, Ford was still pumping out 5.4's at 260 hp for years. Companies are just now catching up. I like having the dependability and peace of mind of a tried and true drive train that's held its ground in the market for 10 years.

electropentatonic Yes! This is what has turned me on to the Tundra.

To be fair, the Tundra has much higher transmission ratios to make up for the low rear end ratio. Their overall gearing is similar to other pickups.

illuminated dashboard lights are causing an epidemic of people not turning on their night lights, thanks to Toyota, this doesn't happen
