I’ve been out of work now for 6 months with Vertigo I’ve also been to every kind of doctor with no relief whatsoever…awful symptoms but this video has given me hope ❤ Thank you
My God, I'm experiencing this now and it's hell. You never truly appreciate your health until you lose it. I hope this is temporary. God bless those who have been suffering with it for years, what a nightmare!
Same. Vertigo is pure living hell. I got up this morning and it just started coming on. I did the Epley manoevre on both sides and when I got up it got worse so that I was just sobbing and crying out to God for help. I had noticed an eye tick recently and thought, I must take some magnesium. Then the vertigo. I have a magmin tablet in my mouth now, I hope it works. Are you better now Lisa?
I also suffer from vertigo and its day 5 with an attack. I just don't know what to do anymore...I pray as well that it just goes away..I wouldn't wish this on anyone :(
@@acemosthated5936 I am so sorry for you .I didn't know how much pain vertigo can do to people till 3days ago, I am was searching online to create a blog post on my website about vertigo and I came across this exercise program. I hope it helps you: bit.ly/15minvertigoexercises
i had a car accident where i was 7, crashed with my bike into a car's door and fell unconscious, woke up seeing my dad in an ambulance heading to the hospital. i had to be in the hospital for 2 weeks to get out and everything seemed to be healed and fine. but now 10 years later as i'm 17 now, i think the car accident damaged my brain in anyway. i get to be really dizzy whenever going on a bus trip, boat trip, sitting in a moving car for a long time, sometimes when working out and just whenever my head moves too fast or i spin my body for a couple of second fast i get the feeling of vomiting i become so dizzy that i just wanna lay down on the floor and i start to sweat really bad i feel really hot and i also had the feeling of falling unconscious a couple times. im really wondering now if i have vertigo or not, i googled if you can get vertigo from a car accident and it said that it could be a possibility but i'm still unsure. i'm going to see my doctor about this but i wanna know if anyone else has this issue too and the same symptoms as for feeling like you have to vomit, you get to sweat really bad, you feel hot headed and you get a spinning sight and also feeling like you will fall unconscious please anybody let me know what this is?
I really appreciate doctors like Dr. Childs. Someone who really wants to help people instead of a doctor that is just there to write prescriptions for people's medical problems. Out of the 750,000 practicing doctors in the U.S. at least there are a few that will give you the advice and help a patient really needs.
I have suffered from episodes of vertigo for years since my late 30s and this is the most comprehensive explanation of the different causes of vertigo. Thank you.
I can’t thank you enough for this video! I am 28 y/o and have been experiencing these symptoms for 3 years now. Seen an ENT, lab tests are fine, the mri’s are fine, and now I’m here sounding CRAZY. My doctor says that my depression could be why I’m hypersensitive or feeling all of these symptoms. The truth is that dealing with this for the past 3 years has caused my depression. I’m healthy, I’m a former model/athlete and I’m here googling and YouTubing for answers. Dr. I want to thank you for this informative video. I’m still going to find a doctor hopefully like you in LOS ANGELES. 🙏🏼
Hi this guy does not know the complete story about vertigo. If you're taking psychotropic medications such as a mood stabilizer like lamictal name brand lamotrigine great day cause vertigo attacks. It's not listed in the pharmaceuticals list of possible side effects ask Google or Siri or whatever VPN you prefer a specific question does this medication cause vertigo you will find the answers you will find many people dinner taking the medications you were taking with the same problem. the doctors do not know how to use the internet to find out the correct answers they read the first thing they see on the internet about the medication pharmaceutical companies have employees for the sole purpose reposting there side effects possible side effects so they stay at the top of the list the first few host will be posted by the pharmaceutical company you go down further you will find the answers you're looking for. it's not the doctor's fault completely they are being lied to and they don't know it there are being manipulated and they don't know it. Since this guy is not trying to sell us anything he doesn't know it but he's not trying to sell a medication so I think he's telling the truth he just doesn't know the right answers
If you're taking lamotrigine name brand lamictal it is the cause of your vertigo. If you're taking any mood stabilizer or any antidepressant you could be the cause of your vertigo it could also be the cause of short term memory loss and it is also a cause of self-loathing especially if you're depressed. Your medications the doctor is giving to you is designed to keep you from killing yourself not to make you feel better. if you're having these attacks paper up your medication slowly don't bother talking to your doctor about it they do not do the research they should. They read on the internet the top four or five articles which have been posted by the pharmaceutical company. They don't realize they're being lied to on a daily basis their entire career
I've been experiencing these symptoms for the last 9 months and I am also going through what you are, the doctors won't listen to me and just say it's anxiety and don't address the issue, they only give out medication, mainly for depression or anxiety as it's an easy option.
It’s when you get jealous of people just cause they’re healthy and functioning... not because they’re rich or so. It’s awful! This situation is totally preventing you from being your normal self.
You and your inspired information are a gift from God..I've struggled with this for nearly 40 yrs and the social isolation it brings..I've gone thru all the many symptoms, tests, brain changes, medical professional ups and downs, prescriptions, and at 72 yrs old, am still researching and learning to cope, adapt, and accept. You are a gift to all who deal with this. Keep sharing your knowledge!!
Sounds like me. Same age as you are and have had this on and off for 40 years. It comes on with no warning and is totally debilitating. I quit going anywhere too far from home for years, and I raised 2 children with it. Had to quit a job because of it, too. Sometimes I feel I missed a lot with my family, and I feel regret because I didn’t always get to take them on great vacations or do a lot of things with them. Fortunately, I had a good husband who filled in for me when I had these bouts. He’s a saint.,I functioned okay at home the best I could, but one time I had a bad spell of dizziness while driving and that scared me. I was very careful where I drove from then on, and had to white knuckle it when I absolutely had to drive to help my aging mother who lived an hour a way twice a week. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. I’ve had all types of dizziness, too. Some were definitely BPPV, and others were general imbalance, but some was room spinning vertigo. Cause unknown. I came to believe it had something to do with the coordination of the eyes and brain, as well as, allergies that swell the inner ear. As I’ve gotten older it still comes and goes, but I can manage. I’ve had a couple of rough BPPV episodes in the last year but the off balance still comes often, but I just try to cope. Otherwise, I’m in pretty good health, thank goodness. Praying for all fellow sufferers and us long haulers. God Bless. 🙏
Wow .... I’m crying because finally I came across someone who really gets what I’ve been going through and no resolutions!!!! I need to get to your office ASAP!!!!😔😣😢😢🤯😘🙏🏾😘
Me too no doctor could Ever found my problem but I don’t have vertigo but I’m dealing with hearing loss blocked ear only in one Ear ringing this video is touching little bit of Everything of my situation
You sound like a lifesaver! I have been told that I have BPPV many years ago. When I have those episodes I end up doing the epply maneuver and it usually immediately helps. My dad has Maniers disease. However, I resonate with all 3 of these, and will be contacting you soon. Thanks!
Awesome explanation of these problems! I've recently been referred to an ENT for suspected Meniere's disease. Long wait lists mean I'm trying to find info on the topic. This video was so great at explaining the various issues it could be. Thanks!
Best explanation I have ever seen! Didn't know it could be from different causes. Great video on vertigo! I had a ruptured brain aneurysm and now suffer from this.
I was Diagnosed with BPPV after going to the ER in Nov. In all my research regarding BPPV vs Meniere this is the most clear cut informative information anyone has put out there to date. But be careful about one thing, In all the research I studied: If you are diagnosed with Meniere's the state that you live in can/will take your driver's license away. For how long I don't know. My understanding is your healthcare provider must report your condition to the DMV. As always please do your own research on this topic as I did.
Thank you Dr Childs this is the most comprehensive overview of vertigo issues, and yes you are describing me and my issue unfortunately I live far away so won’t be able to come but your advice is very helpful and informing!!!!
Excellent video, Dr. Childs! Thank you so much for putting this on RU-vid. I have had 4 serious episodes of vertigo during the past 14 months, one lasting 90 days. This has involved a LOT of nausea, throwing up, clinging to walls just to walk down the hallways of my house, etc. Completely debilitating. I am currently NOT experiencing vertigo -- yay! -- but I never know when it's going to hit me again, so that has added stress to my life. I've had a brain MRI, a neck MRI, an audio test, a VNG test, physical therapy for 6 weeks with Epley maneuvers, etc. (which did absolutely NO good), and lots of medications. NOTHING has helped, and nothing has been able to pin-point where the vertigo is coming from. I was very interested that you mentioned the situation with patients experiencing neuropathy in their feet. I had neuropathy from 2012 until 2014 due to breast-cancer drugs/treatments. I still have little bouts with it, here and there. My Audiologist (who administered the VNG) also told me that the Mono virus can lie dormant in your system for years, and resurface much later, manifesting with symptoms like vertigo. Mono almost killed me in my Sr. year of High School, 38 years ago as I had such a severe case of it. Have you ever heard of this? I'm getting no answers, so am interested in this as a possibility. Thank you!
@@Nuverselive "sorta." After all those tests in 2017, it was discovered through a brain MRI that my carotid artery branches off like a piece of yarn from the ear up to the brain, winding around itself all over the place, instead of making a straight path like most people. I was told this *can* apparently minutely delay the blood-flow to the brain, and could have "contributed" to all the vertigo, though the primary cause was found to be my neck being completely out of position. (Discovered through chiropractic treatment.) Once I began having regular chiropractic sessions to put my neck bones back into place, the vertigo resolved itself, and I haven't had any since. I also sleep with a "My-Pillow," which helps tremendously! I'm a fine artist working in watercolor, so I LOOK DOWN quite a bit, and this was the primary cause of my neck becoming "disjointed." I now take more frequent breaks, and utilize regular stretches, in order to relieve the tension in my neck. Thanks so much for reaching out and asking! I'm much better now, five years later!
Thanks for your informative video. Am having major issues with balance, severe tinnitus, barometric pressure changes that wreak havoc with my balance. Waiting for my Dr for me to see a ENT specialist to out why this is happening.
I remember my father telling me it was hell to get old. (What I got out of that: there's always something gruesome coming down the pike. No escape.) I have tremendous respect for old people I see who move slowly and aren't grumpy.
Noe Berengena thanks for that comment. I’m 55 and my mom and her friends are also constantly telling me how terrible it is to get old. I also think to myself “what good does telling me that’d do? I am sympathetic to your aches and pains. Should I stop aging? Enjoy the few years I have til I’m in our situation?” I too hope I can maintain a positive outlook as I age. Good luck and God bless
I was healthy til I fell off a ladder at 59 yes.aged 20 years.so I aged faster an ten yrs later I thought I'd be better.people see me as normal.im not.thats reverse aging.
This video is very instructive. I have BPPV that is caused by the otliths (calcified crystals) that break loose form the tiny hair-like structures. When I have these episodes, I get vertigo when I put my head back on the pillow and turn to the right side. The vertigo lasts for 4-5 seconds. Also, if I get out of bed too fast and start to walk, I will get light headiness. I've had this condition for 30 years, the condition will come every 2 years or so and last for 8-10 days and would go away on its own. Now, I'm plagued with this all the time. I use two maneuvers to aid me: The Half Somersault maneuver and there is a exercise put out by the University of Michigan Physical therapy Department -- both are found on youtube. Both exercises have to repeated for several days to be effective for me.
I’ve been suffering from this since I was 14 and every doctor told me it was bppv, it is definitely Ménière’s disease, thank you for this video, it makes so much sense 14 years later
there's a bug on my computer I’ve noticed that as I eat better, it gets better and that makes sense because the doctor is saying it attacks the immune system, I try to stay away from refined sugars, I eat “Daniel fast” approved food but I add salmon, and some other meats to that regimen
This is a great promotional video. Not everyone can come into your clinic (in other parts of the country/world), therefore, it would be great to share healing nutritional information for those who do not have the resources. Thx. Peace.
I suffer from Meniere's Disease. I was Dx'd three years ago when I was 46. The primary care physician I saw Rx'd for me the Brandt Daroff and Epley Maneuver exercises. They appeared to work over time, but no long lasting effects. After seeing this video, I'm certain my problem needs more than a series of exercises to treat. Thanks Dr. Child's. You are truly a Godsend!!
My my Thank u doctor just came across this video i have vertigo four yrs. Got no help at all can't work. I was told by a doctor in Dubai I have vertigo that was in early 2007. No longer lives there. This has been very helpful! I came down with a stomach virus last year. Although most of the symptoms associated with the stomach virus has dissipated for the most part. The dizziness has not. It’s been 5 weeks now, and the dizziness remains. It’s not only positional- as an episode can come on while I sit or lay perfectly still. What concerns me are the new symptoms that have appeared in the last 2 weeks: earaches in my right ear, periods of disorientation. I have experienced some periods of memory loss (recall simple words, trouble recollecting if I fed my cat). My first visits to the specialist was just this week for simple hearing test. I am due to undergo vestibular testing in two weeks.
Hi doctor i have same problem ill go eent doctor he said.i have vertigo now he give me a lot of medicine and he said i have zinus.may problem may left ear we have sound like hamming can you help me what the good test for me to fix may ear problem.thanks
I’ve been like this for nearly 8 years and yes it’s horrible . Due for surgery I have inflammation in my ears Cholesteatoma .. one specialist said I have vestibular migraine I’ve been to so many neurologists and ents that ignore it all and just say “here’s medication” no I wanna know 100000% what’s goin on. Going to another neurologist soon . Thank u for this video it helped a lot.
I suffer from Mal Debarquement Syndrome for over one year I have been going to an Upper Cervical specialist chiropractor. I have greatly improved to the point where most of the time I feel almost normal and the migraines have stopped. I recommend this. Atlas Chiropractor. In Brisbane Australia but there are others in America.
I’m so desperate, I feel so unwell. I can’t walk well, I feel like I’m gonna fall, I’m anxious, I can’t go out, and recently nausea. I feel liquid under my ears going down my jaw. My head hurts, I feel both physical and emotional pain.
I thank you so much for your detailed description of possible causes of vertigo, This will enable me to explain to my physician my known physical problems since I have vertigo, just don’t know the reason. Elizabeth
Wow you just explained some of my symptoms.. Sounds more so like menerire. I know you are no where near me. But I will tell the doctor that's what it seems to be
Since the mid 90's doc. Been everywhere. Can no longer work. My balance problem is not getting better. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or taken any illegal drugs. I am not obese....although am heavier due to inactivity. I suffer from Tachycardia and Hypertension. I take meds for tachy and HBP. I take meds to help me deal with depression. I have taken depression drugs since 1998. HBP meds for about eight years. My will to live is greater than my will to die. I am in my late 50's. I remember getting very ill with vertigo back in 1997 while on a long haul truck driving run. I kept on this haul due to no one else can drive but me. When the run ended about 5 days later and got home I was in bed for days. Didn't even answer the phone for the next load. Ever since, I have been ill. I have done some research and found that a certain ailment called "mal-de-embarme" is closer to what I suffer than vertigo. Thanks for the video Doctor.
i have a relative that went through similar.. he did not add salt to his food.. but did eat food that had too much salt in it.. after changing his diet and correcting a few things in it.. he had less problems with his health.. best of luck..
Has anyone had the ear clogging, ear whooshing and ear ringing with head pressure in addition to the dizziness. Also I’ll have two-three aura migraines a month which included zigzag lines, flashes and white light blind spots for about 10-15 min???
I've had all these symptoms, I'd recommend Chiropractic care as this can come from a misalignment in the spine that puts pressure on other areas inclusing the neck. Hope this helps!
@@ameeromedia5883 I haven't had a fluid build up but I used to crack my own neck many times a day which I think may have caused my problems. My neck posture is alot more forward than it was, if i pinch it back right now, the ringing actually stops. So I'm working with an advanced biostructural correction practioner to get it back to what it should be! I hope you can find some relieve!
@@KPRDS05 hey how are you doing now? I'm having very similar symptoms for a few months now. I'm absolutely clueless as to what's causing them. Blindspots, flashes, pressure in the head, whooshing noise in the ears while I lie down. I'm kinda sacred. By any chance do any one of you ever feel a pulse in the head?
This was a very good video, one that I can actually understand. You do a great job of explaining. I have had Menieres Disease for about 15 years. The tinittis is just unbearable, it never stops. The 1st time I experienced the vertigo, it was very , very severe. I could not hold my self up and had to have help just to go be to the bathroom. The vertigo was so violent that I litterly felt I was rolling down a hill in a barrell. I vomited violently for about 9 hours straight. I could not function on my own. I would like to know where your office is to see if close enough to where I live. I experience a light form of vertigo just about every day, and I have been to all of those doctors you mentioned. I'm desperate.
Yvonne Sanders - Try a Vitamin K2-D3 supplement. Your Meniere's may just be Calcification (not enough K2 in your diet to balance out the calcium, so the calcium builds up in your body)
Thank you for the great video. This helps me understand some things that my son is going through and also sort of confirms some hunches that I've had. Do you know of any medical professionals or centers in the New Orleans area that share such an in depth view and take similar approaches?
My stopped for over two years and came back last week. It’s not life to suffer from meunière and vertigo. Ambulance had to take me to er I couldn’t coupe any longer. God bless everyone.
this was an awesome presentation! Better than any jerk wad doc i've talked to. I just started getting severe bouts of vertigo. 4 to 5 hours long. Ear ringing=rullness=etc
I’m 29 years old experiencing BPPV (vertigo / dizziness) for over a year now, I’m still on going with some tests and the symptoms are very harsh, I hope that no one can experience this symptoms. Thanks Dr. Joseph Childs for the explanation best presentation ever
Damian Spiteri has it been every single day for over a year or off and on I’ve been experiencing being off balanced like I’m drunk and a sensation as if I’m moving when I’m sitting still for over a week now they gave me meclizine but it doesn’t work
Shekeyia Monique Yes I have experience it on and off throughout the year. I had the same symptoms as you have, for me I found it more useful the exercises treatment rather than the medicine
Dr. You have explained this this disease so well and exactly what I am going through I have done all kinds of tests have seen the best special but they will just examine and that is it. Buy you live so far away away how can I come to you? You are the first doctor who gives hope.
I've had two occurrences of vertigo within the last few weeks. At my uncle's recommendation, who has suffered with this condition for years suggested I drink ginger ale. So far so good. It also helps my osteoarthritis. (I have no investment in any ginger ale company.)
I have had a special day, I am not a freak someone else has similar problems, and there are names for them. I have been told I have multi medical problems all following a Head injury in 1991. Currently I have a diagnosis of Epilepsy, Parkinson's Disease, and Meniere's.and have poor balance which has increased over the years, several falls, Intermittant blurred and double vision. Migraine type headache and nausea ,vertigo, Severe tinnitus. all have increased recently. I also have fluctuating hearing loss and some brain fluid draining from one ear following Menigitis Your video makes me wonder if it may be connected. You have given me hope that my forthcoming ear op to close a leakage of brain fluid may actually help. Thank you
My wife suffers from Meniere's disease as well as serious neuropathy. I have been giving her cannabis oil for the past five years. Stopped all other medication such as Neurontin and epleptin since I started giving her the cannabis oil. She sleeps well and for the most part both the diseases are fairly well under control. The withdrawal symptoms from the chemical medication was traumatic.
Wow my mom used to have vertigo a lot in her 50s then lost her peripheral vision later on. We thought it was from her mini strokes. I've been having it more but I think its inner ear issues. Great video!
Excellent presentation. When I had my first proper BPPV attack I found blinking my eyes stopped the visual rotation. Had another BPPV attack about 3 months later but BOTH went away just by resting (I did take a few Stemetil for Day1). 2 years later I had small attack after getting laryngitis, made mistake of not taking full antiobiotics and suspect inner ear infection. Still have to hunt around for sleeping postions. Motion sickness pills work great.
I had arbitrary bouts of dizziness in which nobody could describe. I used this dizziness vertigo treatment t.co/aZoJ5oJUN1 impulsively and amazing, after approximately two days of use my dizziness was long gone, I continued to utilize for another 20 or so. Now that my dizziness is definitely gone, I`m not utilizing it any longer. You need to utilize this if you are just like me.
I keep getting lightheaded when im out and about feeling really tiered all the time with heart palpitations plus the lightheadedness is everyday all day not a day goes by when i dont feel it
It hit me out of now where in april 2020 I was watching a movie and all of a sudden I felt like I fell back and when I held on to the couch everything was spinning. I was so scared I went to the E.R. and they ran many tests and everything was fine. But to this day I've been dizzy. I hate it I get anxiety from it. I was Diagnosed with Meniere's Disease in 2008, as of late I have had many episodes of Vertigo sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. Right now, Iam home on disability, I am almost completely deaf in my left ear. I have been to an ENT Doctor, she sent me to a Neurologist and he said I would be a good candidate for the Labrinthectomy Surgery. I believe this surgery will make me deaf in my left ear which I am very close to that now, and it will cure my Vertigo. My appointment is set in early March of this year.
What about having "Bells palsy"after vertigo well l am suffering with that right now and l can tell anyone it's not a joke one has to be strong to go through it!!😂😁🙏
My problem is different :( I suffer from * Difficulty concentrating and paying attention; easily distracted * Forgetfulness and short-term memory lapses * Confusion, disorientation, difficulty comprehending directions or instructions * Difficulty understanding conversations, especially when there is background noise or movement * Mental and physical fatigue out of proportion to activity * Loss of self-reliance, self-confidence, self-esteem * Anxiety, panic, social isolation * Depression And all of this lasts for a week or sometimes more than that. It reoccurs after a few months out of the blue. I don't get that much of a spinning feeling or like the world is rotating. But recently I've been getting dizzy spells and spins. Please help me out.
If you are taking psychotropic medication that is the problem. Don't stop them abruptly taper off. I had all of these problems and the vertigo. I was on a medication called lamictal name brand lamotrigine. Or 11 years have the attacks for 11 years and I thought I had early Alzheimer's. I eliminated the psychotropic drugs my memory came back and million times better and the vertigo attacks stop.
What an excellent presentation. TY. I wish we like this doc. Who care to explain so much in detail. GBU. Can you suggest any medicine for a relief like at home dos and donuts to get some relief.

jen lee I’m Karen. I was diagnosed with Menieres 35 years ago. I have had 2shunt surgeries, but NOT the nerve dissection as it would leave me deaf in the affected ear. The disease stole 32 years of my life (approx 3yrs ago I went thru BURN OUT and no longer have accute vertigo) but I don’t recommend you do what I did. They have made great strides in the medical field, as shown by this video, so please do your homework, go to the nearest University and visit their Medical Library. Go online and look up Ear Clinics, make phone calls, ask questions and keep notes. God Bless You. PEACE
Read Rocha Carvalho's post above about magnesium. My poor dad had Menieres Disease, it was pure hell and I am terrified of getting it. This morning I have had a horrible episode which came on slowly. Did the epley maneuver and I was worse on both sides when I sad up but then it got better. I now have a MagMin tablet under my tongue. Hopefully I'll get better but I really feel for anyone with Menieres Disease. But it magnesium can help you, how good would that be.
Thank you Doctor. Very well explained. I think i may have BBPV but i also have a scoliosis so maybe cervical since adolescent. Will go Monday to see an Ear doctor. Hope i will fin the main cause.
My last vertigo spell was horrific and lasted all day with vomiting. I have just seen an ENT and was instructed to get an MRI as my left ear feels the fullness. I pray I don't have Meniere's Disease and that it is easily treated or just viral and temporary!

So sorry for all of you suffering with this terrible condition! You do need to SEE A DOCTOR! Sorry for shouting!😝 I get chronic BPPV on the left side because my right side never properly developed due to Thalidomide (one of the only good things to come from it, lol!) When I do the Upside down somersault it usually only takes 2-3 times before it helps. My physiotherapist taught me how to do it. That’s why it’s VERY important to see someone as soon as possible.
Can anxiety alone cause dizziness 24/7? I’ve had multiple tests done. I also suffer from extreme anxiety every day so I’m wondering if that’s the problem
