I was never a Venus fan but last few years I have been amazed by what a legend she is! At this age she can give any young player run for the money. LOVE THIS MATCH! And I would love Venus to win another grandslam before she retires.

I'm so proud of Venus. The crazy part is that she was just a shell of her usual self. She's clearly injured (hip). I hope she's able to recover in time for the final. Go Vee!
Wow. After losing a tight set and being down 0:30 in the second how did she find emotional strength to go up 2:0. Venus is such a fighter. And that shot at 3:44 was mind blowing. And what happened in the final game. She won after being down 0:40. Luckily the hawk eye exists or we could have a different result. That smile in the end was worth of everything. Go Vee!
Congratulations Venus! Continues to inspire and fight. Will be an interesting final since both her and Woz have had a great year but haven't been able to leap over the last hurdle. Whoever wins, it will be a really nice celebratory finish to the year. Garcia didn't play bad actually, but after looking at her performance over the course of this WTA finals, she sometimes chooses the wrong shots to play at the wrong time. This is most likely down to experience though, however I see a lot of potential in her!
Dang you still crying about Garbiñe, you all got it very deep inside with mugu, since she beat the dope sisters in both finals: Roland Garros and Wimbledon. xDDD

And i think we should also look at Garcia's performance in this tournament - she was enjoyable to watch and played on really high level. Congrats to her for the great last months and i hope she can play even better in next year
Does anyone know if they changed the qualification rules for knock out rounds? If so, when? Technically, Wozniacki should have finished first in her group since she had the better overall record as far as sets won/lost, but apparently because Garcia beat Wozniacki she finished first instead. If I recall correctly, in 2009 YEC, both Venus and Dementieva had the same record (1-2) but Venus advanced to Semis because of her better record as far as sets won/lost even though Dementieva beat her in round robin.
they changed the rule in 2015. it used to be a tiebreaker takes precedence with percentage of sets w-l, then percentage games w-l, and finally head to head. now the order of precedence is head to head, then percentage sets w-l, and finally percentage games w-l.
You are missing one point. In 2009 yec, three players in one group had the same record (venus, dementieva and kuznetsova had 1-2) If three players tie, the one who has the best set winning percentage advances. You can not look head to head in this case because three players defeated each other. (venus defeated kuznetova, kuznetsova defeated dementieva, dementieva defeated venus) But venus had the best set winning percentage, therefore she advanced to semifinal in 2009. But if just two players tie, you look head to head.
OMG me too. I'm like - get it together! Love Venus though. It has always been funny to me how she and Serena are sisters, their games are alike, but their serves are SO DIFFERENT.
Justin Cartwright it must be anoying to the returner of the serve,not knowing if the ball will be struck or not. There are no rules on how many ball tosses a player uses , i guess. Yes Venus is outstanding .
What's the reason she refuses to hold the hands of the ball boys and girls as they escort her onto the court each match in this tournament? Some of them are as young as 6 and 7 and it must mean the world to them to be given this opportunity. Every other player has held their hands and given a welcoming smile, you can see on there faces how much it means to them. Venus wont even acknowledge them. It seriously hard to watch and very cruel. I realise you're all Venus fans here so not trying to upset anyone but I just think it's bizzare.
