@@ItsKatKam i am looking to get a test ride on one of them when i get the money together i have had 4 cylinder suzuki bandit 600 and a aprilia shiver 2 cylinder vtwin and i have heard that the 3 cylinder has the benfits of both
Thanks MissKat for the great review. I just picked up my dream retirement bike, '17 Fz10. Found it new on the other side of my state. Had the pleasure (every twist of the throttle) & the pain (getting used to wind on a supernatural naked bike) to take the long way home... Left the dealership @ 2pm, didn't get home till 9:39p. Wind sore but smilin'...Thanks be to GOD, for the Grace to enjoy this bike, & to my Guardian Angel for keeping me alive to tell the story!
Awesome video as always! All around the world they are called MTs, only in 'Merica they were called FZs but this has been changed lately. Now they are MTs everywhere. Kudos to you for the review!
New sub on your channel! I am a 62 yr old liberal w/m in the state of SC. I am just returning to riding after 10 yrs (and, no I did not just get out of prison lol!). First saw your vid doing dual vlog with your sister on harley's. I am now a big fan and happy to be a member of the katfam!
FZ is the north American designation and MT is the European designation but now Yamaha is using MT for both north America and Europe. So the bike you rode in the video is a MT-10 and the one you rode previously is a MT-07
I know what you mean about the throttle. The throttle was THE only thing I didn’t like about my FZ09. The throttle on the BMW is spot on 👍🏼. If you’d like to test ride a Triumph Street Triple, come on down to Pismo Beach and you can test out mine😊
Greetings from bavaria !😊 Kat you could review a Ducati Monster that would be so awesome !😱 I am watching your videos since you got like 10000 subscribers, and i am enjoing ever single one. Please never stop making your videos! 👍🏻
The throttle can be fixed with an ecu tune, I have the fz10 and the fz09 and I don't find either to have issues with the throttle, I do find a big difference with wind at 80 mph or more , on the fz10 is barely noticeable but on the stock fz09 it does get annoying, but a small windshield can fix that. The only thing that can't be changed is the small gas tank, ecu flash helps and most of the time people don't ride 100 plus miles in one ride,. The stock seat is not great but usable yes comfort seat is a must. Also for tall people mirror extenders or bar mirrors, I personally hate the look of bar mirrors so I just got extenders, finally, radiator covers a very inexpensive upgrade but if you find covers that compliment the looks , even better. Any other upgrades are up to you . both are great bikes and the most reliable of any brand, and I don't say that as a Yamaha fan but because it is true.
I have a mt10sp or as you know fz10sp not sure if they released that model over where you are but it’s even better than the standard it comes with full onlins suspension as standard & a full colour screen exactly the same as the new R1 plus you can manually setup the four different modes to your tastes. Great video kat :)
The MT10 does not like it too much if you ride it like "just want to enjoy the view" mode. If you go bonkers it starts to make sense. Somewhat... :D Only "downside" for me is it drinks fuel like there is no tomorrow, and it can heat up if you can not pick up some speed. But I just do not care, i love this bike. Got my hands on one after a test ride as soon as I could :D Thanks for the review, keep being awesome! :)
Another great vid, thanks for sharing! In France this bike goes by MT-10, would have been a lot less confusing for you perhaps lol! Keep it up and kudos from across the Pond
My first question was going to be how was the throttle, was it more of a weeeeenn or a flaaaaaaahhh, but you answered exactly what I needed, it’s a bruaaaagggghhh. Great review kat!
Kat the throttle.. Noticed the modes? B and a mode is to make the throttle easy to operate :D so No need to go tune it for a lot of dollars. The owner should have told you :) unless he doesnt know either
Marisol Torres, The ninja 400 is the bike I really wanna get near spring time around March! It looks like such a good bike, how do you like yours so far??
I test rode it before buying it from a dealer. It had 0 miles of course so I broke it in. Nice feeling!!! The bike is gorgeous. That is, coming from a Honda cbr 250. The ninja 400 looks totally badass. Look at some reviews that are already on RU-vid. That’s what I did.
Marisol Torres Yep I have been looking at a lot of reviews, I actually went to a Kawasaki dealership and checked it out and I sat on it, it’s almost the perfect size for me, i am 5foot 9inches and it seemed to fit me pretty well considering my height
Actually, it has always been the MT-10... just in USA Yamaha used the FZ moniker and changed it to the Global standard in 2017. This applies for all the models 07, 09 and 10 in the USA.
I've owned a few Yamaha motorcycles. Their fuel injection isn't refined, and in all bikes the throttle has been snatchy to some degree. Some worse than others, but it's definitely a hallmark Yamaha trait. If you buy a Yamaha, you'll want an ECU flash to correct this. I have ridden the MT-10, and I am a huge fan. Probably will have one in the garage in the future.
Nice review! Mind sharing which roads you were on? I noticed the tunnel on 24 and saw redwood as I grew up there and noticed the church on the right and the school as you went up the hill! Hope to make it out to one of your group rides one day!
All the late model yamahas I have ridden have a bit of a twitchy throttle, from the fz line to the super tenere . You get used to it, but I gotta believe you can smooth it out with mapping.
Viesturs Heidemanis nah it is more aggressive than the mt10 and is the pinnacle of hoon machine. Is known for super twitch throttles. The mt10 is more powerful by a good amount but the mt09 is geared higher and is just a god level hoon machine and is verging on dangerous.
I have an FZ10 and it's such an incredible machine! I noticed you were in mid-traction control and also Standard mode (rain mode), did you try out any of the other modes? One con I have for her is the MPG. Can't get very far on a full tank unfortunately, but there's no such thing as a perfect bike.
I have an Fz1 yamaha and I find the easiest way to deal with a twitchy throttle is to be in high gear low rpms and then its not too hard to throttle on without all that instant torque.
I’m old school and was thinking you should review the 1970 and 1980’s supper bikes Many a Kawasaki Z1 900 maybe the 1973 rd 350 was a quick bike . Stay away from the Kawasaki triples they were known at a widow maker they were scary quick and had a hard time stopping. Any way grate video
Though it was a review and not a comparison? I have one, the throttle has to do with the 3 riding modes. Nice review since it wasn't mentioned or the braking and yeah, it's 50lbs heavier then the "mt07"
FZ10 ??? It’s the MT10 in the UK, will let it slide that ya got the name wrong hehe 😉 Still good review though 👍🏻 Could try the KTM 790 duke, that looks a pretty sweet bike.
I know you aren't a cruiser kinda girl, but could you review the Kawasaki Vulcan S? It has the same engine as the Ninja, just tuned differently. Plus, you can adjust pegs, seat, and bars to fit your height.
Hmm my throttle on my Kawi is -touchie too. makes it a little hard to be smooth. especially when your a new rider.. LOL I just figured it was just me... and the fact that my bike is a 1985 Kawasaki... LOL Great video..
So weird the 2 names, FZ and MT when they are the same. I love the MT10. Those roads in US are crappy though. PS did u say GG instead of GJ Yamaha? Can tell ur a gamer too lol
Have the same with the throttle on my Triumph Tiger Sport which i had to get used to a lot. On low speeds, if your not carefull with it. Its pooower or none
