It is a nice looking machine with a lot of modern features. Heated seat and grips are a good idea. I also like the idea of an electrically adjustable screen. As it is being marketed as a maxi scooter I wonder why it is only 530cc, a bigger engine would provide a bit more power and make for a better touring machine. I have a Suzuki Burgman 650. I think this is a good size for a touring machine. I also own a Kawasaki Voyager 1700 and I feel the Burgman holds it own on a day's riding either on the open road or the back roads with the big cruiser. One suggestion I would make to Yamaha is to add cruise control. A long day riding on any machine leads to sore hand, wrist and shoulder. Adding cruise control means that is much less of a problem. Enjoy the machine you ride and the place you ride because it is the ride not the destination that is important.
Hi Rob, Just got one in the UK "Brilliant" first scoot for a few years, so agile and fast, get one on order, you want the DX with all the toys on, Pete
peter Wilkinson hi Peter have you experienced any abs issues whereby the engine warning light comes on if you over rev the engine while gripping the brake lever in effect controlling the bike as you would with clutch control on a geared machine, Karl
Was a while ago when you posted but... Can I ask about your comment that it's fast? I test rode one the other day. In fact it was the dealer manager's personal bike. Admittedly I test rode it with my wife on the back, but with a combined weight for the two of us at about 140 kilos, that should not put too great a burden on a 530cc bike. I thought it was slow. Certainly it was barely if at all quicker from a stop to 50MPH/80KPH than my PCX150 two-up. Could not test it any quicker than that on the roads we were on. The dealer manager's wife, also a member of staff, commented (the manager was not there) that it was a quick bike as it had had a modification, but she said no more than that. After riding it, as I was surprised by the engine noise (much more noise and more 'vibey' and buzzy than my PCX 150) I commented to the manager than it made more noise than i had anticipated. His instant reaction was 'I haven't made any modifications.' I said nothing. Sorry for the long preamble. Please tell me what you'd rate it against in bike terms when you say it was fast, if you don't mind. That would be of help to me.
