Thanks for the great insight yet again on your tried & trusted experiences. I've used some of the tips from the 660 Tenere builds & found them to be a great improvement to the bike which helps me to look a whole lot better rider than I actually am !! A participation in one of Greg's organised rides is well & truly on the bucket list. Cheers.
cush drive ...the same type of drive are used in industrial hi troque gearboxs namely called Flex drives .What a bike i reckon this dude sleeps with it,i would
Great set up. I have seen people add oil capacity and try to make this a long distance bike. As you say that pushes this bike out of it's spec. I do two days on my WR and it is not as well set up. My 2014 has really bad fuel economy so range is my issue even with a large capacity tank.
I run 8psi rear with 1 rim lock on my wr450f and Never spun a tube. Also never had much fun with the pirelli rear. never gave me teh grip i wanted. The kenda parker carlsbad or parker DT are much better tyres and better wearing. Nice Wr450. Thinking of turning mine into an adv bike. The ktm 690 is not worth the trouble atm.
Never ran the Pirellis but I swear by my Parker DT's for my WR250R. ON Road is great and offroad grip is excellent. Get about 3000mi out of a pair used for adventure riding.
I wish there weren't so many snakes and spiders in Australia. I think I'd move there as I just love the people and their demeanor. Love the adv scene that seems to be there too. Too bad, also, that they lost their right to guns, They seem like they could use them in such a wild place. Selling me further on a plated WR450 as a capable light adv bike.
The animals and insects rarely bother you. I know we will disagree on this and I don't want an argument but our gun laws have saved thousands of people from being unecessarily killed . But I don't want to debate gun laws, this is an adventure bike channel. But you raised the issue and out of honesty to my audience it is important you all know my belief.
Greetings from Perú - South America. I love the bike. I have a husqvarna fe501. Please, what is the name of the headlamp and windshield so i can import it. Thanx alot.
What's the maintenance like? Oil change/ filter change every ride? Stress on the road with the high strung gearbox? Seems like a good foundation for an adventure bike, but it doesn't have the longevity and robustness for adv riding.
GO YAMI I have a Xt660z Tenere, love the bike, totally transformed it from what it was stock, only thing I hate is the heavy top end. Can't wait to see what the T7 will be like
Eddie Kwiecien exactly my question. That is one of the biggest difference between heavier ADV bikes and adapted enduro/MX bikes. Reasonable maintenance vs every 600 mi or less. Has anything been done to make the bike more maint friendly, and was the two day ADV description given because of maintenance needs rather than how much gear you can haul?
I'm quite keen on the screen aswell. I believe its a "screens for bikes" screen. Great name I know right. the website looks to be a little broken but is live so not sure if they are still active
I've been really wanting to setup a MX style bike for true adventure riding -- for me more than likely a KTM 500EXC. Get out more in places that would be impossible on the big 600 pound plus bikes -- more dirt than pavement. Loved the video, but how on Earth are you going to go self-sufficient on this bike? You must have a chase vehicle or something because I can't see you carrying all your gear, food, camp, etc.
oil cooler for long world trips possibly too lengthen oil changes, i dont think it needs it for local adv rides mine hold 1500ml plenty ,done 10,000 not even a valve adjustment , also theres that kiwi fella just blogging his trip now in Alaska started on south island done 500hours 40,000+ with one valve adjustment, still going strong 016 ktm 500
@@benlondon8467 Current I run on the ratio 15/47 and enjoy a comfortable 100-110 kph cruise. I'm okay with that. Also, since I do not run at 'racing' revs ever I extended my oil & oil filter change interval to 1500 km. Seems fine to me. Any comment from your experience?
@@kokkiematematika1931 I run the 15/43 as I use my WR450 as an ADV bike. Long legs, great for cruising at 100plus, 450 still got the punch for single track. I do use the ADV for purpose, I have a dedicated 450 as an Enduro bike. I do love my ADV WR 450, My set up……. Wr450 2003 model ADV MULE. Steel frame, 1.1 litre oil reservoir. Fit new ( Brand new ) 2015 engine. Oil capacity 2.2 litre .( frame engine combination) Fit big tank 15L Fit thermostat / housing 75*c Fit Thermostat fans Fit vibration reduction rubbers Steering damper Big brakes Fit new rims Cush drive Fit beautiful seat Fit beautiful screen and instrument panel Fit beautiful lights Fit great luggage Gearing change 170km max Balancing wheels Basically put 200 hrs into full restoration/ Adventure bike modifications. Replace and fine tune everything. Fit ear plugs , hit start button, tackle ADV riding that T7,890R,850G,etc etc will struggle. Live happily ever after. The End .
Hi! How are You? Important question. How it is with fuel consumption between 450 F vs R model??? Is it much difference? Thank You and best for You! Filip Poland
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV hey guys, where did you get the Cush drive from? I have a 2021 wr450f and having a hard time trying to get it set up for adventure.
What LED insert do you use in the headlight? Does it have to have the same Watts as the stock one, to not destroy the alternator? Where can I find a list of parts that you used? Thank you!
Great content! My father was wondering what kind of broad bench you guys used. He already purchased the Safari Tank 15l. Is there some onlineshop (that you can recommend) where he can buy the broad bench? Greetings from Germany!!
Thank you. If not I will just call Adventuremoto. I am developing my 450 exc for Adventure. Im trying to convince my mate to do a similar job to this bike.
I was thinking the same. Most people complaint because they don't have them and how it damages gearbox.Have you come across any methods to get one?Is it easily do able ?
Actually on that bike it take 45mins as the tank, handle bars and driving lights need to come off. Plus the Safari tank has swollen and is difficult to get in and out. Would use an IMS if they made them large enough for the 450
there are a couple of questions coming up about the bike. I was speaking to Greg this morning and he will go through the posts and answer later on this afternoon, Sunday 14/5
Wow . thank you but you put so much money in this bikes they are olmost unreal . 10k on top . ? You must sell all this parts . Don't forget a HD spring . !!
