This method also worked on my 2018 AWD Cherokee with the 2.4 motor. I drained out almost 4 quarts of fluid and it took almost 4 quarts to fill back up. I also used Mopar 8&9 speed fluid. One very important thing to remind people doing this job is to have the engine RUNNING when you do your final check. Let it warm up and reinstall the fill/level plug once the fluid stops running out with a warm engine.

@@Motorcycle_Man Always, I am a fresh compass owner, from Europe, 85.000 kilometers on the clock, that is around 50.000 Miles, transmission shifts smoothly, but I have a feeling it needs a fresh oil to shift perfect...

When should you change the transmission oil? I have a Fiat Toro 2.4, 9-speed gearbox. Year 2017 with 72.000 thousand kilometers driven. So far no problems with the car. I’m from Brasil.

@@Motorcycle_Man Thanks, I'm going to change the oil next week, using the machine. I called the dealership and they didn't recommend changing it, so I kept putting it off. They said it was "for life".

Hello again, I just talked to the official Jeep service and dealership and they told me something I think it is not true.... Regarding the ZF 9HP transmission, when changing the transmission oil, do I need to replace the oil pan as well? Is the oil filter located inside the oil pan? I've heard that the filter in the ZF 9HP transmission is deep within the transmission, making it so that you can only change the oil, and there's no oil pan with a filter. However, the official Jeep service is telling me that this transmission has a replaceable oil pan that includes a filter. I suspect they might be misleading me so that they can charge a non existent service.... My Compass is 2021 with ZF 9 speed automatic trans.... Can anyone confirm this?

@djpunisha29 No, If you watch my video you can see where I remove the drain plug, And it just goes in to the actual housing of the transmission. There is no oil pan on this vehicle. And no there is no filter on the outside, or one that is easily accessible without taking apart the entire transmission. All you need to do is drain and fill the fluid. No filter or pan like a traditional transmission. If you want to send me pictures of the bottom of your transmission to my email, i can verify that we have the same transmission. I suggest 30,000 miles. I did my Cherokee at 60K and there was almost no filings on the magnet on the plug. Fluid had darkened, though.

109,000 miles. I’ve asked a shop twice to do it because I couldn’t find a transmission dipstick at 80k miles and 100k miles. They kept on saying it’s sealed transmission and can’t be done. WTH! Then I find your video.

@kenmiguel2986 those guys ate idiots lol Even "sealed" transmission have ways to drain and put fluid in. "Lifetime fluid" is such B.S. I have faith in you, you can do this on your own. Your car will love you for it and you will appreciate your car much more afterwards

@@Motorcycle_Mandid it today. Might have underfilled it because my fluid transfer pump decided to explode so some spilled. Heard some whining once I hit 70mph upon acceleration. Does not shift hard anymore though.

@francisbonga5936 Lifetime fluid my a$$. Find a new mechanic, because any mechanic who believes in a lifetime fluid doesnt know anything about cars. The fluid i took out was very dark at 60k.. What's the definition of lifetime? Until the transmission blows up and starts slipping? Thats what they want, it infuriates me. Find someone that will do it for you, Lifetime Fluid is a JOKE
