2018 Audi A5 2.0T - Redline: Review 

He released this on Halloween because selling this body style at over 40k is scary.

I bought this exact car in 2021 for 33k out the door with 15k miles from an Audi dealer with a full warranty till 2024. It is my daily driver, getting 27mpg. It is fast it is fun. I can take my wife to dinner in comfort or take is in the canyons on the weekends. My advice pick up these cool cars a few years old is the way to go.

15:00 You did not do launch control. You have to push the ESC button and hold it down until it says "OFF". What you did was just a regular launch. But I guess you're not to blame, most people don't understand how it works. Plus, yeah, great engine. I usually don't like 4-C turbocharged, but the 252 HP in the new Audis is amazing. It's a great engine in every way, it provides enough performance for sporty driving and the overall car has a better weight distribution than the S5. And driving it, it feels massive, it feels like a really capable, well crafted engine.

Overall pretty impressive review. I like that you took your time discussing how it compared to previous A5 and other models from Audi. If only you had another review for the cabrio one....

And yes I agree there is a little delay when you just start going and I’m not sure what the Hells going on but I know it’s on all models. And I hate when my engine shuts off when I stop there for I barely press my brake pedal in my engine keeps running on red lights, BTW For all you folks who has the same problem and you don’t like when the engine shuts off try holding your break panel with a very little touch of your foot

if u run a e85 mix premium...drop a KN air filter in put a flowmaster muffler on..just the muffler leave the rest stock.. that turbo lagg goes away!!

I think the last generation A5 looked better. Not diggin it. They ruined the design :(

If you liked the previous A5 then you must like this. The evolutionary design to my eye is sharper all round. That said it is conservative....but I like that. Honda is not conserbative these days and are worse looking than before....different but not necessarily in a good way. Surprisingly (or not) the G70 (Hyundai) is a very handsome design and easily holds its own against the big 3 from Germany. And a pet peeve.... I wish Sofyan would quit with the sound the doors make when being closed.

Looks like a 90s Honda on the inside with a couple bells and whistles. I think people just like the Audi logo, but their cars are pretty much always underwhelming.

The rear does indeed have cup holders. You just didn’t know how to open them. I can confirm that cause I work at Audi.

imo the 2009-2012 S5, before the refresh, still the best, simple lines, muscular looking, V8

Engine start-stop is such BS tech. It doesn't really save you any gas, but it will cost you a new starter if you keep it out of warranty. Hard pass.

Once again great review. I recently test drove a 2018 A5 cab and loved it. Great power for the size of engine. I also love the updated styling. Glad Audi chose an evolutionary approach as opposed to a radical change. Just wish they had more interesting colors at the dealership. They were mostly black, white and gray. I’ll take a CPO in 2 years in Green or blue. Thanks.

I smoke 95% of the vehicles from the star,t of course the one that are trying to go with me, this is the most perfect all round engine as a base on any Luxury sedan of this size. New Bimer 330i is slower and it shows and 335 runs even with my A4 Strongly suggest to look into purchasing this vehicle I’m talking about A4 but I guess who likes sports coupe get A5

Everyone thinks thos car is bland but I like to think of it as subtle. I personally dont like the big chrome grills and the big badges a Mercedes would have. I like how Audi is pragmatic and aggressive. The Audi proves itself on the road. It doesnt need flash. Purely subjective tho. I understand the appeal of Mercs and the more flashy cars

Why is there so much hate and anger on on this thread? I cross-shopped the 2018 Audi A5 vs the 2017 BMW 4 series vs the 2018 Mercedes-Benz 300 coupe. I agree with Sofyan about the styling: it's more subtle and refined. I ultimately got the A5 because it was the best balance between performance and luxury, and I'm very happy with the A5 and know I made the right choice for me.

A5 coupe is not so aesthetically pleasant. Its proportions especially the sides are weird and not sporty at all. I think A5 Sportback looks a lot better, more premium and sportier than coupe - ironically.

There are cupholders in the back though ;)

Interior is mediocre. Stop cutting German cars slack. He wouldve been much more critical if this wasn't a luxury German brand. You can get stitching on Toyota and buicks these days..no excuse here

The handheld footage is a tad distracting with something audible being clicked/crunched/bumped when you move the camera around.

Rented one and was not thst impressed. It was cramped and felt so so to drive.

There is cup holders in the back seat, you just need to flip the two sides out (same as the ones on the A4)

Might i suggest doing some b roll when showing the interior with voice over, so you lose the camera rattle sound

I like the previous A5 generation a little better. The rear taillight designs on the B8.5 on both the A4 and A5 were so sick. But this is still nice.

The new A4/A5 look so much worse than the old ones IMO. They made it more flat, angular, and boring...PLUS they dropped the manual transmission from the S4 and S5, yuck. I was going to order a new S4 but since they decided to force me into an automatic I bought a C400 instead. Your C400 review was a big part of that decision btw thanks!

Just got a 2021 base with convenience package. I got it because of this video, but disappointed that they don’t make silver anymore. I wanted this color spec, but they had a black/brown that was just as good.

On to this video and I've never been a fan of Audi styling, but this looks looovely.

Flump, flump, flump, flump, FLUMPITY, flump, flump. That is all I think when I see or hear about Audi's. They are not a drivers car like a BMW, you know it, we all know it, but people still buy the "FLUMPITY flump" Audi. Flump = fat, cumbersome to drive.

Old fashioned garden variety styling...meh. Regardless I do not see the value in getting one of these. Leasing a Euro luxury brand is probably more suitable. When you have brands like Lexus which offer many of the features offered on Audi Prestige for much cheaper, I think it is silly to spend the extra cash just because it is an Audi/MB/BMW. Cars in general are money pits especially after the warranty runs out but I feel much more confident in Lexus vs any of these.

The original A5 was gorgeous and timeless. Still love the look of it to this day, plus the RS 5 of that generation had that insane high revving 4.2L N/A V8. This still looks great but that original one was special.

The seat is exactly the same as the S5 2003 circa.. Missing the flat bottom steering wheel and that killa 6 cyl SC. other than that, you get the open sun roof. driver assist function (which I don't need) and better infotainment. Most importantly you "DONT"T" have the 6 spd manual option. I would save the $ and get an older S5 or get the 18 Q5.

They don't have their designers anymore. Audi has no idea what to do! You can see it in all of their new cars. Audi is missing Bierman.

That infotainment design is a clear indication you are being ripped off big time. Until A7 and A8 interior design filter through to the rest of audi cars, in my humble opinion Audi is a no no. You can't be paying all that money for that retarded design.
