Ford Mustang GT4 (Driver - Tony D’Alberto) vs Ford FGX Falcon Supercar (Driver - Alex Davison) vs Ford GT (Driver - Ryan Briscoe) Check out the 20 minute version of them around bathurst • 2018 Bathurst 1000 - F...
Whether you're a holden fan or a ford fan, it is truly sad to see the end of an era for Australia car racing. I feel aussie has lost its identity across the board not just in car racing.
@DVN today's GTLM cars are almost as fast as the old GT1 cars. They could very easily be upped to 600hp from their current 500hp since most of the class is now turbocharged.
@@loganperry8637 Yeah. Buts it’s a dumb thing to be disappointed about because Supercars is about the racing. Not the cars that they are loosely based on
You solved the mystery Sherlock. Absolutely brilliant observation. I thought this was an actual race between three different types of cars on the track by themselves for only one lap
No. You know how ford make things that break then squeeze customers to get money for repairs until a class action comes in? Same thing. The 2.0 is from its Transit van that has been boosted to an inch of its life. So much it physically had to be reinforced. The engine has a belt inside the crankcase for the timing. Not a chain, a belt, inside the engine oil. Its not accessible and designed for life. Another belt spins in oil for the oil pump. The head is sealed, its all one piece. The cams cannot be removed, the EGR is built into the head. Anything happens, including just a blocked up EGR, buy a new head.
@@alienchaser636 I'd buy a Raptor used, drive it till the engine blows which will be around 6-8 years then drop a 3.2 in from a standard Ranger which is detuned so it freely and safely makes 580nm. But I'd rip the shit oil pump out of that too and replace it.
@daman71, I am with you redarding what to buy as the Falcon disappears from dealerships. Think I will keep my 98 EL Sedan as it hasn't let me down and it's just ticked over the 400k original kilometers.
Well the thing is you shouldn’t buy another... keep it till it’s dead, then sell it to an enthusiast or restore it. To many people just throw cars away and neglect them
It seems staged, the GT was around the same distance back from the Supercar for most of the lap, and then made all the time up in the last couple of corners.
@@unrealgoat_6878 no I know how these races go, it's supposed to show the difference in performance between different kind of cars, but usually the cars visually looking like their on it throughout the whole lap. The GT looked like it was crusing up the mountain. And it looked like the Supercar had to slow down a lil to make sure the GT passed it at the line.
Of course it's staged... all speed comparisons like this (or the Aus gp every year) are. It's just a little demonstration and advertisement for kids and adults. Interestingly a lot of 'adults' take it seriously and start throwing numbers and opinions out about how they performed.
There's no problem with them staging a race, but to call it a speed comparison is misleading and also likely the reason people are throwing numbers about.
Still can't believe the Falcon and Commodore are gone. They were wonderful drivers cars with utility and comfort unmatched at their price points. There's nothing on the market that meets my needs & gives me the same thrill as my SS-V wagon - for even remotely the same money.
That's why I am restoring my AU V8, and have a clean as a whistle EL for a daily driver which will get an engine freshen up after the AU is finished (motors out, work starts next week, got to get transmission exchanged), get it all put back together and get it re-sprayed in Arctic White).
They can race my diesel Fiesta, set the record for most laps without a refuel. Of course that doesn't mean much when the other cars have lapped you 50 times.
Pretty stupid to kill off the Falcon. Why can't they move the factory to America? Plenty of Americans have always wanted to get there hands on a Falcon.
Havnt watched supercars for years due to them being nothing like the road cars. Most people don't know that at one stage ford and Holden used same 5l v8. A Ford motorsports v8. So when idiots were saying Holden are the best etc..those idiots didn't know that it had a ford engine
Looks like the staging was a bit of a balls-up, as they had to let the GT catch up more than usual for one of these "comparison" thingos (usually isn't quite as noticeable). Either that or Briscoe plodded a bit too much over the top.
I'm not an Aussie but American and it's sad to see the Falcon go, it's sad to see ford kill off their car lines, reminds me of when they killed off the panther platform here in the states, no more big rear wheel drive cars for FoMoCo. I would love to see the Crown Vic, and Town Car again, sad to see the Falcon go with them.
1:20 Arguable the most wild sports car up the mountain is tied between every school bus that has every carried 60 Sydney school kids ever. Pretty sure the lap time was ~8 mins...
I hope Ford put as much effort into the Mustang as Dodge did with the Challenger Demon. Drag racing's not my cup of tea but a factory drag special as a road car equals commitment.
deggis4 gt4 mustanf is a full manual so he has to heal and toe with right while operating the clutch were as the super car is sequential and the gt has paddel shifters
I love Ford but I hate the GT. How they sandbagged 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring just to throw off their competition for the 24 Hours of Le Mans was a sickening thing to do. Worse was the ACO playing along. And even worse than that was the Ford Racing whining about a pointless pole position light on the Risi car to try and get them penalized so they could have their ideal finish. The very second I heard Ford was going to Le Mans I was so excited at the chance of a Chevy/Ford duel in the world's greatest race, but instead they cheated then acted like a bunch of babies. I'll never like that car. I wish they fielded Mustang GT350s instead.
I have been wondering if we will see a race series for 4x4s, utes and wagons? There are enough different manufacturers and models on the car yard lots to provide reasonable competition and we have seen ute and truck racing. Any thoughts anyone?
Obviously it's worked out through many trials, but still great to watch, despite the fact that a street legal car is (IN THE RIGHT HANDS/DRIVER) only 10 second's, that's Ten second's, or for our Roman viewers X second's Greek viewers I second's. Indian numerals Added in the edit Very interesting to look at how many variations, except for a particular numeral. 00 0 ⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰ (Look em up)
You mean commodores, there still going, just not Aussie. I don't know when they'll stop using them but from what I know the Commodore isn't announced to stop yet, and unfortunately this year is the last year of the Ford Falcon and the Holden Commodore to both race in the Supercars Championship. After so many remarkable years of racing with both of those iconic cars...
Why did they have to bring in a tonne of stupid American muscle cars into Australia's nationally famous motorsporting history? Surely the Camaro is going to far?
fastest GT3 race lap from the 2018 Bathurst 12 hours "Fastest race lap: 2:01.9575" the GTE is a good 5 seconds if not more faster on this track. So this is staged and therefore, boring.
'The most famous piece of turf in Australian motor racing, Conrod straight.' Not a blade of grass to be seen. That is right up there with the start of the the Sydney to Hobart where the commentator pronounced that Wild Oats XI, a sailboat, was 'steaming ahead'. Call me pedantic but you know... you should get your shit together as a commentator.
That mustang still has the roush coyote 5.0 in it, you can tell buy the exhaust note as one is quad over head cam and the other is over head valve single cam . the supercar fords run an old ford Windsor block based design fully built for race almost at nascar spec. Big difference between street engines and race engines.
You clearly either don't know what you just watched or trolling for a comment, I'll bite. This was to show the difference in speed between a road car, the Mustang, a Supercar and the new Ford GT. The Mustang will be on par with the Supercars next season because under the body work they will basically be the same, they will have very little in common with the road cars.
Australia, the next American state? tRump and ScoMo seem to be doing things nobody else knows about, so it could be possible. We have American TV and movies and music, so it's not too far away.
