@@bandidotrucker7092 Most people are buying a tahoe or suburban because of the need for a third row. The center console in the middle means the kids or passengers will have to fold the seats down to get access to the back.
Get ready. It's coming on more vehicles. The 19 Silverado will have it which means it's coming for the Tahoe. The 19 Envision is the first to include a switch to turn it off though so hopefully that catches on.
Your reviews are so biased. If technology mattered so much, why would the most outdated brand (Toyota) be the #1 selling in the nation?? You need to focus on the other important key features man.
I don't think Toyota is an outdated brand. I think the brand is traditional and the technology is actually there at Toyota with the technology the brand gave to its previous gen Corolla including standard LED headlamps that are optional on some Mercedes-Benz.
Sorry, I’ll take a column shifter any day over that dang knob. Isn’t the reason they’ve done away with any shifter is to give more console space? Well column shift does that, just sayin, as funny as it seems.
amgGaming Ok thank you. Thats what I was thinking, for the most part, 6 in. of length would normally put you in a different class. But the expedition and the tahoe compete in this class so it threw me off.
No you do not put your gun there. When the shit hits the fan there’s no time to be wasted for that thing to slide up. Steering column holster is the way to go. You want your handgun secured and always on the ready at a spot that is reachable and can be retrieved in a second.
this is the last truck that should be getting criticized, if you want more cupholders in the back, get the bench seating so you have the foldable console the middle... also, the third row situation is false in the suburban, in the suburban, you the floor is not as in your face, because the suspension is further back. The leg room in the suburban is better.
O.K. but why compare this Tahoe RST to any Ford with a V6 and less Tow weight... You know you love and want this package.. With GM you can move up to another GM Brand for the options you may want.. Chevy is for everyone and not just a few... This is a Great package that the Federal Government and Security prefer...
I like your reviews generally although you did kind of sound like a Ford salesman in this one. As a long term Tahoe owner (in my second now over 400k miles combined) and former ford employee, I can confidently say the Tahoe is the best that money can buy. The key ingredients you glossed over in your comparisons to the competition are the superior LS engine and the drivetrain which has dominated the market in both performance and reliability for over 30 years.
For a vehicle of its size, the Tahoe has the most useless 3rd row I’ve ever seen. It looks like it would only be suitable for children and hobbits. I’d rather just do away with the 3rd row and increase the space in the second row.
Right. And who needs that many seats? Most families have 2 kids or less these days. Don't tell me someone has non-family passengers that frequently that requires a Tahoe either.
PeRX yeah, if you’re a double amputee. Did you even see the video, idiot? That third row isn’t even habitable. Just more poor design from GM....like that fukin column shifter ( y’all watch this guy lose it, now ha ha:))
There is a danger with push button start. Sometimes you forget to turn it off in your garage. Exposing you to carbon monoxide. Resulting in deadly consequences
I mean the people who get them are usually moms and it fits kids just fine and the second row is actually really spacious idk why he had the seats that far back they go back super far
Tahoe and all GM SUV’s are for those who love the brand and trucks. GM always rolls out their full size segment first. That is why GM’s SUV line up is always “behind” even though they were ahead. I love how the first people to talk down GM’s trucks are those who don’t even own a full size SUV or know anything about trucks. I’m not a GM fanboy I owned an expedition and it was garbage. The only reason the expedition is a better vehicle at the moment is because it finally took Ford 3 years to make something to actually compete with a Tahoe. Just wait until the new Tahoe rolls out.
The new Expedition is a better vehicle than the current Tahoe and Suburban, but it’s way more boring, and less enthusiast-friendly. It has a silly rotary shifter (compared to GM’s column shifter), and the mute V6 engine is fast, but not very fruity and appealing.
I really like the Tahoe. If I purchased one, I would keep the third row down permanently and get 60/40 split second row rather than captains chairs. Also, even though I've never had a GM vehicle, I really like that chime when it starts up. Very comforting for some reason.
Kadeen Hunter That’s because cars are becoming like phones and laptops. Every brand will upgrade the tech with each redesign. Manufactures need to do this if they want to keep up.
It’s still the automotive industry, we know for a fact that automakers update in car tech with redesigns or resfreshed models! So asking for crisper display in a now 3-4 years old vehicle with no significant overhaul... is a bit much.
Redline Reviews yes but manufacturers don’t redesign there vehicles every year like phones, laptops etc so that’s unrealistic. Most of the time redesigns don’t happen for 4-5 years.
I don't understand why people are complaining that the rst "isnt a real performance suv"......... Well thats because it was never made to be wise ass. And this was released in 2015. The expedition was released last year. So obviously there will be better things in the expedition compared to the tahoe. Although nothing beats GM V8's and style
TheSouthernBrother I agree I am so disappointed they didn't make the new Impala in a SS trim. I have an 07 SS and want to trade it in for another V8 powered Sedan but I had a Charger and had nothing but problems out of it and not a fan of the SS it looks like a Malibu to me.
ghawkins816 From a financial perspective it is understandable, their truck/SUV/CUV sales are up and Chevrolet is just tapping into that market. Besides like the SS (or Holden Commodore), an Impala SS probably would not sell. A man can dream though.
This thing is dated....I mean it's the same 6.2 liter! Holy shit....whats the difference between the Tahoe/Escalade/Sierra with the 6.2? Why in the hell would you pay 80k for 3/36000 warranty when you can just buy an Escalade....dumb.
I bought a 2016 brand new LS tahoe.. $42,000 OUT THE DOOR and that included after market leather added by dealership... I LOVE THE TRUCK! It may not be an RST.. but its HALF The price!!!! better value for the money... If you want Borla exhaust or Brembo breaks.. just do aftermarket! Much cheaper.... yea, no 6.2 engine... but your MPG suffers too. I get 18 MPG combined with my LS tahoe... Much better than 14 MPG with the RST!
Your suppose to buy a full size SUV for it’s towing capability first then people moving second. There are CUVs and minivans that specialize in people moving. That’s why I think the storage and rear passenger comfort is suffice.
To all u people that are thinking about buy a GM full size SUV u don't need all wheel drive unless you live up north where it snow or going riding off road in the mud.other than that u just wastin money 2 wheel drive is all u need plus it's cheaper then all wheel drive
My fully loaded Audi does not have one touch up rear windows either.. and thank God for that because one time it saved me from squashing my kids fingers. I think they do not include it for safety because you cannot see what's going on back there.
What Automotive review background do You have? Do you know what Chevrolet is? This is Truck Based and rides on a Frame... You compare different brands and Makes and models from Asia and Europe and Ford??? They don't compare with CUV's. You also compare with the LWB Ford with space??? Do you homework first! ;-(
Disabling One Touch Up in the back seat is a child safety feature. Kids like to put there hands out of open windows. So disabling that feature forces the driver to be aware thus avoiding any finger pinching.
Waiting for the 2020 Yukon/Tahoe. Thought the 2018s are heavily discounted right now. Probably seeing their numbers cut by the new Expedition and Durango.
Grand Cherokee looks great but this thing is ugly. It looks well polished but it's a box on wheels. Looks are subjective and man I hate to see them. And I live in Texas so they're everywhere XD lol.
Three minutes into this video and I just had to stop it. Does this thing look dated or what? Tahoe SS? really? When will Chevy give us a truck or SUV worthy of the SS nameplate. I’m a die hard Chevy enthusiast and I’ve been waiting for this vehicle for way to long. Come on Chevy, get off your azz and give us something that will compete with either the Ford Raptor or Jeep Trackhawk. .
Puttnutt24 gm's management must not like money or something. everyone and their mama sees that ford can barely keep up the demand for raptors and NOBODY is doing anything about it...
Puttnutt24, The problem is GM doesn’t see the business case behind something like a supercharged, full-blown sport SUV. Apparently they’re content with playing it safe and keeping all their SUVs mainstream and focused on daily driving. At least FCA gives you the option of cool sporty SUVs like the SRT Durango and Jeep Trackhawk! And for under $100K! Otherwise you’ll have to shop among the luxury car brands to get a true sporty SUV!
The ss was a fail because it was never really marketed but that doesn’t make the ss nameplate unsuccessful have we forgotten 454ss Silverado, impala ss, montecarlo ss? Those vehicles all did well sales wise in some generation or another. I don’t think the trackhawk competing vehicle you guys want is or should come in the form of the Tahoe platform. The Tahoe is simply too big of a platform to start on to want to compete with the x5m, srt8 Jeep’s, cayenne’s etc. I think their best bet is a raptor competitor based on the Silverado but it absolutely MUST be better than the raptor on paper in virtually every way or it would be a fail. I’d like to see a conventional v8 perhaps supercharged around 500-600 hp 500lb ft tq and awesome off-roading abilities as well as tough looks. That’s what I think will be a winning recipe or atleast able to give Chevy fans something to brag about.
On second thought, imagine a low slung, awd light weight Tahoe ( something like police spec) with a massive engine, independent rear suspension, boosted v8 and once again WEIGHT REDUCTION, that could be an interesting little sleeper of an suv. Needs suspension and weight loss though !
moescolla All GM SUVs are getting a complete redesign in 2020 to catch up with the new 2019 trucks. This current design is only 4 years old and it really looks good in my opinion, definitely not dated. The early/mid 70s Suburbans were basically identical to those of the early 90s. Minor redesigns obviously but underneath it was really unchanged; no one was complaining then. I don't think manufacturers should wait _that_ long to revamp a lineup, though I think a complete overhaul every 3 or so years is very unnecessary. Just keep what works for a while.
The column shifter in my opinion is what gives an advantage over the the competition. I don’t like that companies are going for the floor shifter and stupid ass dial shifters. It feels so much better to pull down a column shifter then to pull back a floor shifter or turn a dial. I like that Chevy is still keeping them as well for the 2019 Silverado and 2020 Tahoe.
PeRX My favorite is a manual transmission and nobody offers one in a full size SUV. So I resort to my #2 being a column shifter due to the center console space it saves.
moescolla I agree it looks old already! Escalade still looks good and still catches my when one drives by me but the Tahoe does need some exterior updates
moescolla The Tahoe still looks better than the Expedition, and offers more tech and sporty items. The expedition on the other hand offers less, and has horribly drawn out tail lights and a body that looks like a minivan. Plus the interior on the expedition is practically plastic with fake wood glue ons.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I'm so glad someone finally pointed out my biggest issue with these GM trucks. These things have been reviewed dozens and dozens of times and the reviewers go on and on again about how roomy and comfortable they are. People I talk with on the street say that if you just get the Suburban or XL version you'll have the extra legroom. Thanks for letting the world know that's not true. They've got a HUGE cult following but you're paying for a full sized SUV and you're getting compact SUV room in a casket carrier size package. The second and definitely the third row seat room is criminal in this segment ;-D The room in the Sequioa, Expedition and Armada all beat the room in these GM trucks. I even find the Atlas to be really comfortable and I'm over six feet tall.
At the 13:12 mark you incorrectly state third-row legroom in the Suburban is the same as the Tahoe's and more than once implied their wheelbases are the same (saying the difference in interior space is found only behind the rear seats). The Tahoe and Suburban have different wheelbases. Here are the numbers... Tahoe wheelbase: 116.0" second-row legroom: 39.0" third-row legroom: 24.8" rear storage space: 15.3 cu.ft. Suburban wheelbase: 130.0" second-row legroom: 39.7" third-row legroom: 34.5" rear storage space: 39.3 cu.ft. Otherwise, I thought it was a good review.
Like seriously. They should have just made it a comfy 5 passenger SUV as the 3rd row is useless. It's a shame because I do love the idea of a big ol' American body on frame vehicle. Is there an option just to get a 5 seater setup or is it like this?
It’s pretty disappointing that this truck has a lack of space in the 2nd and 3rd row. Apart from towing what the hell is the point of buying this full-size SUV? Let’s not forget that this costs 78 grand. You could buy a XC90 instead of this and get a better interior with more tech. If I had to buy a full size SUV it would be the expedition because adults can sit in all three rows comfortably. However, i would only buy it if I needed the space. Full size SUVs are way too expensive.
For $70k, I would take a Toyota Sequoia ALL day, EVERY day over this thing. Don't need a vagina warmer in the middle, so I prefer an old-school lever shifter in the center, over the column shifter. Hate the color brown. I would not trust GM "cylinder deactivation." GM has enough mechanical issues with their vehicles as it is, without outkicking their coverage with dubious technology. How many mpg difference is there between a conventional 8 cylinder GM and the one with cylinder deactivation? Doubt it's more than 5 mpg difference, if that. If you want a late model, full-sized, body on frame SUV (that has a high probability of lasting 250,000+ miles), there are only 2 choices: Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia, and the mid-sized 4Runner. Sad to see this category disappear. IDGAF about gas mileage or the environment.................I'm American and it doesn't affect ME. The American Way................ALL about "ME".
1) You point out the extra storage behind the touchscreen then you complain the front storage is lacking. 2) You complained about the lack of leg room in the 2nd row seating but you said the front seat was almost all the way back.It has been a while since I rode in a backseat but I have never rode in a backseat when the front seat was all the way back. 3) Everybody knows that pretty much the only people who ride in the 3rd row seats ARE children. 4) You said that GM makes you pay extra for adaptive cruise control and other manufacturers 'include' it in their vehicles. The other manufacturers do not give away ANY options. The cost is figured in with the option packages they offer.
Great review, but this is dumb. You can get a Denali with a 6.2, and have a more comfortable ride. No sport seats, boring infotainment system, and questionable brake vacuum pumps. Mine in my 2015 failed causing an accident.
Okay 1. If we are watching this video we are obviously interested in Chevy NOT FORD. 2. I would like a video from you without so many personal opinions, just tell me what the car has.
No shit its a little dated lol it came out in 2014! GM has always been ahead of the game when it comes to SUVs. New one comes out next year as a 2020. Also yes chevy did offer the 6.2l V8 in the 09 Tahoe!

There is no reason to ever buy a Tahoe. Every time you pull up next to a Suburban or ESV, you realize, you fucked up. The arch in the roof and the useless storage doesn't help anything. This vehicle shouldn't exist.
Normally a 5’7 grown adult wouldn’t be all the way in the back. People who pay for these extra options and pay 60k on a Tahoe usually don’t use the 3rd row, I have a big family and we’re all a chevy family, my two aunts have suburbans but everyone else have tahoes and rarely use the 3rd row
Andrew Schulz yeah but he said that the third row is no different in space, and I've heard the same complaints for the Yukon XL and Escalade ESV. If smaller people are complaining, and I'm comfortable, shit don't make sense lls
prettyrickyd47 He got that part wrong. The third row in a Suburban is a world apart from the Tahoe. In the Tahoe, your feet are right above the rear wheels. In the Suburban, the rear wheels are under the rear of the third row. It's not the same at all.
The glass opens separately which is definitely a nice feature to have... I have 120,000 miles on mine and i opened it once or twice to show people that it opens separately. In actuality it serves zero purpose
Gear knobs and gear buttons are dumb af and I feel they are unreliable in the long run. I could never get a car, van, truck, suv, or cuv with a knob or buttons for the gear shifter. But that’s just my opinion
I don't care what people say for it being a live axle it really rides good I'm not sure why people complain bout how it rides I fucken love the way it rides and handles. Fuck independent suspension.
Idk if it’s just me but he looks so disinterested in this car lol like it took a lot of energy and effort to really pump positive words for this car 😂😂
That's because he doesn't seem to care about the trucks key features. The third row is crippled to fit a live rear axle with a locking differential. With that in addition to a 2-speed transfer case it can be used off road for many, many years. Column shifters are intuitive and don't need to be changed for the sake of 'the competition'. The second row in this truck has a pass through... Why would you put cup holders where they would be kicked? These trucks regularly hit 300,000 miles before they're retired because of the reliable truck-based power train. No turbochargers, no fancy electronic differentials, and no IRS.
I don’t get this car makers, how can a working man afford a damn car with this price, I’m a small business owner and there’s no way I can afford it unless if you wanna be a slave to your bank for 10 yrs 🤔
Damn this Homosexual is so damn irritating to listen to, but I want to see the truck but this sissy is getting on my last nerve and I have to turn it off. Looking for another review😡😡😡
those front turn signals .....cou'dn't they use LED bulbs instead of those single old orange bulbs ... in fact ...for the size of this SUV...They shou'dve made every bulb LED ..
I'd still take this over the Ford. It's dated compared to it but these things are bulletproof. Ford isn't and they haven't been. Ford is in the red when it comes to long term reliability (Chevy isnt). Some people get a good batch like me with my old Grand Cherokees. But many people don't. There's a reason why the Gov buys Tahoes and continue to. Plus you can send one over to Henn and get 1000hp out of it.
Armando Sturzenegger Not B.S. its a known and accepted fact that GM trucks and SUVs are more reliable than Ford's. The LS v8 which is what GM uses in them is known famously in the car industry for long term reliability and efficiency. It is the most common engine for engine swaps. Period
D Joseph To each their own. Fords are good trucks too. If Fords are so awful and break down all the time then police departments all over the country wouldn’t be buying them.
KentB27 Police vehicles tend to have moderate issues actually. Funny enough the old Ford interceptors were much more reliable. The department loves Ford for their fuel efficiency. Which is a plus over the Tahoe or Dodge Charger interceptors.
That is horrible 3rd row space. My 2013 Honda Pilot has more and better 3rd row space and size wise it's a smaller SUV than this. I hope in coming years/ redesigns Tahoe and Yukon fix this issue and give a good 3rd row so I can upgrade :)
idk if anyone's noticed this, but the gm truck's steering wheel is OFF CENTER. If you are sitting straight, the steering wheel is like one or two inches to the right! this drives me crazy. like wth.
I disagree. I do find with the chairs, though, that you need to really be sitting straight. Lots of times, people don't realize they're kind of leaned to the right thigh and *THEY are off-center of the chair and steering column* ...sitting proper, adjusting the seat properly, this thing is a beaut to drive Lights 'n Sirens to hot calls.
James Kahng It’s actually not off center. I own a brand new Tahoe and the steering wheel is perfectly aligned. From different angles it does look off center but when you’re driving it, it’s aligned.
Nah I don’t see this being useful unless you hauling but if they dropped this engine in the new blazer it might help us get past how sadly put together the new blazer is
