john evangelista once the all new model has been out for sometime Ford will start marking them down in price. My friend saved several thousands by waiting for the 2014 Escape instead of the all new 2013 model. But yeah, totally agree. Vehicle prices today are criminal

I Think the reason Ford decided to allow the expedition to get more expensive is that we'll be getting a new bronco in a couple years that will take up a lower price point.

that new expedition looks great from the front, but bad from the back. i like the simple and trucklike, but handsome 2017 design. the 2017 was also one of the last vehicles with good visibility, and i mean actual visibility and not on a screen. they styled it a bit too much like a crossover and not like a truck like it's competitors

The only difference between the Expedition Max and Regular is the cargo space in the rear. All of the other specs and things are the exact same. Such as seating and leg room...

Jamie Leeper Suburban and Yukon XL both come with the 5.3. The 6.2 only comes with the Yukon Denali and Escalades. Also the Tahoe RST as an option.

neil, 85K for a fully loaded Expedition Max. A more basic shorter Expo starts at 52K. A fully loaded Escalade ESV is a bit over 100K. A more basic shorter Escalade starts at around 75K. Bad comparison because those 2 aren't even in the same segment and u would be paying a lot more for a POS Escalade in every possible way!!!SMH😂🤣😂

J Torres Jr 85,000 can get you a pretty loaded Escalade. And trust me the Escalade is an anymore POS than that expedition.

william finnell Expedition is more reliable, the Escalade is one of the least dependable new cars. I refuse to own any luxury brand vehicle, have owned a BMW 5 series, was horrible,my grandfather on my father's side owned a 80's jag, was forgettable so don't remember the name but he hated it, my grandfather on my mom's side had a Cadillac from the 80s, was ok but still had issues, my dad's bro had a Mercedes s class, blew a engine at 17k, and my mother in law owned a range rover sport, wasn't exactly a reliable machine. Quite a few people in my family are doctors/dentists, and engineers and as such make over 6 figures , they all drive fords or toyotas. Ford,toyota,honda etc are the most popular brands amongst people who make over 200k a yr and the f-150 takes the number 1 spot. Why? Because all those brands work, yes a Bmw or Mercedes has a lovely interior, but a Ford/Toyota will be still driving around 20 yrs from now, a Bmw will last a quarter of that time.

The 2003 Expedition was the second gen and it was all new. New frame with new coil over aluminum control arm suspension frt and rear. Independent was introduced on the 2003 model. 1998 through 2002 was the 97 to 2003 F150 platform variant

A really nice update, but the price!!. I had a 16 Platinum that stickered for a little above $65K. To build the 18 would put it around $76K. I can see 2-3K more, but not 11K. I can get a loaded Continental or Limited F-150 for less.

Don't like the idea of a turn knob trans. If you need space in the center console, just but it back on the column. I know that almost nothing comes with a column shifter but I'd prefer it. Makes knowing what position it's in a nonexistent problem

Oh I agree... I personally have a sport package F150 with the Ecoboost. It's just that they don't make a V8 that would improve on it. I test drove all the V8s in full size trucks and the Ecoboost has them all beat except for the sound.

RealCheetahz though its not based on a pickup truck, its still body on frame. Only the range rover and the gls are unit bodied in the large luxury class. All full sized suvs(tahoe, armada-now on the patrol platform as is the qx80, sequoia, expedition) are body on frame.

My biggest surprise is the lack of a low gear range, granted it's not used often, but where I'm from it does come handy if you get stuck in a spot in a snowstorm, sometimes regular 4A or 4 High won't cut it.

When decided to buy a big family vehicle, I spent a long time searching & comparing this segment. I ended up buying a 2014 Limited Expedition. Man, this vehicle is so practical & comfortable in long roads. I never thought i'd enjoy driving a car this size (i got the short wheel base). The new design looks amazing and i am sure Ford made it much more practical, but it cost almost twice as my Expedition.! Still, looking forward to buy one probably as '19 or '20 model. Great video though.

Honestly only reason to buy the new one is the updated sync3, new safety suite and adaptive cruise control (which wasn't available last year even on the 70k+ platinum trim). The 2017 is very handsome and understated even compared to the yukon/tahoe

The Tahoe floor is mentioned while he is in an expedition max, but it's suburban sized. There is no hump in the suburban or Yukon XL third row. The 6.2l engine in the Denali is conveniently not compared to the power numbers of the Ecoboost, but mentioned for pricing. Expedition is a lot nicer now. I won't debate that fact.

The first thing is i like the new design, they are keeping a consistent theme with the merging headlamps and all, the vehicle is a great size and has good features. The only issue i have is that the think is a bit pricey. Not every family can afford to even lease a car so odds are i wont be buying one in the foreseeable future.

Of all the things I've read and heard about Auto Start/Stop, it's definitely not everyone's favorite feature, in fact I don't believe I have ever read or heard about anyone that likes it. I think it was Car & Driver that said it's purely for CAFE and EPA requirements, and that the only time it's beneficial is for prolonged idling, but then you can shut it off yourself. Also, what's wrong with a column mounted gear selector, they are completely out of the way. You can select gears by feel much easier and quicker, and it's in your forward line of vision. I miss my full size trucks with column shifters, they're more natural to use, and really, just how often do most people actually use manual shifting, I forget my car with manual shifting even has it for the most part. Buy the way, the Expedition needs a V8 option.

First thing If I bought this, would be swapping out the V6 for the 5.0L. I like the front but those brake lights.... are too big. It doesn't look like $80k either. Should have maxed out in the low 70k range. I'd take the 2017 with a V8 swap over this. Great review. Never disappoint!

I've owned 7 Expeditions and I'm so glad I bought my '14 because it still had the 5.4. The 6 cyl might get good mileage cruizin around, but slap a trailer on and watch how bad the mileage gets since you're into the turbos all the time. My 5.4s would get almost the same towing or not. And talk about ugly look of the '18s!

With these vehicle prices, I wonder if there is a vehicle price bubble forming... there is no way in 10 years vehicle prices have doubled. 2005 truck I have all optioned out was 40,000 back in the day. Today, it would be 87,000 + truck. buying used is really the way to go these days, theres no reason anyone needs a mortgage to buy a car. These leasing agreements are destroying the industry, people think they are getting a new car every 2-3 years... one they dont even own it and two, they are paying way more than they should be.

While the pricing may be a scare to some. Consider what you are getting. A complete redesign, a new transmission and a upgrade engine and loads of features. Just like the 2018 mustang the price has gone up but you would be foolish to pay Mrsp especially since this is a mass produced vehicle. So they is room to bargain. Besides I put money that they will be a lot of trade ins of the old one. I just wish I could either get x or a plan so it makes it easier to place a order for the 18 mustang gt

20 thousand dollars more than a f150 platinum. 30 thousand more than an expedition platinum. Mercedes Audi or range Rover. Who says screw that buy me a Ford. There's no value in that price. It's bad enough that it only has a v6. Guess Chevy will continue to dominate thiis segment.

whiteandnerdytuba You talk of the V6 as if it's weak. The only thing puny about it is its displacement. Everything else dominates the competition - including the 6.2L V8 offered by GM. The only negative thing that comes with having this over the 6.2 is the exhaust note.

This past weekend for the eclipse I towed an 8000# Camper with my 2016 Expedition. It has the 3.5 ecoboost. I am used to towing with my 5.0 F150, and the ecoboost has noticeably better towing performance.

Even though it isn't by definition, a truck is a vehicle with a bed on the back that is separated from the cab. If everything was called "a truck" then I wouldn't know whether you are talking about one of these or an actual truck meant for hauling things in the back. It's not the chassis it's on, it's the type of vehicle that it is.

Damn buddy you are really mad about this.Where I'm from it's an SUV. To me that looks like a high performance four-wheel-drive vehicle if you want to get into definitions. Sure, it might have a truck frame, but the style of the vehicle doesn't look like a "truck". And I see you highlighted people. As far as I know, my truck can transport people as well. It's just an easier way to differentiate between the two, as when I hear someone say "truck" I immediately think of an actual pickup truck with an open back. I say we agree to disagree because it seems that the definitions can cross both ways.

Great! they ruined the Explorer by turning it into a car in 2011, then the Mustang in 2015, and now the Expedition!!! WTF Ford, get your life together!!!! the Ford Expedition looked great from 2007 to 2017, but it is ruined in 2018, you could have made it share F150 parts to save money, but they didn't because they're sooo stupid, they have no manual transmissions in their trucks or the expedition, double stupid! they priced the expedition like hell, you could have put the 3.3, 2.7ecoboost, and 5.0 to lower the price a bit, or added a manual transmission to further knock the price down, which is fine for some people. FORD!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, being a RAM guy, that's good to have that option, but still, they could knock off a big chunk of the Expedition Price with simply puting a manual in their XLT with a 3.3L or a 5.0L V8which is fine for some people, the only reason I like the Expedition is that it still looks like a truck but they ruined the "Truckness" I like with the new one

Feminine is a good way to describe the back half of this SUV. Looks a lot like a minivan in this video. Would be nice to see a little bit more aggressive body styling to set it apart from the competition. Also would be nice to see a different front end so it doesnt look like an explorer.
