2018 seat review and a quick update on the nav. Will be doing a bigger review on nav soon. Link to Cruisemans instructions on how to update. • Update for 2018 Honda ...
Very accurate seat information. I have a DTC and my wife hates the seat. Says it hurts her lower back and that the bike rides too hard. She prefers our 2009 BMW K1200 LT. We are keeping the LT for now but the Honda is an engineering masterpiece and much easier for me to handle. The Honda is just plain fun to ride. I love the bike. Going to improve the seat this winter.
Thank you for your input Pete. I have an 08 GW Airbag model that I really like for long runs. It’s been fully upgraded with accessories and Traxxion Dynamics upgrades on the front fork bearing and springs. I am on the cusp of selling it to upgrade to the 18 or 20 Wing Tour DCT but I am concerned that my wife will not be as happy with her accommodations on our 300 plus mile days. My other bike is a Victory Cross Country Tour which I enjoy fully has tons of room and comfort for 2 up riding. My dilemma is whether I should let my Wing go and move on or hold on to the greatest long distance 2 up tourer ever made. Tough decisions! Lol😎
Personally I would stick with the 08. Since you have upgraded with Traxxion. My wife prefers my. 07 over the 18. I did demo the DCT, I went with the 6 speed manual.
Hi there! I just bought a leftover new 2018 Standard GoldWing! Pick it up in a few days as it's coming from another store. Any gotchas or anything I should ask the dealer to look over before I pick the bike up? I'm coming from a BMW K1600 GT mainly for better comfort and ease of mind reliability. BMW has been good to me however, 8yr warranty Honda is offering now how could I go wrong? :) Just hope the bike likes sport mode because I do a lot of back roads and plan to use sport most of the time.
Can I ask you what u think of the satellite navigation system of your wing from the owners prospective ! I've heard some complaints that it's generally poor !!!
I guess it depends on perspective. I use SatNav for point to point directions. A lot of people complain about you can’t program enough way points, so they can’t plan a whole trip. I find it works fine for me once I learned how to use it. It does give you different routes and hasn’t let me down. Since I don’t plan every stop I want to make it works for me. The recent update did help with improved location.
Hey Pete, great video. I'm looking to buy mine but I'm short! 5'6" and although I've taken the bike for a test drive once already, I was tip toeing it at stops. I spoke to Cruiseman and John from wingsoft hasn't responded yet. I realize that there is almost no room to remove any foam. My next stop is traxxion Dynamics and probably going with a shorter monoshock. Can you provide any advice for short riders? Thank you.
On my backrest on my 2005 Goldwing I bought the Sheepskin cover from Alaskaleather.com In the summer time it's great for controlling you back sweat on your bike. I just took delivery on my 2018 Goldwing Tour and I will be getting another one for this new bike. Thanks for the vid man. Ride Safe out there.
How do you check to see if your software is updated on The unit? Im looking tonpurchase one and the dealer stated the unit is updated but im not sure how to know 🤔.
We spent the money, which is too bad in a way, and put a Corbin on. But we love it, so much better than OEM. Also Honda should have added the XM antenna from the factory.
What's the deal with the BMW R1200 GS in the garage? I have a Harley Ultra Classic and a Kawasaki KLR 650. I want another bike, don't know if it should be a new goldwing or a BMW R1250 GSA. I would love to here your input / advice. Thanks (Orlando Guy)
I enjoy the BMW as well. It’s a 2007 R1200R. I almost went with the BMW r 1200 RT instead of the Goldwing. The Wing won out due to the reliability of Honda and I previously had a 2007 Wing. If I lived somewhere where I could do some adventure riding I would be looking at a GS. I’m in SWFL.
@@Petesmotoadventure Yes - I may try to do something about the seat first. Do you find yourself leaning forward as you ride? I do. It's so different from my Road Glide Ultra.
Good reports. I bought new 2019 Tour DCT about a month ago and love it. Also bought Utopia backrest and will install shortly. As for Navigation i agree with Cruiseman. I bought new Garmin ZUMO XT and mounted on left handlebar. Really great unit with terrific readability in sunlight and excellent quick touch features. I’m not far from you in Sarasota so hope to bump into you one day...
