Test ride of the 2018 Honda CB1000R.
I first saw the new Honda CB1000R at the EICMA2018 and I thought that it was one of the most beautiful bikes there, so I am incredibly happy to have had the chance to try it.
The engine is really consistent throughout all the rev range, with a lot of torque available already from a few thousand rpm. In sport mode it likes to wheelie in the first two gears, but never finding you unprepared (unlike the Yamaha MT-10/FZ-10).
In the corners it feels quite light and it's easy to change directions. Strangely the brake and suspension settings are quite European-like, being quite sporty. This is a characteristic that I really appreciate and rarely find in Japanese naked bikes.
Overall, this is the liter 4 cylinder I would buy right now.

Excellent video, actually showed us how the bike reacts to quick acceleration, hard braking, left,right switchbacks and two quick high speed runs up to 138-139 mph ( with ease I might add) The bike seems to be very well balanced with excellent brakes and a nice torquey Honda inline 4 cylinder !! Looks like a beautiful place to ride as well !! Excellent Test Ride !! I want one a CB1000R!!

Thank you very much for the feedback! And yes, you are completely right. It’s a very “European” bike on this matter. Stiff suspension, reactive brakes, quick in the direction changes. The engine is perfectly tuned for this kind of road use, it’s the best inline 4 I have tried (I love V-Twins, so I may be biased in this direction).

Congrats and thank you! First person to upload a video of this bike that actually knows how to ride and was not afraid to demonstrate it's capabilities. I could not sit through another video of someone riding around slow speed just off idle in 4th and 5th gear.

I know you have already heard it but what a great video! Thanks for not putting music over it too. I have been riding for a long time but never sport bikes. Well my Sportster 48 is as close as I have to "sport" right now lol. I am looking into sport bikes and plan to go ride a few today. Finally someone is showing the true potential of this bike. RU-vid is full of wackos knowing nothing about this bike. Own it and its absolutely thrilling, aggressive and of course quick and fast. Made my decision after test riding mt10, z1000 and monster. Great bikes but I loved this one. I don't understand how people ride not to know how good is this machine. sometimes I like people being in dark because then I wanna see their jaw dropped.

The ybr125, like most budget 125s, has marshmallow rear suspension and skinny tires, I don't dare corner hard on them either. As soon as you try a larger bike you'll find cornering much easier, despite (in fact, partly because of) their weight. They have wider tires, lower centre of gravity and more stability.

I had tried the 2010 CB1000 and I had figured it wasn't my style in what concerned the setup. I had a Monster 696 at the time and had felt the suspensions too soft and the braking not as strong and direct (it is also true that I had little to no experience). I loved this one because it's much more "European" in what concerns the setup: firm suspensions and strong braking. Much sportier.

Ma sai che invece io penso proprio di sì. Non ho mai visto gente guidare in maniera così sconsiderata in paesi civili come Svizzera ad esempio o Inghilterra, Svezia, Olanda... Credo proprio che tu dia l’impressione che in Italia non esista la legge e che ci si possa comportare come dei teppisti per le strade. Che tipo di insegnamento credi di dare? Ne conosco un paio, anche provenienti dalle nazioni da te indicate (esclusa l’Olanda), ma ritengo che le nostre posizioni su questo resteranno invariate a prescindere da come continui questa conversazione. Però, se può metterti l’animo in pace, mi sono dato una regolata visto che un paio d’anni fa ho fatto un brutto incidente (per il quale non ho avuto un briciolo di colpa anche secondo le forze dell’ordine) a causa di una svista di un tipo in macchina che ha ritenuto lo stop superfluo.

Vedi io ne faccio un discorso di tipo Nazionalista; se noi Italiani non siamo i primi a rispettare noi stessi ed il nostro paese gli altri di sicuro non lo fanno. Capisco bene il divertimento di andare veloci sulle nazionali ma è anche diseducativo per il neopatentato diciottenne che si ammazza due mesi dopo l’acquisto della moto. Non sono un moralista ne bacchettone ma credo che la pista esista proprio per questo o al massimo se proprio devi vai in autostrada o iscriviti al tt sull’isola di Man 😉 P.s guidare in modo sconsiderato è certamente una prova di pelo/incoscienza non necessariamente di una buona tecnica

well there are only two other models the first, which looked a lot more like this, then the 2nd. which had Honda's triangle headlight thing and wasn't that great... This is a true successor though.

Nice ride man :) 237 km/h.. wow. Actually I know this road between Scilla and Villa San Giovanni. I've been ridinng this road in the opposite direction (from Reggio) when I was on my Calabrian trip. This bike is my dreambike now. Greetings from Czechia ;)

The asphalt quality is usually awful, but if you know where to go, you find roads like this one (they remake the surface every 1-2 years)

Cutting the gas on a curve = bad pilot. Just for you : the only moment when the gas are cut, it's on braking. This bike is super smooth and you manage to have bad shakes on the angle. I suggest you to not push until you've level up.

You're right on some degree. I was not pushing the bike or myself, given that I did not know the bike. I always keep a high enough margin in order to accomodate for my errors and unexpected stuff. Anyway, throttle control is one of the things I constantly try to improve, thanks for the feedback
