I can understand where you are coming from. This truly inspired me because I have a 2000 Honda Civic going to almost 300,000 miles. I truly love my car. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in this world bec that’s my first car I bought n paid for in full but I need a upgrade. And Hyundai Elantras are one of the cars I really want in my future. I don't even know you but man I'm so proud of you. I also worked my ass off and a few days ago traded in my 06 Kia Rio for a brand new 2018 Rio and man... All you kids out there (I'm only 22 so I'm a kid too in a lot of ways) keep working even those days that you feel like you can't take it anymore keep on keeping on guys. I'm 22 with my own apartment and a brand new car and believe me, those things are worth continuing to work my ass off for. Keep it up guys, you absolutely can do it. I love seeing things like this.

Btw that button at 4:40 isn’t for snow it is traction control, when disable it distributes the same amount of power to both of the front wheels, it may be beneficial when stuck in snow but not meant to be driven in wet conditions

I match your excitement!!! I just got a Red 2017 Elantra Value Editon on Monday!! It was bittersweet because I had to get rid of my 2011 Ford Focus! My Elantra has everything I wanted in a car except leather seats. I have tan interior too!! I’m extremely happy & I’m happy for you, you’re a hard working woman & I’m happy you have your car!!

Just bought my first car with my own money today. Just like you I never spent on myself id just save. So today I felt guilty I finally spent my money on a dream car but now I don't feel guilty. Matthew Ng i actually looked into the Mazda 3 a lot! I went between that and the Elantra! I choose the Elantra over all of them because the cost is better! And you get more for your money. For instance this model the value edition you get... sunroof, heated seats, and Apple car play, and a brand new car design. Meanwhile the Mazda 3 you didn’t get all that, and it was even more expensive.... plus the 2 colors I wanted costed extra with Mazda! Idk why! But that annoyed me!
I have a 2017 Value Edition. The major difference between the 17 and 18 Value Editions is that the 17 has powered drivers seat with lumbar with rear drum and front disk brakes, where the 18 has a manual driver's seat with all wheel disk brakes, because people were complaining about it not having all wheel disks so Hyundai did that. The audio buttons on the steering wheel have 2nd function if held down (Mode is power, up and down are radio tune in radio and FF/rewind with connected devices). For FM/AM radio in the menu list you can view all of the stations in range of the vehicle and in XM mode it shows all of the stations by category (classical, rock, country...). If your infotainment screen ever freezes or something happens to it (never has for me), there is a small hole next to the volume knob. That is the restart hole and just take something small like a sharp pencil, paper clipm pen with point... and press that and the screen will restart hopefully solving whatever the problem is.That copy button on the wheel along with arrows and ok under it controls the screen between speedometer and rpms, there are a ton of cool settings and other info in their in there. It shows you your individual tire pressures for all 4 tires, in the settings gear you can put in a maintenance timer by miles, months, or both. It can also show you what you are listening to. In the settings gear if you hold down the ok button over a setting it will give you a quick description on it. Some settings are the smart trunk (to stop it from opening temporarily for just the current time you have it locked while it is counting down press the lock button on the key fob and it will stop counting and won't until locked the next time), units (°C/°F for both the climate ctrl/exterior temp), auto lock (shifting out of park or at speed being 8mph and if set to speed can't unlock while above 8 mph and if unlocked under speed will auto relock when back up where if on shift will not relock until shifting in and out of park), auto unlock (either shift to park or when you turn the car off) notifications (switching gears, switching headlights, switching wipers, and when you first turn on the car if you have the steering wheel turned to not hit the car next to you when backing out), RCTA (rear cross traffic alert on/off), welcome lights (lights in door handles and headlights/tail lights), and more...If while in the radio screen on an HD FM station if you go to "Menu" and press "Info" the album picture, artist, and song title is displayed. The center armrest between the front seats slides by holding down the lever to open it and sliding it forwards or backwards. Speaking about that armrest the cup holders for the rear seat fold out from the back of it which I like, because when you have 3 people in the back you can still use it and it just goes between their legs in a non-uncomfortable way. In the setup menu if you hit the icons or something like that button you can customize what is on the bottom home screen dock which I did, because the current icons are also the physical hard buttons under it. 4:33 as far as alumination goes, you can also customize the brightness of the infotainment screen too in setup, display, you can pick a brightness level for day and night (I do brightest during day and darkest during the night); from their you can also define what happens when you hit the "disp" display button being either the whole screen just goes black, goes black with a soft white digital clock/date, or analog clock with date (I do digital, because it is quicker to read and unlike the Sonata, the Elantra doesn't have its own non-infotainment clock). As with the clock, you don't have to go through the setup menu to change it, if you just press the clock on the top middle of the screen from any screen if will bring you to that setup screen. It does have a toggle for daylight savings where it will automatically switch, but I have had mine for over a year so it has gone through 2 time changes and that has never seemed to work though. In the winter when the temperature is ≤39°F it will ding at you to warn you there may be ice which can get annoying. In the beginning I actually confused it with rear cross traffic alert a few times, but it sounds a little different and you get used to it. Also, it has an auto locking thing where if you hit the unlock and don't open a door within 30 seconds it will automatically re-lock itself. Also, if you hear any raddling noises it is your sunglasses in the holder by front lights. With the visor mirror the light switch when on sticks out further than the visor when closed, so it will turn off by itself when you shut the visor and I like that you have to switch it on, so the bulb won't burn out as fast from it being on during the day when it is unnecessary. If you have it, the carpet in the trunk is dual sided, so if you put anything messy in the trunk the other side is rubber that is easier to clean than carpet. Also, the low fuel light comes on when left with a 25 mile range. Just a couple tips to help you get started that I have found for roughly 1.5 years and still love it like on day one.

That's weird that they didn't go over it all. When I got mine at Vision Hyundai in Canandaigua NY, the guy went over everything with me even though that I was finishing his sentences. I guess also just play around with things. There is nothing bad that you can really do, just do it one at a time so if you don't like something you can undo it. And again, with the settings from the wheel button, if you hold the ok button down it will bring up a pop up with a description. Glad I could help and enjoy your new car!
