Did not see that coming. Use to be a Hyundai hater in the past but my first car was a Hyundai i20 2010. It was a great car. Now the i30 N. Love what they have done to it. If its as fun as u said Amelia I would gladly give this a shot. I love fun and engaging cars to drive. I really hope it comes to my country soon. Maybe who knows my next purchase to well be an i30 N
That engine sound is awesome. I got mine this Wednesday and already have over 450 km on it. Just cruising through the towns with around 2k rpm hearing the burble of the exhaust in open mode.
Wow Amelia, sensational review, 1 part funny, 2 parts of excitement a nd 3 parts add fun and mix. Haha it's great to see you again, as much as all the viewers are now madly in love with Jenny... It makes me very happy to see your beautiful smile and face with the professional level of presentation that is in all your videos. You really showed off all its strong points and features. The only big one is badge snobbery just like there sister company at kia. Awesome review as always and you are looking hot in those shorts 😀
You guys are so lucky. I own a 2012 Elantra Touring (i30) here in the states. One of the best cars i have ever owned. I would buy this i30N in a heartbeat, but unfortunately there are no plans to bring it to the states as of yet. Instead we get the veloster N which I am not a fan of. Also I think Kia/Hyundai are establishing themselves in the performance market with cars like the Stinger and the Genesis coupe.
Its rumored that Genesis will have a new 2 door coupe but it wont be like my 2013 coupe but more of a luxury car under the Genesis badge so you know it will be high in price.
Well the Genesis Coupe doesn't exist anymore, ever since 2015. I think the Veloster N is somewhat meant to take its place. As for certain models being brought over or not, you can blame the US (and Canada) for stubbornly clinging to its own outmoded safety standards that differ from the ones that are basically accepted in every other country on Earth.
We have an i30 SR Premium, (which I like to call ''N' Lite'). Plenty for we seniors who in our youth owned a current model Jag XKE, that is, an 'E' Type. If we were younger, the 'N' would be a fine alternative, albeit, not a head turner, but a brilliant example of how the auto industry has seen the Koreans coming for Toyota and indeed the Euros.
saving money for that new dct auto of this i30N...heard thats coming to aus in 2019..hopefully it comes with a sunroof as well...its tiring to drive a manual for everyday use especially for city driving
My wife is an i30SR Turbo Petrol Premium i30 MY'18 owner, (the same understated hue as the 'N' on test)), which I like to call "N" "LITE' & as Amelia so intuitively says, the 'N''s main problem is not the car or its capability, it's badge snobbery. Thanks Amelia!
Spot on, every time I get on reviews like these for the I30 and future Veloster N you'll sure to spot at least half of the comments are from badge snobs.
Firstly, I am a motorist in the U.K, and I would much rather own the Hyundai i30 N anyday over a Merc A-Class A45 for sure. It'll be a subtle head turner. When would this little ride be released in the U.K market? Great little insight to this, Hyundai's first N car :)
Good review, good car... Yes, Hyundai swiped ONE man from BMW - "M" chief head, Albert Biermann. But in the 70's BMW swiped a whole team of Ford Engineers when Ford were the leaders in motor racing (Escort RS2000, Escort Mexico) and when BMW were no where...
Paul Taylor the dct used by Hyundai cant deal with that torque, that's why dry clutch dct is available only with low to moderate torque engines, Hyundai engines from 2.0 liter and above use torque converter transmission
Of course! We have 2 manual transmission cars in the family right now. It would be 3, except the third one isn't offered in manual anymore. Used to have an older version of it in manual, though. There are still a great many of us here who ENJOY driving manual transmissions.
You hit the nail on the head, badge snobbery is it's biggest hurdle. I think people would be silly to spend more $ for less performance (I'm looking at you VW). Albert Biermann knows his stuff.
Why would you worry about things like that? Do you buy cars to sell them later? Just enjoy life man, it's too short.... I'm 40 years old and finally making enough money to do that, and I regret everyday for not living life for myself in the past Just rent/buy whatever you want and enjoy it, and if you don't like it? Fuck it, save up and just get a new car 2 or 3 years later.... That's life
When you add in the price to repair your Golf when the crappy 3 year warranty runs out, you won't lose with the i30N. Plus the value of Golf GTi will plummet when enough people have driven an i30N, MUCH more fun to drive, a lot faster too..
You are right! Just not 80% of the footage. More like 5%. But either way not good enough. Our videos should be enjoyed with full clarity so viewers can properly assess the cars. I will pass your recommendations on to them ;-)
CarTell.tv highly appreciate you guys taking in very nice criticism! My only intent is to try to help you guys with some useful feedback :) I look forward to seeing you guys implement all these suggestions
You forgot to tell that the i30N losses on the track against most competitors. For example, the cheaper and equally powered Peugeot 308 GTI weights less, is more agile and is therefore faster around the track. Its exhaust note doesn't sound as good tho and it obviously lacks all the tech goodies a more modern car like this has to offer.
In a track comparison by Wheels magazine in Australia the i30N lapped the circuit quicker than the Peugeot 308 GTi. The i30N also comes with a 5 year warranty that even covers track day use, the Peugeot does not.
Veeery good review... Well done Amelia!! ...and finally a I30N in nice colour, that actually made me like the car - the stupid baby blue from the launch of I30N was truly awful!
While hot is exactly what comes to mind ... this review offers nothing beyond that. You don't review a hot hatch as if it's a family car...you burn some rubber!
Odd choice of lipstick colour . The car appears to be great value for the money . Together with Kia , they lead in safety ''as is'' before expensive options on ''Euro'' brands . To me the downside would be the looks , but I am sure its looks appeal to many (front of a Ford Focus , side of an Audi A3 Sportback with the rear of a Volkswagen Golf)
Sounds like a Dump truck and it looks like a grocery getting soccor driving mother. The only good thing about it is the beauty behind the wheel Amelia she is a Doll. I just wish that she went crazy on the throttle when she revved it up because she loves revving cars. It would still be a long stretch that exhaust note is Narley
