Ever tested La Crema Chardonnay Monterey vs La Crema Chardonnay Sonoma Coast? What do you like best, in the $10-13 range, if my preference is for buttery, with good mouth feel (but no harsh oak)? One of my favorites is Sonoma Cutrer, but that's a higher price range.
I’m looking for a Chardonnay that’s buttery and oaky, I don’t like a ton of sweet or crisp fruit flavor in Chardonnay… and price range ideally under $15 😅 any recommendations?
I had Sonoma Cutter’s Chardonnay Saturday and was great. It’s not under $15 but under $30 which is my price cap. If I want a Chardonnay under $15, I’ll just stick to Kendall Jackson.
I am not a big fan of Chards either but working for my company we get to try wines before they are released into stores. My favorites to date our Borne of Fire Chard , Michael David freakshow chard and 1000 stories barrel aged chard! All are very affordable in the 13 to 15 dollar range. I would love to watch you review them.
It used to be the only thing she drank. Then I exposed her to some different wines when I first started getting into wine. She never looked back once she found Sauvignon Blanc.
The sounds like it would have been a perfect introductory episode to "Friday whine with Hailey". So is it the oaked flavor that she does not like with regards to a lot of chardonnay. Would love to know. For me I love anoak chardonnay a but up here in Washington, most of them age stainless aged and are crisp fruit bombs .
She has grown away from liking a lot of the oak characteristics that get imparted into white wines. Once she found NZ Sauvignon Blanc, then she has leaned hard into liking fresh, grassy, lighter bodied whites. I've had her try some unoaked and lightly oaked Chards lately and she hasn't hated them. They aren't her first choice though.
I get my wine from a few places. H-E-B is our local grocery chain and is the largest wine retailer in the state of Texas. They tend to have a pretty good selection and tend to focus more on the average consumer. Total Wines and More is around and so is Specs. They tend to be where I go when I want to find something a little more specific or hard to find. We also have a specialty wine shop that sources some really crazy stuff but almost all of that is out of the price range for this channel.
