2018 Land Rover Discovery Owner's Review Part 2 

Hi David, I thought the 5 seater with the Capability Pack would be a plus when I go to sell it because many off roader have a lot of gear it the back and the 7 seats take up a lot of under floor storage space. If you order a D5 now you will have an upgraded info centre and instruments. Also the V6 is changing to a twin turbo. I have heard of 6 month delivery time because of these changes. Also they may be built in Europe instead of UK. I am very happy with mine except for the fickle Infotainment Centre, it is very weak for a car of worth this amount of money.

Hi Peter, thanks for watching. Depending which country the D5 is heading the 2022 standard features and options varied. In Australia I have notice a few differences now. 21" wheels are standard which are less off-roadable plus 20" tyres have greater choices. I think a 20" wheel is a no cost option. The rear locking diff is an option even on the off road option. A full size wheel is a no cost option. Enjoy the D5 when you get it. Let me know how you like it.

You were the one who inspired me to do Discovery Videos. I am sorry to see you off the "air". Maintenance ? I'm hopeless with stuff like that. I am building a new house with a bigger garage, I might try then. Why did you remove you videos?

I aspire try again and make them better. I am/was working on a towing video but I need a better mic to stop all the wind noise, also I would like to share what I have learned about maintenance. Hopefully I can get something up soon!

The maintenance and towing info is a great idea. I use a Rode Microphone link www.rode.com/microphones/smartlav-plus On my iPhone I use an App "Voice Record Pro" and then sync audio in Final Cut pro. I use a GoPro 3 & 5 plus a Nikon P900. What editing program do you use?

Hi David, thanks for your kind words. If you are in Australia you get the 225KW engine but not the sunroof in HSE. ( Ref rules.config.landrover.com/jdxl/en_au/l462_k19/3qc0n/a-ag462_a-hselux_a-std_a-std-wb/jdxmodel.html ) After finally getting a software update my SE is running really well. It takes a while to understand the safety features as they react different in each of the off road modes which can be confusing. As I learn more I will put them in my coming videos. Hi Kristy. Thanks for watching. I have had no oil issues other than a reset with a software update. The info centre had a premature date to change the oil. I had an oil change and filter at 6 months because I don't like new engines having old oil. I read in an Australian D5 forum that a member just ordered a new TDV6 and then was contacted by the dealer to tell him it would be 2 months later and have a twin turbo motor out of the RR Sport. The UK LR Web site shows 306HP (228KW) TDV6 so it does look as if the new engine will be in U.S. & Australia next year. @@leighwilson1524 Thank you for the reply. It seems to be quite a polarising vehicle. I drove the 2018 RR sport with the twin turbo 6 last week. Very smooth powerful engine. Should be a good match with the Disco5. Looking forward to your next update on how the Disco is travelling!

Hi Marco, I have had a software update which stops the premature "service required" warning coming on. I have a faulty SD nav card replaced and have an intermittent reverse camera issue that it is booked in for. This has dragged out mainly due to dealer wanting to fix one issue at a time. Mechanically the car has been faultless.

My dealer had their 2nd go today at trying to fix it and failed. Their testing equipment shows no errors. I am sending them phots of a Blue Screen,a Black Screen, SD not detectable and the word Navigation showing instead of the street name. The rest of the car is trouble free.

Hi Tatuksa, Yes my car is still trouble free. No warranty work needed. My iPhone latest OS update has cause some intermittent Bluetooth connection issues but in all fairness it is not the Discovery's fault. My phone is having trouble connecting to my Rip Curl watch. Sorry to hear about your Discovery problems. Most of your issues sound like software related. I had on going software problems until I rang Land Rover Australia 1800 625 642. Insist that a technician from LR head Office attend the Service Department. Also take a look at Land Rover Discovery 5 Owners Group - Australia for lots of assistance and to see if you issues are share in a friendly Group. The Dealer has a different attitude once Head Office gets involved. Good luck mate.
