Thank you for another insightful video, and congratulations for making in through a tough year! I'm just finishing my PhD and stepping my toe in the world of career academia, so really valuable to hear your reflections on balancing making decisions for career and 'personal' reasons. I have 2 very young kids so have decided to only apply for part time jobs etc this year, it feels like academic career suicide, but I'm determined to find a level of balance somehow! Also, your BuJo planning videos are LIFE to me! Very much looking froward to your 2019 planning vid!

Happy New Year Ellie! Great video! 2018 was also a difficult year for me - especially career-wise when I made decisions based on what I *thought* I should be doing and ended up in a toxic situation that impacted massively on my mental health and spent half of 2018 getting back to a stage where I was fit to work again. Massive lesson learned that no job or environment that is hurting you is worth losing your mental health. When the basics go, the rest is soon to follow. I think seeing you had taken on a part-time BA was partly the reason I went back to uni to study journalism part-time, it was something I always wanted to do before I did the PhD and it has played a massive part in healing from the first half of the year. I have similar goals to you - get fit again (I am also doing red January!) and seek balance. After the first 2 weeks I had had off properly in .. years - where I haven't let work bleed in, I can see how fried I was when I was trying to tackle monumental things without rest. Anyway, wish you all the best wishes for 2019 and I can't wait to see you basking in your fresh book glow (I think I want to write a book now...) x
