autoTRADER.ca test drive of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S 560 4Matic, presented by Justin Pritchard. This one's a nearly perfect flagship cruiser! Read the full review here: www.autotrader.ca/expert/20180...
No other large luxury sedan looks like a Mercedes S-Class. The styling actually seems to lessen the visual size of this car. By comparison, the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII looks like a motorhome! The S-Class Mercedes is proof that large cars can look sleek and graceful, while offering a world-class driving experience.
This is the car that has and still does outshine at the valet. Classic, understated, powerful, and like an Armani tux, never a bad choice. When you buy this type of vehicle, you aren't trying to get attention, you have money, you have confidence, this just is the best way to get from point A to B, and know you aren't missing ANYTHING other cars offer. Peace of mind in a car that always sets the bar, and ALWAYS has. Tried and true...not trendy. As for the freaky Tesla fanatics, apples, and oranges. Also, not to be too harsh, but when it comes to the LUXURY segment, and features and interior styling/comfort, this "Big Boy Benz" is a spa compared to a Tesla interior. You can't even adjust your head rests in a Tesla!? They have an iPad stuck in the center of the "dash", and old Porsche seats. Not very luxurious. Tesla's attention rests under the hood, so again, apples, oranges. Different clientele. Some are into pure tech, others a more well rounded car. Eventually when Mercedes is finished perfecting its EQ line, then what will make Tesla stand out in the luxury segment?? Every company eventually falls behind at some point, and history always repeats itself. Mercedes has always managed to come out on top, this most recent S, with its global sales proves its success. It doesn't need to be aggressive in the media or publicity, it is just such a well run company, they know what to do to make an amazing car.
If you want an S-class, then, get one, may not be a 2019 but it's still a Mercedes Benz, 2015 to 2016 can be purchased for between 48 and 60 grand full equipped..
I own the W220 S65 model, still to date it turns head everywhere I go.... and I wouldn't trade it with any S65 of today due to all the unnecessary nannies and gadgets on them!
In April 2022 I test drove a 2019 Mercedes best 560 and I’m sorry to say that I felt every bump crack and other imperfection on the road. I don’t know what is the hype about its great suspension. It honestly did not feel any different from my existing 2018 Toyota Camry, in terms of the smoothness of the ride on those road imperfections.
Shouldn't reviews be at least also somewhat critical? How are we expected to hold the reviewer at a high standard, if he/she only mentions the car's pros, hardly without a word about its cons? Or should we assume the car is simply perfect?
Tesla model S is a far better car - not only more luxurious, but faster and more efficient as well. Mercedes better get their EV game up to snuff, or they're going to get railroaded.
Better? By what metric? If it's by the EV standard of performance, reliability and range, then Tesla reigns! Otherwise, when it comes to ALL AROUND metrics on reliability, comfort, and luxury, the Mercedes S Class 560 still sits on that throne.
