Wonderful to see a saxophone solist, and a young man at that. He's good, excellent in fact. If he's capable of this at his age, he's going to be dynamite in just a few years. Wonderful, super, brill.

From a recent post by Joan on Instagram, I learned that Koldo is about 2 years younger than Elsa Armengou. I think he is 12 in 2018. So, he is really ahead of the curve, so to speak.

This video has been up for several days, but I just now got a chance to watch/listen. Wow, it's great! And Kold Munné is only 13 years old?? Are you kidding me? This is great news for us SAJB fans!. And for those wondering how Joan does this, time after time, there's a wonderful series of articles about him and the SAJB written by Bengt-Ove Boström, the newest of which just came out today. Wow! Great job by Feat Koldo Munne. He held that whole solo without resorting even once to any superfluous moves. Strictly in the grove of the tune with improvisatory expression worthy of the true beauty of his instrument. Without affectation Feat has produced another classic for the Saint Andreu Jazz Band. Great charts and big band execution. How on earth does Joan keep doing it? Congratulations all around.

Without taking away from Koldo, this solo was first performed ('written') by Duke's alto star, Johnny Hodges. Andrea M. was the first member of the SAJB to play it. She impressed Josep Traver with this when he first met her at age 14. (2009?) This is on RU-vid somewhere. Her tempo at the start was a bit faster though near the end they were about the same.

I grew up in New Orleans listening to some great musicians who are blessed with jazz in their genes. Mr Chamorro and this talented group of young musicians have tapped into this genetic pool somehow, and from Spain. Impressive!

@Butch 78 The intro, the arrangement and the solo is a big reminiscence of Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges, as shown in an RAI recording from 1964. Dukes "problem" is that he didn't have Freddie Green on guitar, but SAJB have her! ;) Hugs & kisses to Carla!

To go further: This improvisation on 'On the Sunny Side' was written by Johnny Hodges. It was first played at in the SAJB in about 2011 when Andrea first impressed Josep T. It has also been recorded by Joan Marti. It will probably be a 'challange piece' for alot sax players going forwards as it is, obviously, both a classic and a challange!

I can no longer say that I am amazed by the output of SAJB and it's individual musicians. But I am constantly delighted. They have made the sensational commonplace. Koldo could swing with any of the greats and he has only been playing for about 5 years. What a future.

Lovely to see the other video of him as 7 year old playing after only 4 months on the instrument and here as a 13 year old playing as well as he does. No idea what Joan does in his teaching method but , should be copied the world over.

Cuando un" alfonsina y el mar" cantado por esta chica hermosa......MUSICA y letra ARGENTINA, el brasil canta lindo , ARGENTINA CANTA MEJOR......sus canciones son propias y su musica tambien . La bossa nova , origen jazz no brasilero no autentico sean eclepticos , recreen la musica en son de jazz hay mucha lera para probar .......saludos a todos ustedes
