Sundowner I started bowling in the early 90's with a green urethane hammer with man weight, 16 pounds. You actually had to make the ball hook, and throw it like a man. Your hand actually hurt after bowling, and you didn't have to throw it 18 mph. And if you hit it half pocket you left a flat corner pin, or a 5-7, 8-10, 7-9, or 5-10 for people like me who throw with the wrong hand. I am a 190 bowler, who bowled for Lindenwood University from 02-06, and averaged 225 in league and 200 in college on the sport shot. I am nowhere near 225, or 200 without the resin Mack truck hitting stuff made today. Because of that, I shot my first 820 series 7 years ago , and after that league season I have never thrown a league game again. The integrity of the game is completely gone. You have guys who throw 25 strikes a week and average 230 or 220 who would be a 170 bowler if you took that destroyer of the pins out of there hand. It's a disgrace to the sport of bowling. Guys who throw 6 in a row and whiff spares constantly but then follow it up with 3 or 4 in a row. When you have 1/8th of league participation of the 60s-80s but 400 times as many honor scores the integrity is gone.

Sorry but I am very passionate about the game still and it frustrates the hell out of me. Some of these guys truly believe they're that good.

I would say everything you mentioned is because of the easy oil patterns, not reactive resin. The two handers and high revvers of today would still destroy a typical house shot with rubber or urethane. However on a sport shot, you have to have a good aim, reactive resin or urethane, doesnt matter.

Robin Andersson I agree the conditions for a house shot are way too easy, but the patterns in my mind are not the main problem, it is the equipment. Before resin the house shots were not super challenging and a good bowler average 195-205, usually the best bowler in the league averaged was 205 maybe 210, and that's pushing it. The half pocket scout that Belmo and the high rev rate guys get constantly might happen once or twice a night for those guys with urethane. Not 3 or 4 times a game.

Stupid two-handed-shit? You lost all credibility with that line. All sports evolve. embrace it instead of living in the past. Not saying all changes are good, but two handed bowling is something that is taking over the sport, and you just gotta accept it.
