A quick tutorial on how to replace the engine air filter on 2018+ Subaru Crosstreks. I have upgraded to the K&N Filter because it is washable and will last way longer than OEM grade filters.

be mindfull of the air filter upgrade, while the K&N air filter allow a easier air flow, the upgrade will increase the PPM of particles in the air by an average of three time the regular amount. meaning more air but more contaminated air . this upgrade only increase the crosstrek HP by 3-4 at most it might be good in a race track environment but if you live in region with a lot of sand or nasty northen road covered in salt during the winter not a good choice of filter.

Are you sure about your statement? I believe the K&Ns filter the are more completely. Yes, they allow more air in, but it's more filtered, too. Plus, it's not necessarily for the HP increase. It's more for the cost, at least for me. $65 every ten or so years versus $30 ish every two...

I can't get the left side of the box to perfectly close. Before I snap the butterfly straps on or put in the new filter, I tried aligning the bottom pins in the hole first. Then I add the filter and close it up. Even after trying again, the left side still doesn't close all the way while the right looks perfect....

i assume this would fit the new 2021 sport crosstrex right?

It should. I would just double check with K&N’s website since the 2021 models come with the 2.5 liter engine in both the Sport and Limited models. This vehicle is a 2019 Limited with the 2.0 Liter motor

The 2.5L engine on the Crosstrek Sport is the same as the Forester. The 33-5064 will fit in the latest gen Ascent, Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza, XV. Subaru likes to use the same parts across production line since it's more efficient that way.
