I got one of these for my first car back in September. It's my pride and joy. Subaru nailed it. The visibility is very good and fuel economy is amazing. The fourth generation design has held up EXTREMELY well.
I see a lot of comments about the dated look of the car. Looks have never been the point of Subaru, and Subaru owners could not care any less. This isn't a car you show off to the neighbors, it isn't even a car your neighbors acknowledge when you buy it. This is a car that makes your life infinitely easier. It's a car that lets you see every damn thing on the road, and gets you up the hill on a snowy day. Practicality, and all else be damned.
A friend of mine just got one for a early Christmas present, and she loves it. The visibility is fantastic and I found the cabin to be as quiet as I would want. The ride is smooth and the seats are comfortable.
I don't care WHAT anyone says, this is the best SUV I ever owned. I just bought a 2018 Forester end of Jan. 2018. It rides well and looks great to the eye. I haven't really driven much in the snow since I'm retired now. Any questions, feel free to ask me?
We have a 17. It just looks very Japanese. I like it. At first I did not like it as well as the 04 we sold to buy it. I liked the classic lines over modern Japan. But.. I like it now. It is quieter, has a timing chain instead of a belt. All good things. We get 33 MPG on our Premium. The premium is the ultimate value. I sort a wish we got the 6 speed manual. We had a 5 speed in our last one and I enjoyed rowing the box. But the CVT is really nice and the car is smooth with plenty of power. The sightlines are wonderful, easy to see out of. So few new cars provide this.
Just got a great deal on a 2018 right before the 2019 comes out. Didn't buy it for looks, but for performance and safety. Don't care what people think. Great cars! If you care about looks, go buy your x drive bmw and I'll see yo on the side of the road as I pass on by in a foot of snow. BMW's are gorgeous but Subarus just straight out perform in all kinds of weather and are reliable!!
Subaru had beautifully designed, futuristic, sexy cars in the mid to late 1980's such as the XT and SVX. Those cars inpired the look of cars in the movie, Back To The Future II. But in recent years, they only focus on practical, boxy, and very bland-looking cars in the lower price range. Recently, I was on vacation and rented a Forrester. While the car looks boring and style-less, the thing that stood out the most about it is the extremely smooth and responsive engine. My God, Subaru is making a big mistake by not offering sexy cars with their boxer engine. I love the Subaru XT and SVX but I was too young to drive back then. Subaru need to bring such sexy cars back!
Question, I am purchasing one today and wondered if they updated the starlink system to enable android auto? If not, is there anything I can use to have google maps or any type of maps show up on that screen?
Subaru had beautifully designed, futuristic, sexy cars in the mid to late 1980's such as the XT and SVX. Those cars inpired the look of cars in the movie Back To The Future II when Marty travelled to 2015. But now that we are in the real 2010's, Subaru only focuses on practical, boxy, and very bland-looking cars in the lower price range. Recently, I was on vacation and rented a Forrester. While the car looks boring and style-less, the thing that stood out the most about it is the extremely smooth and responsive engine. I realize Subaru is making a big mistake by not offering futuristic sexy cars with their boxer engine! Smooth engine denotes futuristic luxury and Subaru Boxer is naturally smooth. How smooth? I own a Tesla Model X and the Subaru Boxer is almost as smooth as the electric motor in my Tesla! I love the Subaru XT and SVX in the 1980's but I was too young to drive back then. Subaru needs to bring such futuristic sexy cars back and price them around $30k - the price of the Mazda 6, which is now a near-luxury sports sedan. Every carmaker needs a Halo car and Subaru should have the updated XT and SVX as theirs.
how about thousands of subaru owners around the globe with severe oil consumption problem(most of 2011-2015 and even 2015 2016, and get this 2017). Now, after class action law suit still having the same problems. i mean 2017 models burning a quart of oil per 500-1000 miles. We had 6 subarus in our family, but after 2011 the cars became garbage. Sad AF.
you would think, tell that to my friend and his wife who got 2 x 2017 (made in 2016) Foresters and BOTH of them burn a quart per 1000 miles. We had 7 subarus in my family in last 20 years, none of them had that problem. all sold with over 150k miles in driveable condition. last one made in 2008. I have an automotive engineering degree, just if you wondered. And, no car should burn up to quart per 1000 miles, that burnt oil will ruin multiple components. Anyways, if you clueless don't argue.
