I am going to Gladstone Toyota to get my Apple Carplay upgrade on my 2018 Camry SE today.... THANK YOU TOYOTA FOR FINALLY COMING TO YOUR SENSES AND PROVIDING THE PATCH TO 2018 OWNERS!!!!
Josh Morgan just do it yourself, if they won’t do it for free, there’s RU-vid tutorials. All you need is a USB flash drive to download the software for you model if it’s compatible. Go to settings>General>Software Update. If the model ID has 00 at the very end, your car is capable of being upgraded.
If you go to a Toyota dealership ask them for the retrofit. They scan your VIN number and they see if you eligible it costs no more than 70 bucks and boom you get car play in your ca,ry
sara mendoza yes the dealer will do an update on your 2018 Camry it takes about a half hour for them to update it. And it should be free. Although some dealers might charge a fee. Toyota should be sending info in the mail to you from May to July.
If you have the navigation voice through carplay, but you connect your phone's Bluetooth to the car Bluetooth, not the carplay. Does the navigation still tell you turn-by-turn direction through your car speaker? If so, can I still hear the music while using the navigation? Usually, the music will go low while the nav is speaking. I want to make sure since you said that you listening to your music through the Car's Bluetooth, not the CarPlay itself.
Besides, if somebody calls me while I'm in carplay, am I able to pick up whether using the button on the steering wheel, or I have to use the touchscreen only?
@@gasparyandavid so the nav voice isn't fully compatible with CarPlay? While using nav direction, i want to hear both my music and direction, not sure if bluetooth can go both way...
Isn't it bullshit that Toyota doesn't offer this to customers that purchased the 18 models? Clearly it can be done. Very tempting to purchase, thanks for the informative video
I got the 2019 camry but here in dubai apple carplay isnt supported, i still want it though pref through a wire or something basic without ripping up my new car, any ideas people?
CARPLAY is now Available for 2018 CAMRYS through toyota. Or you can do it yourself all you need is a USB Stick and the program to update it. Let the car do the rest
I didn’t had to go through all that bullshit I got the software update from one of the guy from RU-vid for free make sure you guys check it out it’s easy to install took me 20 min to complete all the process
@@farrukhbaig6198 I had to dig through some forums and find it. But it was months ago so I don't remember where it was. Toyota dealerships will do it for free now, though!
I went to toyota of Hollywood located on 441 in broward county they charging me 169 while I go to miracle Toyota located in Hanes city Polk county they do it absolutely free.
@@gasparyandavid I am also selling this kit on my website. I want to share with my installation video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xQGuxlrhLUA.html
Literally just got mine done at South Coast Toyota. It's free just takes 3hrs for them to do it. You'll need to reconnect your phone and a couple settings.
I have car play in my 2018 Toyota Camry. When I connect my iPhone instead of car apple play being enabled I get my home screen from my radio enabled. Is there anyway I can change that so that my car play is enabled when I connect my iPhone to my radio
An Apple carplay update from Toyota is available now, they are encouraging owners to take their cars to a dealership to get it done for around $90, I downloaded the files myself on a flash drive and installed them by myself, very simple and I paid nothing!
This is the worst thing ever, With ONLY 1 connected USB you can’t listen to music on your thumb drive if the smartphone is connected to the USB in order to use the GPS and GPS don’t work unless you own a smartphone . What crap
