its tough to go back to a hardtail once you start riding modern full suspension. the technology in these modern bikes is unreal! kudos on your bike purchase
Omg, I'm in love with this bike! My favorite color in a wonderful frame by a reliable brand. A downhill beast and, according to this and other reviews, the bike incredibly seems to be a very good climber too! Awesome! I think I'll get the Slash for Christmas :-) Thanks so much for the video mate.
I've had mine for just over a week now. Amazing bike (thanks to your review for putting me over the line with this one)! One thing I've found it that it climbs great if you lock out the shocks (just remember to open before bombing down)
Plenty of chunky climbing here as well, but that is where the frisbee gears come in real handy (gotta love that eagle)! There is absolutely nothing wrong with climbing slow, more often than not I really don't have much choice in the matter... locking just makes it that much more efficient allowing me to have a bit more fun on the trails.
Sick bike man! I went back and forth between the Slash or the Remedy and ended up ordering a 2018 Remedy 9.8. Keep us up to date on how it rides! I live in Raleigh BTW and make it to the western part of the state as much as possible. Enjoy!
Sweeet!!!! I'm sure you'll love the Remedy. The biggest decision there seems to be wheel size, but Trek seems to have these slack angle bikes really figured out. I was between Evil Wreckoning and Slash, glad about my choice! I'm going to post my first results soon!!!
You will enjoy the Bike i have the 2017 9.8 and love it to this day. I also rode the 2017 BC bike race on the Slash average climb 1400 meters a day and the thing climbed so well. Better than a lot of people that were on shorter travel bikes. The only thing I changed were the wheels as they flexed and I weigh 74kg. Replaced with Stans Arch best upgrade if you don't want to spend the money on carbon. You certainly can tell the difference. Check the pivot bolts regularly as they do come loose. Enjoy the bike though it is so good....
Awesome! Sounds like you're in the kind of shape I'm striving for!!!! I was really geeking out on the idea of some custom carbon wheels, but I think I'm going to try to taco the Bontragers first!!! LOL On the pivot bolts, good tip, mechanic told me the exact same thing! Gotta get a torque wrench. Thanks for watching!!!
I don't know about your weight, but at 6'3" I can guess its a bit high. For that reason, I would suggest the Stans Flow if you go with Stans. these are a bit heavier than the arch, but also much stronger and stiffer. They also are 29mm internal width which is nice with the wider tires that are common nowadays. I'm about 240lb and love the Flow MK3 on my Trek 9.8 fuel EX
Idk how you can own it for so long and not take it out lol. I just bought my 2018 trek fuel ex 8 Wednesday and I didn't own it for 40 minutes before I hit trails ha. I even went riding earlier that morning on my 2017 raleigh tokul 3 and still pushed myself to get out there with the trek. And yes, like you, I do not have the optimal guild for mountain biking. I'm about 250
Thx!!! It is PRETTY. Yes, I ride 21.5 in Trek, I'm 6'3". The Evil Was feeling about the same in size Large, but I think Trek considers 21.5 their XLarge.
