Not my cup of tea for two wheels, but I sure am glad Mr. Leno creates these videos. They showcase his love of all things automotive. I just purchased a used 2016 Thruxston R (3,100 miles!) from my favorite dealer, BMW Burbank. I test rode the R ninet racer...counld not wait to get off that thing. Then I rode the Thurxston R...did not want to get off it! I am a die hard BMW Motorcycle guy, so this was shocking. The Speedster has 77 HP. Triumph pulled 97 HP out of the Thirxston. Plus Ohlin rear shocks and Showa big piston forks. All I can say is: the first Triumph motorcycle I rode I bought! If you haven't riden this one you must check it out! And, relaxed clip ons...The Gentleman's Race Bike.

I just went back and watched the 1964 Triumph video, and it got me thinking about all the bikes I've had over the years. I never got to ride a British bike back when I started riding in the early 80's, but I always wanted to. I did manage to put hundreds of thousands of miles on bikes though. Thanks for stirring up the memories. BTW, I had a thought about something that might enhance your video postings, you should let guests publish their own lists of vehicles owned. You wouldn't even need to talk about them explicitly, and could simply link to a short bio of the guest and their list. You might be surprised at what people have on their own lists.

Triumph have had to up their game but they have done it with style but not forgetting their core principles and design, Triumph like the Harley have remembered what makes people love their machines so they have not messed with that but have brought the bikes the innovations that increase reliability & safety but not removed those feelings you get when riding a superb comfortable machine.

Jay Leno , just saw this today. Having done the IMS shows and Triumph was one of our favorite customers. Treated all of us above and beyond. Sadly the IMS shows have ended after 4 decades. I can't understand it. I guess insurance companies and lawyers pushed the cost up more than sales could match. I loaded and unloaded the very first Rocket for around 12 shows.Drove the semi loaded set up several booths as well as Triumph. Worked the Cycle World Magazine booth on the side. Always been my plan to purchase a Rocket in the future but they offer so many models it makes it hard to choose. I had a Daytona that was a beautiful and very fast machine. Hope that IMS comes back and the USA gets back to a place where we can enjoy having fun and not being sued for no reason other than greed over commom sense.Love to meet you Jay, some day maybe I will ,until then I have RU-vid.Still waiting for a 1970 GSX Buick episode. As a Brit bike owner of long ago ( Triumph, BSA, Norton) I can tell you that a lot of the problems those old bikes had were the direct result of shadetree mechanics that did so much stuff wrong. They were good bikes if properly maintained.

@martincvitkovich724

Agree 100%. In the 1980's I bought a lot of 'unwanted' BSA and Triumphs. Joined a Brit bike club and learned the ropes. Even Lucas electrics were reliable, a lot of improvising rubber mounted coils, lights etc and you were good to go! And yes in the old day's shadetree mechanics that equated Whitworth with metrics still went to the local hardware store on a Sunday to get a bolt that stripped the hell out of it's mating part. Even today we still see owners or new buyers of old Brit bikes and give no thought to the sludge trap! Sad

Nice thanks Mr.Leno. The 270º firing order gives it a "galloping horse" exhaust note beat (in the lower RPMs) which is richly satisfying, while it revs out with to a nice "rush of blood" crescendo. Nice. At first I thought the 900 range was closer to the spirit of the classic Bonnevilles, perhaps it is but after you ride them both you really appreciate how satisfying is the 1200's extra pull, especially if the jockey is on the beefier side, ahem.

This must be right before the Speed Twin was reintroduced. When I went to the local dealer, they had just one, way in the back behind all the rows of other marked up Bonnevilles. I paid the $200 premium for the Storm Grey paint scheme, and another $200 for the British Customs compitition X-pipe. If I remember right it was just over 14k out the door. Pretty hard to beat for the money.

I love how jay loves all kinds of cars and motorcycles. He rides sport bikes and cruising bikes. Unlike older guys who claim there “ to old to ride a sports bike” Jay on the other hand rides everything. Plus he wears a full face. Most boomers or older dudes don’t wear helmets.

Hey, j I’ve said before I bought 1964 Bonneville triumph love that bike . Well now years have gone by and I’m older . The other day I looked up the new triumph and saw the new ones. Well now I want to buy one more. Love the looks of that triumph speedmaster. Call a dealer close by and they didn’t have any in . Ron I’ll be on standby. Love to watch your video.

Great video! Love when Jay does bikes. You really have to admire Triumph for capitalizing on their legacy. But Jay, come on. The Bonneville T-100 is the proper descendant of your old 650 Bonnie. Go for the dual shocks, man! That faux-rigid rear end just looks goofy. To me. Okay, there's more. First of all, I'm put off by people like Read who start off sentences with, "So..." The other thing that was really annoying was his use of the word, "iconic." Yeah, okay, we get it - it looks like an old motorcycle. Great. So does a Sportster. I got to thinking, "If this guy says 'iconic' one more time I'm gonna put a bullet in my head."

That Bob Guy interesting you should say that. When Bloor announced the foundation of the company he specifically said that they wouldn't be trading on the name (that he happened to own by accident). The press were pretty sceptical, asking "well if you're not trading on the name, why isn't it 'Bloor Motorcycles?'. But he kept to his word, producing bikes for the first ten years that looked like 80's Kawasakis. I guess now that people have forgotten how bad the old bikes were, they've started to trade on nostalgia for a company they really have nothing to do with.

It's...ahhhh...complicated, isn't it? I mean, you're right, even if the current Triumph and their lineup aren't a literal, direct descendant of the original, they do still have the name and bikes that capitalize on history if not their particular legacy. And the (current) bikes are pretty damn good! ...From what I read, anyway. The Street Twin is the first bike in *years* that I'm eager to own in addition to my beloved Sportster.

The bike Harley should have built? Looks great, and I can see some customisers making these look even better. Even the factory sound is spot on. I think Jay has improved sales of this bike by 50% globally, buy 1 get 1 free for you Jay? Love your work

Harley seems to be stuck in the (bigger is better) Rut. I suppose their matketing folks skipped the "less is more,.. seminar". This Triumph bike is very smooth, comfortable, engine is tuned to perfection. It's like a good glass of wine or aged whiskey.
