I have the 2018 VW Beetle Dune Convertible in black an I love it! It's my 4th Beetle and 3rd convertible since the "new" style convertibles came out in 2003. My one and only hard top (with panoramic sun roof) was in 2012 when the newer "new" style lol came out and they didn't have a convertible yet. There are several features you don't have in America that are standard in Canadian Dune models. 1st and foremost is blind spot assist (which I had in my 2015 Beetle) and park assist that gives a 360 view of the car which is great because as you pointed out there is that HUGE blind spot in the back. Also the pedals are chrome which is a nice sporty touch and there is also ambient light under the "window sills". I can raise and lower the roof top from outside the car with the key fob. It also has the Bi-Xenon headlight package. There aren't even any options you can get because it comes fully loaded with everything. The only extra I got was black tailpipe tips because since the car is black they just look cooler! lol Also they come with a 2.0 L engine not the 1.8L. I live in a mountainous area and when going up the mountains on cruise control I fly by all the big honkin' half ton trucks that passed me earlier on flatter terrain; so it has lots power when I need it. It's a beautiful little car that I get tons of compliments on and is a lot of fun! Oh and Harry is adorable!
I didn't even know they still made these until I came across it by accident while reading an article earlier today it's definitely a great car I love seeing modern versions of old cars. Great review.
you were wrong at around 2:25 when you said that, that version had been around for 20 years. A 12up like the dune is a different version. this version of the beetle it came out in 2012. you are referring to the new beetle which started in 98 and ended in 2010. the new beetle and the 12up are completely different models
I know what I said and I'm not wrong. If you were in the US in the 80's, the New Beetle launch was a big deal and this is a carry-forward of that model. But it's dead again and now you get to live through the dark ages for the Beetle.
New Car Spin it’s not the same model. you said it was the same model and it’s not. the body style is completely different and so is the interior. the new beetle and the 12up are two completely different beetle models. and they’ve killed the beetle numerous times. since VW has an e-bus it’s a very good chance that they’ll come out with an e-beetle. they’ve also taken the e-beetle name which hints that they’re will be a another version of the beetle coming out in a few years.
25 mpg hwy mileage on a Beetle doesn't sound impressive... my doggy Corolla is in the same class size & consistently enjoy 39 mpg with spirited driving... just saying...
