Isn't still under warranty? The original constant tension clamps are better than those worm clamps. The original with adjust according to temperature and pressure. Maybe it was in the wrong location on the barb or the hose can be suspect? While you are at it do yourself a favour and remove that silica bag from the reservoir. That sack has been known to split open and clog the heater core and other parts of the system. Just make sure to replace coolant every 4-5 years or use G13 evo coolant.

Good find! If you can smell it, it's leaking, there's no way around it. Great news that it's just the clamp. I never like those funny shape VW clamps, they work nicely when new.. The screwed ones can be tensioned as you like, not the digital on/off like with the VW clamps. There used to be some TPIs from VW (at least in EU) on leaky waterpump and waterpump regulator. It's an expensive repair, the accesssibility is an absolute nightmare. Fortunately it's juts a clamp. Keep squeezing that hose brother ;-)

chances are ill have a water pump problem some day in the next 2 years, but hopefully ill be in a new car by then.

@@LastHumansGarage and what might that next car be? Coolant leaks, a common issue it seems but like ya know if ya can smell it it is leaking somewhere. Glad ya solved and hope all is well

Ive got the same problem but with my upper radiator hose, ive tried re positing the clamp but still leaking, going to try to break the seal of the hose and get some wd40 in there and clamp it again. Trying to avoid removing the hose and all of that

My MK7 had the water pump and thermostat assembly replaced twice in 7 years ( currently on 3rd set).

naw.. but you just fill it.. i broke my lower coolant coupler once.. just replaced it.. and filled the reservoir. turned heater to full blast, and let the coolant slowly drain out of the res and topped it up.

dealer quoted me 4-5k for a similar issue. im hoping its just this and not water pump, thermostat issue as they say. only a coolant shutoff valve popped up on the last scan when i checked it.

My coolant leak is right above that hose you took off on the Y connector going near the right side of the motor

I'm about to take mine in at 50K miles with my second coolant leak. They replaced the water pump/housing at around 30K the first time.

The GTI may be cherry now but do not stop making videos!!! Even if it’s just watering the garden and talking about life! One day make a video talking about every car you have ever owned and spend a few minutes taking about your memory of it both good and bad. That would be awesome.

Every EA888 engines has coolant seepage at the thermostat housing. It doesn’t matter which generation.

Do you not re-Watch your videos before posting them? I almost get seasick watching it. You move your camera around while trying to get what shot you want taken. Find a better way dude, this is awful and not worth watching. Plan out your video first and place camera where it is just going to show what needs to be done not where your giggling around the camera and angle. IMHO
