Thanks for a great video, I’ve just finished installing this same one on my 2024 rav4 hybrid SE. I bought it from Amazon, the 2023 and 2024 are the same and it fits both.
Looking at doing this, but I am just curious. That locator hole grommet that was removed, is that going to allow for water intrusion inside the frame or are there other drain holes somewhere? If the grommet was put there, there's probably a reason why, otherwise it would have been skipped.
Thank you! I’m getting ready to slap mine on! Great demonstration! Will Toyota have a problem working on the car now? Keep the secure bits with the tire lug lock key?
No problem, And No, this wouldn’t prevent Toyota or any other automotive technicians from doing any regular maintenance on the vehicle. And yes, I would just keep those bits in a safe place if you ever need to remove the shield. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
@@DantheFixitMan Does the black plastic cylinder go back in place without the white collar clips? Or we remove both of those pieces? The white clip as well as the black center piece? I just want to make sure. I’m doing this out in the desert in the sand we ain’t got fancy concrete. lol 😂 lol Thanks again.
@@randbasic both the clear and the black plastic pieces come out and are not re-used. The little rivet nut plate that they include in the kit threads onto the stud. Best of luck to you!
@@DantheFixitMangot it. One of the top “nuts” came out of the top shield plate. I sent an email to support asking what I should do. Are your thread rings in the top plate welded to the top plate? One of mine just popped off. Maybe they are just press fit. Mini trigger clamp help to keep all the plates lined up to get the last screws in. Until the pop off happened lol 😂
@@randbasic I believe they are PEM nuts which are pressed in. The MillerCat customer support is excellent, I am sure they will get back to you soon. Please keep us updated on how it goes.
I bought this exact shield and paid good money 300 bucks for it and it's thin as 1/8th? 1/16th inch thickness and these thieves carry steel cutters cut right through the pipes of the muffler, anyone think maybe complete waste of money and time to install it?
I have seen several videos that prove that these really do work. Thieves are seen on video walking up and checking under vehicles and if there is a catalytic converter shield, they move on. I am not saying that it can’t be cut or defeated, but it takes them more time and effort and that seems to be enough to deter them. Best of luck to you whatever you decide. Take care, Dan
I think the name of the game - is being more difficult and taking more time than the other cars on your block. Remember the story of the two guys and the bear… they see the bear and one guy starts putting on his running shoes. The other guy says “what are you doing, you can’t out run a bear”. First guy replies “I don’t have to out run the bear - I just have to out run you!”
