RIP Syd. You were my visual guide into science fiction and fantasy. Watching "Blade Runner" was a transformative experience. You were were a large and essential part of why that was so. Your art, imagination and vision were gifts to all of us. My condolences to his family and friends.

"the scale is logarithmic, so pH 2 is ten times more acidic than pH 3" (of a curve) forming a straight line when plotted on a logarithmic scale; exponential."

@@FPVREVIEWS Exponentiation is an operator that raises a "power to a number", as: 2^3 -> _it's two raised to the third power,_ 2*2*2 = 8, therefore 2^3 = 8. In the other hand, logarithm is an operator that *asks for the exponent* 'y' in which when the base 'b' is raised to the power 'y' produces the number 'x'. So, the logarithm of *x* in base *b* is equal to *y* --> logb(x)=y. To understand this, log2(8) = 3 --> logarithm base two of eight is three, i.e. the exponential needed to be raised to number 2 that produces the value 8 is the exponent 3, because 2^3 = 8 So... to find out log2(8) = ? ---> you need to ask 2^? = 8 "to which power number two needs to be raised in order to produce the value equals eight? The answer is three, thar is the answer for log2(8) [sorry my english I'm brazilian]
