dont care if people talkin shit to brian. remember he is a 3 time asc champ and 4 time world strongest man and just a gentleman, genuine loving caring father and gentle giant. #SHAWSTRENGTH
Brian Shaw one of the greatest to do it ever! I see you are nursing an injury. But even debilitated you still make an impact. Try not to push too hard for your own longevity. Respect
Tokyo Swan but eddie set the record on a normal deadlift bar, this is elephant bar COMPLETELY different lifts. They dont compare whatsoever. 501kg on elephant bar isnt better than 500kg on deadlift bar it is simply 2 seperate events that are not comparable
Cos still the deadlift goes heavier and heavier each year, next year I think Thor will get the 500 kg and I’m sure a couple of guys like licis are going to pull a 1000+ pounds
Theyre not gonna do that. Exhausting themselves with other lifts before the dead would significantly effect the athletes performance and lead to less weight pulled and probably more injuries considering how many muscles play a roll in the DL. People wanna see those huge pulls and going first is the only way to do it. I doubt any of them would wanna pull last given the option anyway.
It's more the Elephant Bar bullshit than anything else that's hurting people. It's cool and fun to watch but people ALWAYS get hurt when one is in a comp. They're hot garbage.
I have been a Brian fan since WSM 2009 and will always be a Brian fan. You have done more for the sport than anyone else. You don’t have to prove anything to us. Win or lose. You are still my champion!
I think Shaw is already looking forward to next year. He's injured now, so he'll just try to recover after the competition and prepare for other competitions.
I'm sure he will explain everything soon, athletes never say what's wrong before a competition. Possibly, his wife competing and bringing the young kids along changed his mentality.
@@domrick783 That's possible. Too bad many athletes seem to have injuries. I think they should not have gone too far with the deadlifts (for Shaw and Thor, though, it's understandable that they'd go for records). If the rest had strategized to lose points in the Deadlift event and catch up in other lifts, things could have been better.
The announcers even sound unimpressed.. I was expecting a bigger cheer when he log lifted and got that 2nd lift up, but the crowd was silent. We know who the real winner is, but Brian is showing heart, cant look that over.
A lot of people dont know, but lyndsay actually got 230 feet on this. She crushed it, but they didnt count it because she tested positive for Orange juice
The wheel of pain is a strong metaphor and aspect to my life I appreciate and apply every day. What does not kill you makes you stronger. Thank you for sharing this!
Loving this channel guys. This is the second year I’ve seen through this stream. I wish there was a better product connection with end user in this market!
It was good to see the people who turned out as the camera panned the group. Nice to see the local trailer parks have a form of entertainment..............................................
Rogue has got the commentary down and the Europes strongest man in Leeds has got the jam packed Arena show atmosphere down...now marry the two and we´ve got a real damn show, the kind that every strongman comp should be.
Put the athletes on opposite sides pushing in opposing directions, after one minute who ever moved forward wins. Set up a bracket leading to an ultimate champion of the event. The sheer power would be insane.
Basically a tug of war, people want to see the wheel turn. they could put a whip master on top whipping them, and the last guy still pushing wins being bought by the red knight. {:-)
How about ALL of them push the same way , until they can't. When one falls, wheel feels heavier. Last one standing. I think the whole thing would take 10 minutes.
its only a matter of time before mateusz wins, you can see the rage in his eyes when he doesn't perform. Looking forward to seeing him compete year after year.
The commentators talked a lot about the physics and the leverages of this event. But I don't think they really knew what they were talking about. I'm interested what experts would say about the leverages / physics and fairness of this event. My thoughts are: 1. You should always choose the lowest log to push, because you get the best leverages. 2. Taller athletes will have an advantage because they will have better leverages.
I also think it is not good that there is an animal face at the end of the log which they can't touch. I didn't like seeing the athletes getting beaten by the judge. I think it would have made more sense of they left the animal heads away...
14:50 -- Street Cred for sure. This contest is why I thought Zydrunas Savickas was the real world's strongest man back in 2004-2008 even when he couldn't win that contest named for it. He won 6 straight Arnold strongman classics. The contest was about brute strength and always will be. No Tricks, no speed crap, just pure power. That's why Zydrunas in his era was unbeatable here. I will never forget the 2004 contest where Big Z made absolute fools out of all the World's strongest man winners and dominated every event. The last 900lbs frame carry put the exclamation point on the whole affair. He was the ONLY competitor to finish the ramp.
The greatest ever at the Arnold Strongman Classic contest will always be Big Z. Zydrunas Savickas has 8 or 9 wins in the first 16 contests and this included winning the 2-7th contests for 6 straight.
They should of all pushed together and try and set a team record, in the movie multiple people pushed it till there was only Arnie left, of they should all push till theres only one man standing!
Then again there could be a possibility that some strongman will cheat and not “push” the wheel. There’s no way of measuring how much and how equal they are pushing.
@@laurencardenio9474 actually there are lots of ways they can measure how they are pushing, especially considering the amount of money that have been thrown for that epic machine. I agree with kimbo drift that would be an epic last man standing.
@@foxhound9285 Got to say, beaten up though my CD may be, it's still to this day one of my favourite soundtracks. It would certainly get them riled up for the event.
I'm a weakling, but I know a few things about mechanics so here are a few thoughts about strategy: Anybody would do better positioned close to the "dragon head" and staying low. Just better leverage. Keeping the arms low might also give the lungs more capacity to breathe. I suggest doing it backwards. With the back against the pole it would take the calf muscles (Achilles tendon) out of the equation, which I imagine is a weaker muscle that will tire more easily than the thighs. (If allowed, wear shoes with a very slight but sharply-angled heel to grip the traction boards.) Also I notice some poles are lower than others. Choose the lowest one.
Nicolas, Martins: 8.36 rad Halfthor: 8.29 rad Oleksii: 7.85 rad Matjaz: 7.35 rad Mikhail: 7.16 rad Rauno: 7.16 rad Mateusz: 7.04 rad Brian: 6.60 rad Jerry: 5.34 rad
Although I grew up playing sports, I can't stand to watch most of them. This is some interesting stuff. I hope these guys don't suffer in their later years from this lifting.
I think they should be putting their palms as close to each other as possible and they should be pushing as much to the end of the log as possible, such that they generate as much moment as possible.
