Really not a bad exhaust note for the little 4 cylinder. Just wish it was a little louder. All axleback systems are still around 1000 bucks, seems a bit steep for no performance gain. Anyone have thoughts on just doing some sort of muffler swap? Should be fairly cheaper...
Its sounds very very good for a stock exhaust, but is true that without the muffler could sound incredible an loud, and the little bangs could hear very well I thing. Actually de M performance exhaust its only disponible to the 340i and 440i, but for 1600€ bmw have the M performance Muffler thats sound amazing. Always with money the best option is the full akrapovic exhaust system but...a lot of money Men!
I have a 230i coupe with the same engine and the same state of tune. When I got the car I loved the power but there is no real sound. I had both resonators removed and that’s fixed the issue for me. I wouldn’t mind if it were a bit louder still but the car is my daily and I didn’t want it to become obnoxious.
Just an FYI, if you downshift from around 4K RPM in Sport+ you will get some pretty nice little pops from the stock exhaust. Just make sure you do it when the car has fully warmed up and obviously don't do it too much, but it is cool once in a while. (See steps below) Step.1 - Warm up car Step.2 - Sport+ (Manual Mode) Step.3 - Hard acceleration (2nd - 3rd) *works best* Note: (if your exhaust makes the "Brrrrrt" sound you did shifted hard enough) Step.4 - Accelerate through 3rd gear up to 5K RPM Step.5 - Downshift at 3.5K - 4K RPM (3.5K RPM seems safer) Step.6 - Listen for the completely stock pops
And another question bro, did yo do that in a 428i or in a 430i, i know that is the same engine and only was a restailing that bmw did but im not sure if also they changed something into the exhaust or motor gases to be more ""ecologic"" and maybe the lasts versions of the 430i ( like mine ) dont do the pops, let me no your opinion!
@@mca9036 I own 2017 430i M-Sport Coupe which has the B48 engine (same as yours) the 428i runs the N20 engine variant, but I don't know the details on their differences. Also yes mine is completely stock, no M Performance Muffler and no tune. The pops are not gun shot loud, but if you roll down the windows and open the sunroof, you should be able to hear them. Usually they give off around 2-4 pops but depending how windy it is, it might be hard to hear them. If I had a gopro and a mount I'd record it but unfortunately I don't. Once you have a chance to try it, let me know if it works for you too. I should also mention, I'm running on 91 octane gas and drive around sea level (not sure if elevation makes any difference tho)
The best times of BMW, the previous car i had to this was a 330ci that i owned brand new back in the days, i did it almost 400k km and the straight 6 cylinders was MUSIC!
I have that car black with red leather interior im gonna be honest its pretty damn fast for a 4 cylinder and people always give me allot of good compliments about that car.
