why the need for such comment lol? this car was never marketed as a super car. its more of a concept car with incredible fuel efficiency. despite so, it still beat many other sports car or some super cars in a drag race.
FUN AND DRIVE I am only empathising your lack of car knowledge. This car has an ethos, was designed by vision that a future sports car could be economical and sporty. Putting a V8 would completely jeopardise the purpose of the car for what it was built for. But I don’t expect you to understand that with your cookie cutter ways.
@@clutched77 I know it was made to be economical but faking the hole experience by putting in speakers is just so wrong. I would rather choose a car around the same price with a bigger engine. But that's because I'm a petrolhead. In my eyes it's a car for people who just don't care.
Well I think that it looks really nice but they should leave this electric bs and put an old school v8-v10 in it and call it a day. Then BMW can also stop putting sound out of the speakers and begin to actually produce real sound from the exhaust
I think maybe I have seen 3, or only 2 i8s in the past 3 years - and I am living in car spotter heaven. I also get around places where people play with their cars - nobody plays with an i8 though. It is amazing how people were crazy to spend up to 70,000 bucks more to get an i8 when new to skip the waiting list, but that faded in no time. BMW wanted to kinda position it in 911 territory, but nobody takes this car serious as a sports car. Since the i8 release, I have NEVER seen a comparison between any other sports car and an i8. Thinking of alternatives or competition, you will hear suggestions like GTR, F Type AMG, AM etc etc - but nobody ever says 'how about an i8 instead?' BMW never had luck with their prestige projects... the M1 didn't work, 8 series didn't sell while the SL released at the same time had a 7 (!) year waiting list when new, Z8 I have seen one in my life, Z 1 and now the i8.... all the while these are not cheap projects.
Baerchenization sport on....so i8 with a 40% discount is an amazing investment especially as only 2400 roadster only made......will be a £200,000 car in 25 yrs / as M1 is £500,000 after 40 yrs
WHY WOULD THIS PEOPLE STILL KEEP THAT POS ENGINE, come on a 1.5 still ??? upgrade that 💩💩💩 to a 2.0 and get that car going some place, this is what people hated from the first one ALL SHOW NOOOO GOOO, it overpriced junk REALY...................................
Boring car in my opinion. Make it fully electric like tesla with like 800hp or combine it with a bigger engine. A even a volvo t8 would smoke this piece of shit.
I saw a bmw i8 in white today i was so surprised because its rare in bradenton florida to find sport cars. I only be seeing comaros and dodge and other cars.
I have both an E26 M1 and an I8 Roadster - the roadster is a properly built light and on back roads properly fast car with its torque vectoring giving RS3/A45 levels of stability. By comparison the E26 is a beautiful but totally flawed fibreglass hotch potch of a car (by comparison to a 930 Porsche or even 308 fibreglass version) that feels a bit kit car as the Italians made a hash of the interior and ancillaries of the E26 M1.
Never buy this, I had one for my work and every day a new issue... door issues, cooling system issue, .. + some very "cheap" parts inside too. A nice "concept" car but not for every day use.
bad design practice at door opening. there is absolutely no functional reasoning behind that design. it doesn't solve the problem where you have small space to open your door. even if they did it conventional way you could get out of the car at small spaces. with that design though, even if you could, you wont be able to.
Does this cost more than a model x ? Does it depreciate faster than a Tesla ? Do the doors change lift angle when opening next to closely parked cars ? Does it dance ? Is it at least faster?
Well you drive electric all the time, which means your engine doesnt warm up. And then you go in sport and rev it up. Cold. A 3 cylinder. Im not an expert, but i think the engine may does not live that long. Especially with that much power from just 1.5 litres.
Isn't it a good practice to keep turbo engines running for a minute or 2 to cool before turning it off as well? You blast it full power and go back to EV mode right after. Will that affect the engine reliability?
You can put it in eco pro mode with hold state of charge mode, the battery will not drain and charge until full, engine will come on immediately and transmision will shift early to safe gas, and you'll warm up the engine.
I dont realy care ☝️☮😘🍀🌻
I still don’t understand why they didn’t put a frunk in it, especially for the roadster. P.S I know there is a fan under there but I’ve seen videos where there is empty space under the bonnet
