The reason the seat belt gives you a reassuring hug is because in case of an accident, it's adjusting for the occupants size for the best protection. By the way, nice video.
I've got this but with the leather and the harmon kardon stereo/sub system which is amazing. I'll only say after test driving everything in this class this is top of class. You can get good deals at the penski dealers as well. At least I did. Basically got a 54K loaded X3 xdrive for 47K. So don't let the MSRP scare you. They got allot of margins built into these things.
2018 vs 2019 - 2019 added Park Distance Control, and Active Driving Assistant as Standard. It also added the option of the “sdrive” trim ($2000 less than xdrive) While the 2018 just had a Rear-View Camera (still in 2019).
What’s the point of vinyl coverings? Why can they at least not give us cloth if they are too cheap for real leather? It’s cold in winter and hot in summer with those cheap vinyl seats no matter what senso name they give it.
Paul M I have cloth in the middle of the seats and they have been great. Cloth or alcantara in the middle of the seats and ‘fake leather’ on the sides are the options I would go for any day. Perfect in cold weather, perfectly fine in hot (not ventilation required unlike full leather / fake leather seats). Car manufacturers know all this but they keep alcantara for the most sporty versions (even though in fact it is a cheap material) and pushing the full fake leather everywhere so that people have to pay for ventilated seats in order to get comfort in hot weather on long journeys. 100% money grabbing, nothing else.
I was considering getting the bmw m850i to build credit once I work a few years out of college, but looking at how much car payments would be made me reconsider bmw X line, and the x3 sure does look nice and doesn't break the bank to the point where I can't do things with the money I make, especially since I would rather have a house that is over 100k than my first car being over 100k. Which is why the x3 is a good price in which I would be able to get a house eventually once I have that credit built up.
I have this car, picked it up on December 1, 2018, have around 1K miles plus on it now and love it. I've had the 2 prior versions, a 2004 X3 3.0 and a 2013 X3 xDrive35i 3.0 and because of that, after test driving them, decided not to get the M40i 3.0 liter 6-cylinder because its ride was too rough and the engine power delivery was jerky and loud, though strong. I've always loved BMW straight 6's from the ones my dad owned but now that I'm older don't really need the power anymore. It was nice that the xDrive30i was maybe $5K cheaper and gets better gas mileage but those are side benefits to me. Am leasing and can try more power again next time if it bugs me, but will probably opt for a BMW hybrid or electric car if they make a bigger i3. The 30i is a nice balance of performance, quiet, handling, ride, and the exterior and interior design is elegant, refined yet functional. The technology is something I'm still learning and getting used to. All the lane departure, braking warnings, blindspot notifications, Apple Carplay, active steering, active dampers, voice controls (which are great) for everything including navigation ("guidance to Starbucks"!), heated steering and seats, all the cameras with surround views (wonderful) and sensors all over the place, are dizzying but appreciated. The night exterior and interior lighting is gorgeous. I'll get used to it.
I found that the Adaptive M suspension, a $700 option, softens the M40i ride nicely. The wife wanted horsepower and I wanted comfort, so we're both happy.
For my region Middle East, I'm not sure if I should pick up this car, the jaguar F pace portfolio or Porsche maccan. All of em within the same price range. The only thing I'm worried about is that we have alot of speed bumps and broken roads and not sure how this car handles it.
Owned (2) X3 (1st gen) skipped the 2nd as we got '11 X5, but now we downsized to X3 again (kids out of child seats etc) and absolutely love the 2018 X3 over the previous and the F30 series that I hate! Still keeping the X5 as a weekend 'beater' and an old 330i as a daily shuttle.
Why lust after diesel? Where I live the cost of diesel fuel is so much higher than regular gas that any fuel efficiency gains are rendered null and void.
I wanted a diesel too but the 2.0 bi turbo 4 has allot of power and I get 23 city 30 hwy just like the sticker says. It gets great gas mileage and still has a ton of power. So IMO, no need for the diesel. Just not worth the extra cost and dealing with all the Nox sensors that might fail and the stupid DEF fluid. EPA ruined the diesel party in the states. Just not worth it.
I've got one and its a perfect SSUV. The engine/trans tune is absolute perfection with the bi turbo 2.0 with 8 speed ZF transmission. As for reliability I guess I'll see. But BMW has been making this motor for like 10 years. There were issues with timing chain for awhile. And one other issue that I can't remember but it was also resolved. From what I've heard, its reliable these days. I get the advertised MPG's as well. 23 city and nearly 30 freeway. Its a real cruiser. The updated model from 2018 really nailed it. Mine has the real leather/luxury package and its just amazing. Got mine at a penski dealer and got it for 47K. List was 54K. You can get good deals at the penski dealers. I highly recommend this SSUV. I've had it a year and not a single issue. This destroys the Acura RDX which everyone raves about. Not even close. Also don't listen to this guy in video. The 4 cylinder is fast. Its got allot of power. The 6 is just overkill and it will cost you at the pump. I'll say again, this is how you make a good boosted engine and still get good MPG's. Are you listening Ford? This really puts meaning in the term that many use "ecobust motors". This is how its done.
I've got a X3 and they are really quiet inside. Just test drive one to see. Its the quietest car I've ever owned. By far. Maybe the mics were just too sensitive or something.
All Bimmers now look like fancier "Hoondays" ...but some say Stelvio looks a lot like a Mazda - personally I would love me some ALFA (Giulia), but reliability is a HUGE ?
Very obnoxious to have the droning noise of the car driving for the entire dialogue. I don't know if the car is really that loud or you put them microphone in front of the A/C vent or something but just awful.
Not that I'm one of them, but some people don't want a cloth or leather interior. For the leather, they only think of it as animal skin. Stupid right. So BMW is wise enough to offer both.
The back of the new X3 is garbage!! I don’t know who came up with the design for this car but they are really cheapening the brand!! No real leather seats!!???And that ugly metal panel on the back!!!??? That will rust and look dirty!!!! And the seatbelt feature..... come BMW!! Do better!!! Fire your design team cause they are all drunk and delirious!!!!!!!! #Savethebrand
