You have great taste Ugottoloveme23, if I were you I'd wait until the all-new X6 comes out later this year...but since you already have such an awesome car, something tells me the 3 series will work out just fine for years to come.
X6's really are amazing and I'm certain the new X6 coming out later this year will be awesome...but that could mean great deals are available for prior year X6's which would also be pretty great.
I just love your personality! Excellent comparison review! I, too, 🥰 the look of the X6. But, I love the technology & look of the X5. Marry the two and it's a DREAM SUV. Thank you for taking the time to make a great video! Aloha!
Thank you so much Zachary, I appreciate it. I'm such a fan of the X6 and I'm crazy about the new X5 - that I'm pretty certain the new X6 is the one SUV (SAV?) that I'm most excited about. Thanks again for taking a look and have a fantastic weekend!
Question: so I’m looking into buying my first BMW. I’ve been driving Lexus & Acura. I can’t decide between a 2019 X6 with M package or a fully loaded 2019 X5. X6 was over $80k but with discounts, it went down to $71k. Fully loaded X5 was $74k and went down to $71k. So they’re both the same price. X5 has way more features - more bang for your buck. X6 is really nice sporty looking. Can’t decide.
If it's 2019 vs 2019, the X5 wins by a stretch...however, when the 2020 X6 comes out, I'm going to guess the X6 is going to be the "must have" SUV of the year.
Steer clear of air-ride suspensions. Maintenance nightmares! After 1 Mercedes and 2 Lincolns with them, I made sure my 2014 X6 did NOT have an air-ride suspension.
I'm with you on air-ride suspensions SD and if you've seen my reviews of my GL450 you know why...of course, I do love that GL450...but not as much as I love 2014 X6's...just about my favorite SUV (SAV) ever.
I haven’t decided whether leasing or purchasing the X5 is the better option... I’ve been driving the 2018 X3 & X1, but the 5 offers true off road capabilities 🙌
The X1 and X3 are both really nice daily drivers Eric, but the X5 is a different kind of experience altogether. Leasing is so attractive on BMW's but this is one you might decide to keep for 10 years or more.
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney Many Mahalos for the insight! You mentioned exactly what I’ve been contemplating... duration of ownership. I haven’t discussed the finance options at my local dealer in Southern California, but I need to figure out the percentage down to keep the monthly sub 700.
I'm going to go with an emphatic yes on that one Eric...and it's not because of my own appreciation for what they've done but for the fact that Toyota has resurrected the Supra and it is using the exact same running gear as the X5. If Toyota thinks it's built to last, I'm going to guess it's built to last.
It will be nice to see the review on the New model X6 when they are released. It's going to be the winner in my opinion when it's finally here in late 2019..
The x6 is pretty much my perfect car. I really like awd which I have a subaru legacy. I use my car like a truck, I took out my rear seat so I can haul stuff with it and I tow with it. My problem with my car is it is not a wagon or a hatchback so space is limited, the drivetrain is a little dated on my 6 cylinder engine and ancient transmission, as well as towing capacity is only 1500lb without trailer brakes(2700 with brakes). The x6 trunk is huge! Tows double what my car does and still drives like a car and not a truck (I hate trucks because they cant handle worth a crap). So I think I'm going to give this a real good look when I go to get my wife a suv. She loves my legacy and wants an outback but I'm scared about getting it due to subaru growing more than they can handle and their reliability has tanked. So... as for reliability only and no other factors, is the x6 more reliable than an outback? Btw I typically do all mechanical maintenance on our cars. I dont mess with electronics... I essentially want to get a car and drive it till it is dead. We have kept both of our cars for 225k miles before we sold them. Wanted something updated after awhile
The X6 is not more reliable than the outback. However, with excellent maintenance there is no reason it won't go 300,000+ miles. We are in Australia and got picked up in an X6 by an Uber driver with 400,000 km on it's original engine and 2nd transmission. It didn't squeak or rattle at all.
Nice job Joe but wait until we see the new improved 2020 BMW X6. Would you consider doing a head to head eval of the X5M and X6M in the future as well?
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney Thanks! so do you! Really enjoyed this review! ❤️ I feel like this beauty doesn’t get enough credit! It’s in a class all by itself!
I have the 2018 X6 Black with red interior. I love the car but Joe you are a little biased when it comes to the X6. There is not a lot of room in the back for 6' and over. You looked a little snug back there and try doing a trip from NYC to D.C. and I venture you would be having some cramping issues along the way. That is my only beef about the car, oh and I wish that the dual exhaust could be seen visually. Yup, it's a male thing. The right exhaust has a dampener that opens up ONLY when needed and not when Idling.
Jon we have the same care. I also agree with your assessment of the back seat. But I'm with Joe. I dont care about it. I'm NEVER going to be back there😂
Jon Dishmon Music and STUFF!! I own an x6 and I always wonder where was the logic with the guys who’s job it is to design things.. 1.why they didn’t allow the back seat to recline 2.why they didn’t alight the curve a little bit and cut out some of the roof cushion to allow more head room... 3.and why they made the seats so thick 4.dashboard is so long all those things give less interior room
Both have multi link rear suspensions with double wishbone front suspensions Kai, but the X5 has a more absorbent suspension which makes it more comfortable on road and more versatile off road...the X6 has firmer suspension settings making it sportier on road but bumpier off road.
@@Tray-sq2zr Lexus is a great call...it would be interesting if they built an SUV off of the new Supra platform...which is the same car underneath as the new BMW Z4, which would mean the new Lexus SUV would have the same running gear as the X5.
The Supra not only has the inline 6 and the transmission of BMW it also adopts 90% of BMW interior hardware, such as climate control and i-drive. I really don't understand why BMW gave away so much BMW DNA to Toyota.
Just like the Scion/Toyota FRS/86 and Subaru BRZ...I just wished Toyota called this car the Celica GTS or just GTS and saved the Supra name for an in-house built V8 with 6 speed manual.
You do realize the only difference is one has been refreshed already X5 while the X6 will be a exact copy late spring/ early summer. (Again one is just a coupe´ version of the other)
BMW has always sought to give the X6 a personality of its own...I have a feeling there will be distinctive X6 nuances that will further accentuate the X6 from the X5...but we'll see.

Abbiamo la stessa opinione di Isabella ... ma sono entusiasta di vedere la nuovissima X6 più avanti quest'anno - ho la sensazione che sarà particolarmente
X5, by a lot. Everyone here likes to go to the many unmarked beaches we have and they all require driving over gnarly old lava known locally as a'a. Anyone buying an all wheel drive is doing so to go to the beaches and as a result you will see a lot more '19 X5's than X6's....but I still love the X6.
I think a lot of people are really looking forward to the new...and hopefully significantly updated X6. Thanks for taking a look Pat and have a wonderful 2019!
Most of the BMW vehicle that will reach 80K miles will have an issue of valve stem seals that will cost the owner to pay $8000 or more from a local shop. Good luck buyers!
That's a known problem on V8 models from 2003-2008. 6 cylinder models tend to be pretty reliable past 200,000 miles, which is why extended warranties are a lot less expensive for 6 cylinder BMW's...which I cannot recommend enough. I spent $2500 on a 2 year warranty for my 2003 7 series (obviously a V8) a million years ago and in the 1 year I had that car it had $12000+ of warranty work.

The x6,has been tamed ever since the first generation ended......now it look like a grocery store runner ... Can’t wait until they leave this body redesign behind ... All these bad decisions 1.fake air scoop 2.rear lights 3.grill and long nose 4.ugly rims 5.no popped out wheel well 6.dashboard is still too high 7.rear seat is still cramped without reclining seats and they could cut down on all the cushioning on the roof to give more head room or give a slight lift ....no one feels comfortable or safe in that backseat
It's funny you say that Kiam...I commented that I would have hated to be the guy who restyled the Ferrari 355 since it was virtually perfect in a way no other car (outside of Ferrari) had ever attempted...now comes a complete restyle of the signature SAV of this generation...it's a job that's easy to screw up. Ferrari somehow improved the brand with the 360, maybe BMW will be so lucky.

@@sypeng1222 Since BMW is making the new Supra, I'm curious if there will be a Toyota or Lexus version of a smaller X series SUV based off of the Supra/Z4 platform...both of which already have the X5 engine/transmission combo...maybe a Lexus NX5?
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney 6615 lbs would equal 3000 kg. I assume tow rating is quite specific in pounds because the Germans uses metric system. When will the US and British adapt to the more modern metric system like the rest of the world?
Not just one, but two X5's...impressive! In a comparison between the 2019 X5 and 2019 X6 I am a much bigger fan of the X5, but I think the all-new X6 is going to be really nice
