It's a stick on stick roll, basically, you just hit your right hand stick on or close to the fulcrum of your left hand grip. It takes some adjusting of left hand fingers and making sure you hit the sticks together in the right place.

Vic Firth MT4A mallets, they’re discontinued now but they still have the MT1A which is a smaller version

It looks good, but it just doesn't sound good. It's impressive to watch but the more I watch it the more I think to myself about how lame this is in musical quality. Maybe I'm alone when I say I prefer musical quality over visual, but what the point of looking good if you don't sound good in a band??? If you value what you look like over what you sound like, you might as well be a twirler.
