2019 Dodge Challenger T/A: Was I Given A Fake?

I’ve seen a few of these Challengers riding around boasting the “T/A” insignia subtlety on the front fender and I never really knew what differentiated them from the regular R/T, Scat Pack, SRT-8 and Hellcat trim levels. Well now I know and I truly believe it’s worth the upgrade, not only for the visual upgrades, but for the performance ones as well.

I've never seen a T/A with a closed off airbox, usually that hood scoop feeds a open element filter. And the tail lights are customized, they are usually standard Challenger.

@@TheHungryRoad maybe they purchased it second hand, its possible they brought it in for service and dodge recommended a closed filter box if the car was going to be a rental? I'm not sure I know its a T/A but Im just confused on these things lol

@@YGSpider. You’re right. I’m just confused now. I feel like I put out a bullsh*t video if this thing really is customized, but I can’t wrap my head around a rental car company buying a customized car. It just doesn’t make sense.

@@TheHungryRoad Might have been wholesale and they wanted cars to rent out quickly and picked up like 10 or 20 cars. It's strange for a rental car company to have a T/A at all as the package is about 4000$ It's just strange to me that the air filter was swapped out for a closed in airbox as the T/A comes with the Hellcat style duct and that hood scoop seals against the box to create a ram air effect.

My Challenger T/A Plus is F8 with a 6 speed and only 3 of them this color with a 6 speed were made it just turned 20,000 miles and has never been in the snow. I love this car and get people stopping me all the time wanting to look at it.

I have a 2018 T/A 392 and I have the direct air flow from the hood scoop to the air intake box in addition to the driver side headlight intake vent. The stock 275 wheels are not wide enough for the rear tires. At 30 mph I could smoke the rear tires for roughly 50 feet easy. I put 315's on the rear and now the rear tires wont brake loose at 15 mph. That equal better 0-60 times. Let me tell ya it's no fun having all that HP and not able to put it to the ground. Hail to the T/A. RESPECT THE POWER.

That's a regular R/T that someone put T/A decals and did the satin black panels. Seats aren't alcantara, seats don't say T/A, wheels are not TA and it's missing the TA Mopar airbox.

I have a 2021 Widebody Challenger 392 Scat Pack T/A in Gold Rush, but what I noticed or didn't notice was the white faced gauges. The T/A edition should come with whit face gauges like the original models. I have the Alcantara/Nappa leather interior with the T/A stitched in the seats, but I believe they come standard with the houndstooth cloth.

T/A’s have 3 models: T/A, T/A Plus and T/A 392. I think you had the lowest model, just a T/A. Also the seats would be Napa leather in a T/A plus, along with a 1000 watt 19 speaker sound system, and an 8” screen to name a few.

Holy crap man, owner of a redline red 2018 T/A 8spd , just looked it up and it's one of THREE produced that year ...the T/A really is a rare bird

Good review on a sweet American Muscle Car! I've owned a 2020 RT Plus Shaker 6 speed for a few years now. Brembo Brakes, Bilstein Performance Suspension, etc, and no regrets... Smiles per mile, plus you can mod them to be insane down the line. Winter is no problem for me either man, undercoat and good tires...

@@TheHungryRoad My grandfather drove a Grand Torino year round, for many years... That's where I learned, undercoat and good tires, and just drive easy in bad conditions.... He never had an accident with that nasty car ..lol

@@TheHungryRoad Drove my 2023 T A home from Florida to Seattle ,,One thing I learned about dodge is nothing is consistent ,my seats have TA stitched in them ,yeah white dash screen when lights are off ,no auto start ,,that sucks , I paid extra for larger wheels and tires and supposedly high performance suspension that came with Brembo brakes but no slotted disc,,,the brembos are sweet , many dislikes with the car but they all disappear as soon as I start it up ,,like you said you can feel the V8 rumble inside the car ,,its so cool ,I dont bother with the radio when its nice out ,I down all the windows and sunroof and listen to that sweet exhaust growl

Hate to break this to you but your TA might be a fake. They did make 339 yes. But all TAs came with the TA embroidered seats. They also did not have the tail lights you have.

Have a 2019 T/A 392 Scat Pack w/ 8-speed auto in B5 Blue...waited awhile for it to come along and had to snap it up. Lowered it with Eibach's, as I didn't like the factory gap. Replaced the off brand tires with B.F. Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S 275/40R/20's and made a big difference in handling. Strictly nice weather only and have done some car shows...not many around.

What ever dealership you got it from they swamp the rims and intake you got the regular RT rims , the TA cold air intake is from Mopar

I have a 2018 T/A I bought new it is F8 green with a six speed and it has an open air filter the filter is blue. When I push the sport button I can feel the car go faster.

I opt out for the TA being 10k more than what i got for the R/T blackout edition 2022. Didn't seems to be more special for my taste lol.

@TheHungryRoad well the 2022 R/T blackout edition had most of the features you showed in your video. The only thing that I didn't get is the upgraded breaks. Mine being manual I really didn't feel like I'm losing a lot. My car stops pretty well. But yeah I almost got the T/A till I found that there's a dealer out of town that has a cheaper version of it lol. Plus my soon to be EX wife has thar T/A initial that will makes me look like obsessed of her 😆

I have a 17 T/A and something isn't right with that car. Why doesn't the air from the hood feed right into the Hellcat like air box? Yours is covered by some 3rd party CAI. Also I believe the UConnect 8.4 radio is an upgrade. Doesn't matter if it's a 345 or 392. Kinda looks like a converted R/T or maybe had front end damage? You can easily get the build sheet to confirm. Either way, nice car.

Yeah, it was a rental from National at the Pittsburgh International Airport and I believed they’d have the integrity to have “real” versions of cars there, but I think this is a fake.

ive driven RWD and FWD cars, in the US and other countries(military), and as long as you have tires for snow its not much difference. the tires is what makes it. winter tires have more , i forget, in the winter so they stay softer at low temps so they grip better. dont worry about a RWD in snow.

That's not the weather you want to five that car in. I test drove a challenger scat last week, a 2018, low mileage. Not a car for the unwise or fools. I prefer it without the stripes/black hood/roof. Just not my thing. It needed wider rubber. The 245s are a joke. I had no issues burning rubber at will or sometime not. Car needs 305s, 275s min. The only annoying thing was the sat/nav telling me the speed limit every time I went quicker than the speed limit.

I've never had the chance to experience the 392 engine, but I really want to. They're super popular where I'm from and "cheap" to get. Lol. Dodge has the winning formula for getting the cars out there. You're right about the weather though and I'm pretty sure that's why the car was still available. People are scared of it in that weather, but wider tires would definitely help.
