Great review! I’ve been looking into this filter and was just wondering how the vent cover has been holding up? Any issues so far with rust, rattling, and/or the paint fading fast on the top side? I love the look of my vents, so if I’m gonna have to cover one I wanna at least make sure it’s a quality trade-off.
Thank you, Roy! It has been several months and the cover appears to be doing all the things I want it to. Still dark black under the (currently) 104 degree sun, no rust from winter snow a few months back, etc. I was not excited about the cover, but the more aggressive hood was on my list of wants and it appears to be a good compromise.
@@titansgarage Thanks for getting back to me and that’s awesome to hear! Will most likely be going forward with this build. Yeah it sucks having to lose a vent but I’m happy to hear that at least the replacement part is of quality. Take care and thanks again!
Can you tell any difference in sound? And how’s the vent cover going? Really debating on if I should get K&N or AFE, but from what I’ve seen AFE doesn’t really make a sound difference but it does have an enclosed box
Couple thoughts on your question. If you’re looking from a performance standpoint of getting the coolest air into the intake without heat leaching in from the engine bay, I think the closed box style are superior. However, with the K&N, I still experienced a pretty noticeable pep in throttle response with the open box. I’ve been very pleased with the K&N set up. The vent cover has been on without any issue since this video was posted through a record setting snow last winter. I have a video that shows how to clean and oil the filter if you are interested. Finally, to your question of sound. I have found most CAI’s increase the sound and I can generally hear the intake click open when I hit the gas hard. I also do not run the plastic engine cover so I tend to hear more of the motor in general. I hope you get something you like, don’t hesitate to ask anything else you think of!
A tune will help you get maximum performance but it is not required at all. The cars computer will calibrate quickly to the new airflow and you’ll be enjoying extra power.
@@Cuppamoments Awesome! I hope you have a blast. Thank you for watching and commenting. If you have other pain points on the Durango, I’m always working on new areas to focus on for videos.
@@masterofbass1351 I put a Borla Catback on and really enjoy it! You can see that install in some other videos of mine. I think you'll like the kick in throttle response you get from the CAI!!
@@masterofbass1351 Ask as many questions as you need, I'm happy to help! I did not have this issue. The CAI has been on for a couple month now and maybe 3K miles without issue. Do you mean the intake tube itself is rubbing?
Hey. So I installed this myself and now it's time to clean my filter. It's super tight and I'm having trouble taking the filter off by itself to clean it. Any tips? I have a 20' durango.
