Thanks for video. I utilized Dorman 5047028 in lieu of Ford part, saved me $16. (The Dorman elbow is a tad shorter on but I noticed it draining properly nonetheless upon install). I used a Dremel to clean/remove the tabs/burs. Applied a thin coating of sealer and slid the elbow on. Applied the aluminum tape in a few layers to stabilize and secure. Wish I'd added a hose clamp but should be ok. Now pulling back carpet to let dry out in due time. Took me about 1.5hrs or less to complete, fender well removal and reinstall being most time consuming part.
Thank you for this short and to the point video. This is exactly what we were looking for. The dealer gave us a possible estimate of $1000 as they didn't really know what was wrong. After watching this we got the part for $15 and did the repair ourselves in a few minutes. Can't thank you enough for this great information!!
Great video! I fixed my 2019 virtually the same way; I did add a swath of silicone around the grommet( over kill), and I spent a long time wet vacuuming my carpet; it actually wicked all the way back to the rear carpet. Aside from replacing the carpet; drying it is the only way. I also used an electric leaf blower to help dry the carpet. I did not pull my front wheel, but did remove the wheel well liner.
I have the same problem with my 2019 F150. I figured that it was the condensation drain from past experience with a 2001 Dodge Dakota. Thanks for the tip on the fix.
"Ford knew nothing about the problem". I work at Ford Truck plant. Bought new F-series every generation since 1989. ALL of them had rear window leaks. My new one this year: rear window leak. Ford Dealership solution? "Park in Garage. Don't drive in the rain." Wow. Can't wait for the new Silverado.
I switched from Chevy to Ford this time. Chevy screwed me on a shitty transmission in my at the time brand new 2017 Z71 LTZ. Had a shuttering condition going on which was a known issue with the torque converter. Their fix was change the fluid. Well that got me to the expiration of the warranty before it got real bad. Then they said sorry, we can't do anything. This 2019 had a couple small issues I fixed but other than that, this truck has been the best one I've owned. At 140k miles and still running/driving strong.
That's how I found my issue. Wet under floor mat and highest point of moisture was that area in firewall where the AC condensation tube goes through. Thanks for watching!
@@219jello these ford mother fuckers better pay for this shit! I broke half the plugs getting the wheel well out and it required a 13/64 socket….Jesus h Christ can’t they just make it a 1/4 inch?!? Anyhow, I’m the interim I just used a small piece of wire around the plug so it grabs the water away from the firewall. I’m keeping the carpet and padding up and will bleach the underside. It’s obviously been leaking since the day I bought it. Thanks again bro!!
In the 4 months I've owned my '19 f150 super crew, I've had to get the panoramic totally gone through to eliminate the grab handle pee'ing on my while driving. I still have a wet driver side floor weeks after their "fix". They're charging me for another visit. They assured me they checked my transmission which has several times failed to go into reverse resulting in the truck rolling forward (backing up the driveway) and almost hitting my wife's car. I'm over $500 into FIXED and still have a wet floor. At least the transmission hasn't acted up since the last visit.
I did mine just by reach up from the bottom of the truck. No need to remove wheel or liner. Just reach up from underneath. The hardest part was filing down the tabs, so I just dremeled it and perfect seat
Old vid but same deal, pulled floor mat to vacuum everything and BOOM wet carpet, not bad mustve just starting. My old 99 dodge did the same thing ans was the same fix. Its the wind pushing the condensation back into the cab. At least dodge had a elbow with abhose from factory lol come on ford!
Finished the job yesterday. The worst part on my 2020 F350 was getting the front wheel well liners out, I have the plastic liners also. I think the worm clamp is the way to go.
water down in the wire channel in the 2018 f250 passenger side, I was driving during a thunderstorms and noticed water on my floor mats, could driving while it rains resulte in water getting in that condensation tube, pushing water back into the tube and causing it to leak in the truck?
Hey man! Thanks for the video. After a year has it still been good? Super hot right now so the AC has been on quite a bit and sure enough my passenger floor is wet.
My floor is getting wet on the passenger sidefront only..when it rains it happens..so I’m thinking it could be the windshield at this point but not sure and also going through a car wash
I have the same issue in my 2020 f-150. My appointment is tomorrow morning. I lifted up my weather tech mat and saw mildew so they’ll probably end up replacing carpet also. Did this repair fix your issue?
Yes it did. Easy fix and my carpet dried out fine. I lifted it up and vacuumed the bottom side of the sound deadening material. Then let th sun dry it. Probably should shampoo it but it seems fine
@@southerngrainz1264 I've been pretty lucky. Couple small issues but nothing big. Over 60k. Had more issues and major ones with my 2017 Z71. I love my Chevy's but that one made me try Ford
I have same problem 2019 ford F150 3 1/2 months at the dealer and they said fixed . I had the truck for 1 month and water is back . I am so frustrated with Issue and to make maters worse I am 600 miles from running out of new warranty !
I had the same issue and Ford fixed it for me but fast forward few months ago and now my A/C has a musty smell when you open the door and start it up. Got any advice? I got a 2020 Ford Raptor.
@@219jello Yes sir my carpet got pretty wet. It dried up a little bit but still had a bit of wetness to it. I don't know if I should pull the carpet up and check it out and then get it shampooed washed and steamed or not.
@@johnwick8138 I pulled mine up as much as I could and vacuumed out as much moisture as I could. Then I let the sun beat down on it as long as possible. Then I laid it back down and let the sun beat down on that side for a while. Eventually the smell was gone and still is
@@219jello I see. Thank you for replying. So if this is fixed by me it shouldnt affect or void any other warranty right. My vehicle is also a 2019 F150 with odo 37400 and it comes to a $1500 fix thru the ford dealer because "they need to dry the carpet inside".
A slow drip is always going to back up vs a steady stream. Looking at this video thr ac drain is a slow drip hence the back up into the cab...Manufacturer defect! I just got quoted $250 to fix it and that doesn't included mold removal just the part and labor. Looks like Ill be doing it myself. It's not covered because im 4,000 miles out of the bumper to bumper which is ridiculous because its been going on for over 4,000 miles and 2 its a manufacturing defect.
It's what Ford calls for. I think to protect from heat from the turbo and exhaust. It is heat tape. The elbow is on very tight so really don't even need a hose clamp
