Different classes though, but I choose the HR-V over the CR-V because it looks better to me, easier to park, still offers plenty of interior space, and is cheaper 🤙😎👍
I recently test drove the HRV and it drove pretty nice. I'm looking to replace my VW Tiguan and I would definitely get an HRV. The only draw back is it doesn't sit as high as a crossover should. It feels more like you're driving a car shaped like an SUV. But that was the only drawback for me at this price range.
The guy in the car next to you at the light (@16:00) watching you talk with your hands. 😎 Great and very thorough review. Thanks for helping me choose my next vehicle!
Don't get me wrong I love the car but I was used to driving a Toyota Corolla especially when merging on the highway I push on the gas and the acceleration was quick but with the HR-V it's not as quick. I figured because it's a bigger car than what I had maybe that's why but either way I still love my car. The acceleration is not as quick as a Corolla but its definitely better than FORD!
My husband and I are upgrading to a 2019 HRV From a 2015 Subaru Legacy. We had nothing but trouble with our Legacy. We are picking it up in a few days and are excited to finally be getting rid of our Legacy.
bought the 6-speed manual because, well.. that is what I prefer. Super quiet. Freaks people out when you pull up next to them. Smooth shift. Not a lot of power, but I did not buy it for that.
CVT transmissions take some getting used to. If you listen @14:33, you’ll expect to hear the typical volume drop and tone change of gears shifting, but it doesn’t happen because of the CVT. If you’re a jack-rabbit start kind of driver, you like to race, or you enjoy driving a manual transmission vehicle, you’ll probably dislike the CVT. If you enjoy a smooth ride and have the patience to get used to it, you might love it as much as I do. I’ve had three vehicles with CVT, but my current one doesn’t have it and I miss it quite a bit. One of the main reasons I’m considering the HR-V is because of the CVT. Good luck!
I love my HRV. I have a Jeep too and my hrv eats the the Wisconsin snow much better than my Jeep. Only downfall is the ground clearance my jeep is taller.
@@redxiii1810 Because he hates many newer vehicles and it does have a CVT transmission. I have a case of "Kilmerphobia" that any new car or truck I like will be trashed by Scotty Kilmer.
This was a great review, really helpful, thank you! I had a '99 CRV and I LOOOVED that car. Have a Jeep now, hate it. Going to buy either a CRV or an HRV this year, feeling like the CRV's now are bigger than what I want/need. I'm going to test drive an HRV this weekend now that I've seen this review. Looks like exactly what I need!
Good car for single young adult. My son just got one to drive back and forth to college. He's 6'4" and wishes for two more inches of driver seat legroom. He felt the same way about the driver's seat in the family's Kia Sorento. If you have a family the CR-V would be a better fit than this HR-V.
I like it a lot. I need more space than my 2005 Civic. Plenty of room for two adults, my dog and luggage, cooler and supplies for a vacation at the beach.
Of ALL the vehicles I’ve looked at for over a year & just came upon this one about a month or so ago~ It’s my fav. Will be giving up a Volkswagen Tiguan lease for this.Thank you again for a great review( just ran upon this 2019 video, after seeing your 2020.
Hello from Canada. Well I am a Honda fan for the past 30 plus years but my 2016 Honda HR-V is bad quality built. The fog lights lens are filled with some water. The rear doors actuators stop working and the bill is about $750.00 CAD to repair. As of now, the front driver door can not open from outside neither by remote nor sensor on door handle. Bluetooth stop working on android phone but ok with Iphone. The key detecting sensor intermittently display on dash. Car is under power. Last but not least, the day I picked up my HR-V from Honda dealer. The sun roof can not be closed and they have to bring it back inside to fix it before first time drive off the dealer. Will trade it in for new CR-V soon. Still love Honda car. May be it has to do with Mexican built I guess.
Thumbs up on the comment. However, my mom bought a 2018 HRV LX model. She has had the car for 1 year now, and she hasn't had any complaints at all with it. So maybe the Mexican plant got their bugs sorted out. I think you do take more of a risk buying the first year model of any car.
Yeah, you probably got a lemon. I have a 2019 and it run's fine. Was you car under warranty? I don't know where mine was built. Maybe Mexico or japan or the US or Canada.
The HR-V Touring is NICE with the full LED headlights, leather seats, and other bells and whistles, but I prefer the Sport, and plan to get one. Probably in Aegean Blue Metallic. It has bigger, nicer wheels, and the suspension might be more Sport tuned than the others, with the 18" wheels and tires. The Sport ground effects and fender opening surrounds are a nice gloss black. Overall, it is a great value for about $23K, similar to the Civic Sport Sedan. This HR-V Sport should come with that Civic 2.0L Non Turbo with about 20 more HP. It would be nice if the rear hatch chrome emblems were smoke tint like the hatch trim strip and front grille piece. The last thing I wish it had was the CD player they used to have available in the older HR-V. The new radio is updated, and upgraded, but still has the blank strip above the touch screen where the CD slot was on those models.
This is the best affordable no fuss car. Spacious inside. Safety features. Frugal. I owned a hand-me-down Fit before. This car is such a welcome to cater to my growth spurts. No wonder this is Honda best selling model in other countries.
got mt HRV yesterday almost new low mileage. For me it's plenty big, more style, and I'll get used to the power. I had a Turbo Nissan Juke for 9 years, but time to move on to my Last Car.
I don't know I enjoy the CRV a bit more though this does look kind interesting kind of like the Civic vs Accord just SUV edition where the CRv would be the accord in this scenario and the hrv the civic
Who would buy the HR-V Touring Edition? You might as well get the CR-V instead and not get the HR-V Touring. It's not like the HR-V Touring is such an upgraded car, the CR-V EX or EX-L is much better in power, amenities, more room, same MPG and the price is about the same, maybe a little higher for the EX-L. So do you want an ok car or one of the best cars out there?
My friend got this in the LED headlight top trim, very, very nice in all areas EXCEPT it is as low to the ground as cars for a SUV? Really its a Honda fit , even the rear seats are exactly the same! its just a lifted fit! For gas mileage you might want the fit..............
Car Play in 2019. Took way too long. The Civic got it 3 years ago, and even that was late. Same for the Fit. Love that exterior color. I wonder if the most popular/boring colors are so because they’re on the lot more
I have looked at a lot of reviews for this car but none of them compares to yours! I love it very much! You are doing a wonderful work and you are very thorough covering every aspect. Thank you!!
it competes with other sub compact crossovers by being bigger, roomier and more horsepower. But at that price point and sacrifice to fuel economy, you might as well get the CR-V.
Great review! Reminds me that my 70's CVCC was much more spacious and open on the inside than it appeared on the outside. Looking to repeat the love and experience of that car and anxious to test the HR-V. Thanks!
7:50...Paddle shifters not needed in a car like this??? You are so wrong. A lot of people say the HR-V is under powered. Thats WHY YOU HAVE THE PADDLE SHIFTER DUHHHH. If you like conservative driving, then just go with the regular “D” DRIVE mode. If you like some spirited driving, some fast acceleration, down shifting and the rest, go for the “S” mode and use the paddle shifters. Its like driving a manual transmission. And just so you know...the “S” mode selector also has 2 sports mode option. By holding the right paddle shifters in for 3 seconds, it will shift by itself from 1st to 4th gear only if you were racing aggressively. No need to touch the paddles in this mode. Read the manual my friend. But all in all great review on the body and interiors. And i don’t recall you showing the engine bay.
Yea i see your point. But maybe offering stick would be a better option. Yea I didn't for this car, I started to in my future videos. I haven't reviewed a 2020 HRV since there is almost no difference.
I'm a Honda person myself and everything else is really tempting about this vehicle. Sadly me and some other friends are inclined to purchase other more reliable brand of cars until Honda fixes it's fuel dilution problem. I wish they would asap.
@@shyb3rt Yes, those will last longer but before you buy MAKE SURE you have a compression test done for each cylinder to see if the engine is strong or has major wear or damage.
Honda needs to either give us a 1.5 turbo or a 2.0 dohc dual cam lobe(without the 3rd lobe for vtec) for this car. The euro version of the hrv already had the 1.5t, while were stuck with the 1.8 sohc. This thing is just not making enough paowa baby. I would so consider buying one if they had given us a different- more powerful engine.
I personally dislike those backdoor handles to an utmost level. They destroyed the side integrity. They cause inconvenient in rainy days. That sort of design is totally out of Japanese characters.
Why is the dashboard so old fashion ? It seems this car was made 20 years ago. Too bad, because modularity and reliability are the 2 strengths of this SUV.
I would say its simple no old fashion. Honda tried to keep the cost down with the HR-V because its catering to a crowd that wants a lot of utility for a low price. I believe Honda nailed it.
as of today , due to lease incentives and loyalty rebates I can lease a base CRV for just 20 bucks more a month than a base HRV . They need to find a way to make that price difference bigger otherwise people will just lease a CRV unless oil dilution scares them
Do you need to tow or race? I got no issues speeding into freeways and passing others easily as seen in my dash cam footage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AX7DKxYlI4g.html
@@SonyEnthusiast Hello my friend, your dash cam footage doesn't support your point. It is possible for an "under-powered" vehicle "easily" passing others provided the others not speeding.
@@cozyhome9927 here in California, there are a lot speeders. Trust me, I got no issues speeding into freeways and passing other speeders easily. They go 80, I go 90
We bought a 2017 HR-V for my wife and she is very disapointed. The engine is too loud, road noise is unacceptable, and it’s the slowest car we’ve ever had. When it’s parked in the garage in winter for 2 days, the battery dies. We replaced it’s battery twice in just 2 years. She traded it with a Tiguan to get rid of it. Honda’s quality is going down. Don’t buy this car folks. There’s nothing in it that will make you happy.
Do these newer hondas with the push button E brakes come with a manual mode incase your car has no power and needs to be put in E brake mode if something happened if it required it?
