My wife and I both now have EVs, and they are perfect for our needs, also have a home charger. For the last 14 years I've driven Jaguars (2005 S-Type SE and 2009 XJ Sovereign), both cars I enjoyed owning and a dream to drive especially the XJ . Bought a low mileage IPace HSE FE in January and again like my previous Jaguars a dream to drive, 260 miles range on a full charge and around £1.70 per 100 miles on the low overnight charge rate (E-On) whats not like!. What I hate to see on YT is so much negativity on how bad EVs are when it should be clear they may not be for all, they are for others, transparency is not something we see as much as we should on YT but you Barrie have it in abundance, thank you for telling it as it should be said, very refreshing..
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate how honest Barrie is? Barrie wants to sell you a car that's right for you! Not just any car will do. Very refreshing!!!
The IPace was ahead of its time really, just compare the Specs even now its still bang up there, Big Battery, Powerful but was £20K too expensive on release, great second hand though, bit different to a Model 3 Tesla for about the same money 3/4 years old.
Just picked up an early 20 reg HSE fully optioned with 40k miles and just £19,000! Originally £78,000. Corris grey with cream interior and pan roof, 20" wheels, air suspension. How mad is that. I've owned XFS, XFD 3.0 Portfolio. XES 300. F-Type 340 dynamic. XJ Premium. The I-Pace is every bit a jag as these. Space, Grace, Pace without question.
Barrie did I read that right , £28.19 to do 122.81 miles estimated . If so that isn’t exactly cheap most petrols let alone diesels would do more miles for the money. The acceleration from that jag does sound fun and I’m with you on Quentin Wilson never been a fan of him either especially his ignorance on Evs tyres brakes and so on.
Yes you read it right, if you charge at one of these stations it’s not exactly cheap, and it’s also not exactly convenient, fortunately for me I should only need to do it very occasionally as I can charge at work
Some early ones had issues that were prehaps sorted. The most publicised one was the driver who claims the car wouldn't slow from 90mph on the M62 and the police had to stop it my force. He was later arrested for dangerous driving...
If someone needs electronic gadgetry to reverse parallel park, I'd argue that they really shouldn't be driving on the public roads. Same goes for radar guided cruise control and lane keep assist. If you can't keep a safe distance from the car in front between two white lines, then you clearly aren't fit to drive.
The iPace is one of the very few EVs that is decent looking. But that’s about it. Still as much of a waste of space as all other EVs. What a tragedy a great marque like Jaguar have suicided on the (imaginary) altar of net zero.
