$52,0000 is alot of money! If you wanna offroad this is not the jeep to buy. I had 2011 Rubicon I absolutely loved it but I beat it up offroading. You can build one for offroading better and cheaper. If you want a pavement pounder you can still buy a sport and change something to make it what you want for way less. "Quadratic" sells every single part you could possibly want. But with all that said it's still a bad ass jeep.
Brian trerotola not everyone is handy with a wrench and some want to buy a ready to go warrantied vehicle. Just different strokes for different folks is all. I could discuss this all day but I could argue every angle of it. All depends on the individual situation you are in.
@@QuickShifts I just put it out there for the guys and girls that are handy. There's alot you can do without voiding your warranty? There's also alot of simple things that can be done by people not so handy? I loved my Rubicon but I had to make changes to get where I wanted it? $52 is expensive I just want people to know you can get more out of less Depending on what you want?
I don’t think your average person is going to buy a sport and swap in Dana 44 axles, lockers, sway bar disconnects. That’s kind of hilarious that you even think it’s that simple. Having a shop do it you’re looking at 15 grand in labor and parts at least.
@RhinoAg who said anything about a shop parts are not that expensive. Jeeps have gonna downhill. Valve jobs are a regular deal on them now ask around. Not to mention other issues and the price of jeeps now! Way to much money and give you less than everyone out there! I just bought a 4runner TRD PRO it's 10 x's more superior to my Rubicon in every way My wife crosstrek wilderness is about on par with a sport jeep and that 10 x's more comfortable and has everything you can think of and it's still less than a sport jeep that offers NOTHING! Not even power windows! Jeep has fallen way off! But I guess that why tjey let so many people go?
LOL! I can understand being nervous but they have been out for a little over a year now and I haven’t seen any horror stories posted yet. Seem to be holding up pretty well. There was a good deal of testing done on this engine, as there is any engine, prior to its launch. I think you have nothing to fear. 😉👍 Thanks again for watching and your comments. Much appreciated!
Great video. There are far too many subpar quality JL reviews out there. I'm really thinking about buying one. I like the look and size of the 2 door way more than the 4 doors. But I can't deny the practicality of the 4 door, so we'll see.
PinchTune appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching! Just hit one year with our Moab and still happy with it even with the few issues we had. I’ll have a one year video out soon to recap. I would recommend driving both as they do drive a good bit different.
@@QuickShifts Sounds good thanks. I'll check out more of your videos. I'll see about test driving both. I have a Tacoma Gen 3 extended cab that I don't intend to get rid of as I love it. So I'm trying to decide if I buy the Jeep as an expensive toy... or if I sell my wife's Subbie, and replace it with a 4 door Jeep.
@@QuickShifts Haha. Yeah, I think that's the way to go. She posed the idea of changing the truck for a 4 door, so I could get the 2 door Jeep. But I refuse to change the truck... not to mention starting over. I also don't want to pay tax again on two new vehicles. So the truck stays. So it seems that if we are to go the Jeep route, we'd be selling the Subbie and doing a 4 door Jeep.
Pantera Hernández Thanks for the kind words. They are offering some really good discounts right now. I bet you can get darn close to your target price.
Cats01 Reliability ranks are a good thing as it gives the industry something to be judged against and motivates them to do better. That being said, you also need to take it into context as it is an analysis of data. Many expensive cars have bad ratings, people still buy them though. I hope Jeep improves nonetheless, my ownership hasn’t been flawless, but I’m not angry about it either. What’s important is that they fixed my problems and quickly around my schedule. Customer service has made up for the downfalls I have encountered.
My wife and I bought a 2019 Jeep Rubicon 2door. We love it! It drives exactly like my 1985 CJ7, with mods. It was great at Windrock for the 20 or so miles we went. 6 cylinder engine. Great for short turn arounds. It has an 8,000 lbs Warn winch, the bumper was made fo r it.
Dr. Dan Knepper thanks for the reply! Glad to hear you are enjoying your 2 door and that you have it out on the trails. I also recently installed a Warn winch on my Jeep. Very happy with it although I’ve only used it to pull out bushes in the yard so far. 👍🏻
My experience owning one so far... Every ad, pamphlet, sales literature and even the sales pitch at the dealership revolve around it's off road capabilities. Yet doing things I did on a weekend basis with my 20 year old Wrangler TJ Sahara caused the yolk on the front inner axle to fail, taking out a ball joint and snapped an ear off of the now cheap aluminum steering knuckle. All on a brand new 2019 Wrangler JL Rubicon! First they tried to brush me off due to evidence of mud under the vehicle (for real?). The argument quickly escalated that I possibly hit something despite 0 damage on any other components. They wouldn't say I did hit something for sure, but since it was a possibility... they had an argument. It was also a possibility a part failed... just saying. When making it clear I couldn't be without a vehicle any longer and that I have to get it fixed, I asked if it needed anything else. They didn't know, as they didn't inspect it. They just saw it was broke and dirty and essentially just said nope unless I paid up. I was told they could see if anything aside from what they could see by looking behind the tire was broke, but I'd have to pay for a full inspection. At one point I was given the option to pay in "advance" to speed up the repairs and if the warranty kicked in, I'd be reimbursed. Ya, right... Being jerked around between the dealership and customer service, I took my jeep elsewhere to get fixed. Doing so apparently waived my right to complain anymore or receive compensation. But after 2 weeks of being without a vehicle... it had to be done. It turned into 3 weeks after everything was said and done. That's what 60k buys you! I've posted this a few times on Jeeps facebook page. Which are all deleted and I am blocked now from commenting. Guess your only allowed to tell people to go ahead and void your warranty work, it's fun!
Saw a rubicon tuber in Oregon desert, just easy dirt and sand, no crawling or anything, steps out to survey a campsite. Turned around and his Rubi was on fire for no reason, 30 miles from pavement it burned to the ground, reinforcing keeps reputation for unreliability. That's why I wouldn't go near any keep the most important part of off-roading to me is actually making back.
jupiter22177 that sucks! Hope they had insurance. Stuff happens though. Unless you know the cause for the incident you can’t jump to reliability issues. You don’t know if the person was at fault for some reason. Could have taken the oil cap off, oil spat up on the engine and ignited. Would that be the Jeeps fault or the person who left the oil cap off? Not many people would willingly admit a mistake like that either. Just saying.
Ooohh Buddy what are ya doing (bangs my head on desk😂) you gave up a 4 door rubicon for a dodge truck ?? What are ya thinking .. if ya need to haul stuff get a trailer dodge trucks are rust bucket junk (i have 2 completely rust out) since then my wife and i have had 4 Jeeps and never looked back our last one had 240k miles on it and the guy we sold it to said its the best running vehicle he ever owned burns no oil and runs perfect replaced the tranny @ 210k and besides that just normal stuff ,, ugh Dodge trucks good drivelines bit the rest is scrap,, just my opinion buddy good luck with it ...
PhatboyHD88 no worries, appreciate the feedback! I’ll cover all those questions in the reveal video for the Ram 1500. In short, this is why I chose the name QuickShifts. Last year, we went through 3 vehicles. We are always shifting around and always watching for deals. It’s our hobby. But we seem to always come back to Jeeps! 😉👍🏻 Stay tuned for the next video. It may not make it right since it’s partially a personal decision but we will explain it all.
With your experience do you recommend the manual or automatic...? Sorry for the broad question as I'm sure you can talk all day on that. I'm really tempted on the manual (saving $2K too) as I rented one overseas this way and it was a blast...!
Phil Pine if you are going to off road, automatic is easier. But manual is a blast if you are up to the challenge. This is definitely a personal question and to each their own. Let me put it this way, I keep building manual transmission Gladiators. You just can’t beat rowing through the gears even with all the convenience of an automatic. But I still love my automatic Moab.
zachary elliott there is more room than you think. But it is a tiny baby Jeep! After owning the 4 door, it would be hard to go smaller. However, after off roading the 4 door and seeing the 2 doors make it look that much easier, it makes you want one. Definitely some trade offs there. Yeah, they aren’t cheap. Jeep does seem to be doing some discounting now though. Benson has given us some good deals. Even as expensive as they are, I never regret buying a Jeep. They are just so much fun and everyone always wants to ride in them.
Jeep Life71 yeah, my Jeep is my daily driver. I have to fit my work stuff in there, pick up groceries, take my son to school, dogs, luggage when I travel. I have to do a lot of things with it. I don’t have it as a dedicated weekend crawler. I do like creature comforts and I work hard to be able to enjoy such things. I know very much about the heritage of Jeeps. I know that when Jeep released the four doors all the purists through a fit, yet it outsold all previous version and was a huge success largely accountable for the brand still being around today. The 4 door largely outsells the 2 door. I’m sorry this upsets you, I’m sorry I upset you. Let’s grab a beer sometime and you can tell me more about Year’s gone by. I’d love to hear your stories.
@@QuickShifts I can appreciate these interpretation Jeeps keep the brand going. And I've seen some good builds on the 4 door Wranglers and are solid. But they aren't for me.
Miguel Gonzalez 50 grand for a Jeep is just not right by no means !!! I love my 2010 Wrangler , that little SOB will go anywhere and beyond , but I’ll be raped and ass fucked by the devil , before I come up with that kind of Ching “A”ling , for a damn ol’ Jeep !! I love em’ but that is just stupid money , for something that is made so simple !! They are by no means made cheap , Jeep Wrangler is a very well made vehicle , but they are a simple made vehicle , kinda like a tank , but fuck that , 40 is a far fetch from home , but 50 is just a fucking stupid ass tag , I would walk first before paying that !
@@westvirginiahellbilly8124 He got ripped off. Spending money for a package. I got a 2014 4-door for less than half this amount and it's doing me good.
Liberty Stuff'n'Things Reviews Thanks for watching and commenting! It makes sense if you have your heart set on an aftermarket bumper I guess. Some of the fun with owning a Jeep has been with modding it and making it your own. But personally, I’d never leave it with just a plastic bumper unless it was strictly a mall crawler, but then why get a Rubicon? To each their own I guess.
@@QuickShifts my Recon came with the steel bumpers and the front was winch ready. Has a Warn tucked in nice and neat! You are welcome. I look forward to seeing more.
Cash Only that is a loaded question only you can determine. I would need so much more info to even begin advising you on that! Haha! If you are looking for the best off road, 2 door Jeep all the way. If you want a better daily driver, the Toyota may be a better fit, if you don’t mind the dated interior. Jeeps have their quirks, as do Toyota’s. Both have really good resale. I love my Jeep, I stand by the quality of Toyota. Again, I could go back and forth all day. What are you really looking for and what is most important to you? Let that lead you down a path.
I guess only time will tell. I was close to buying a Recon, but went a different direction because of this engine. I believe it will hold up as I have faith in engineering, but my wife said no. Haha!
Car Story yes, yes they are both a big toy and very expensive. But so much fun that we pay it. I do not regret it though. I wouldn’t recommend paying sticker price for one either though.
The two door is great as you say for whipping into parking spaces. This short wheelbase works great on the trails too. I have been behind JLUs that had to back up to get around a turn where, in my two door, you just whip around it.
Stan McDaniel absolutely agree. We watched the two door Jeeps bounce right through some obstacles at Jeep Jam that the longer wheelbase Unlimited Jeeps got hung up on. It was very eye opening.
Putting a Turbo on petrol engine takes away all the advantages of it over a Diesel. It makes the Engine more complicated, more parts to brake and more money spent on repairs and maintenance. I agree this Jeep doesn't sound like a Jeep, it sounds like a lawn mover. And than you revv a cold engine...
what advantages does a small naturally aspirated gas engine have over a Diesel engine? Adding a turbo is basically one assembly that is fairly easy to maintain as unless it fails, there is no added maintenance. Diesel is far more expensive and that is not off set by maintenance cost on a turbo.
@@QuickShifts it does because it takes a lot of kilometres until you need to change the expensive parts of a diesel. With NA petrol you'll never have to worry about anything other than spark plugs (outside regular maintenance). If you plan to sell after a year or two than it's the next owners problem, but if not. Diesel is more reliable and fuel efficient, if you're getting a 4 cylinder with a turbo, get a diesel. Having a 2 litre engine in a vehicle this heavy is a bad idea in the first place anyway.
@@QuickShifts Thanks for clearing it out! I realize it's been several months now, since you own the jeep...given the alternative, would you trade in for a V6 or the Turbo is a great enough engine for the two door? I appreciate your reply!
vastedad I felt the turbo did a good job in the two door. But in the 4 door I prefer the v6. I still have my Moab unlimited today and I am very happy with the V6 it has. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Appreciate it!
ThE AsD we didn’t get the chance to take the top off, but with the top on it was identical to the 4 door unlimited. Same as our white rubicon was. Check out the tire noise video I put out and you’ll be able to witness it first hand.
Well at least it's a 2 door but all that fluff bells and whistles for the new wave pansy jeep drivers. Go back to your prius. Jeep is getting further and further away from being Jeep with all the 4 door limos. Do you know what they call a million 4 door Jeep Wrangler limos at a salvage yard about to be crushed into a Campbell soup can? A good start!
Jeep Life71 love you purist point of view. I respect that. But, why not advance with technology? I bought a 2004 GTO brand new, dropped an insane amount of time and money in it to race and have better power and handling. Now you can buy your choice of cars making the same power or more and that likely handle better as well. Am I angry? No, not a bit. I’m glad the industry is advancing and getting better. I’m glad cars are getting better and faster. They day is not far away when somebody is going to rule it unsafe and take it all away so we can all have autonomous forms of transportation. All electric, computer driven. All purest will die a little. But I salute you. Have you driven a Roxor? It’s basically exactly what you say you love. Back to the basics like the original Jeep. I got to drive one at Jeep Jam and it was a blast. Wouldn’t give up my modern Jeep, but would make a great off road toy to play with.
