I've seen some INSANE stuff with longbow, there are genuinely some archers that shoot double this distance and only get inside the red with LONGBOW, it gives me shivers!
I don't get why it's called bare bow... Call me crazy, but shouldn't a bare bow be just that? Bare? No rest. No stabilizer. Just a bow shot from the shelf? It's a wild and crazy idea I know.
Those shots are hard enough to make as is. I shoot a traditional horsebow without shelf or any aids and have to tell ya hitting a 20x20 square from 35 meters takes skill and practice.
Why do you need a women's class in this day and age of equality? Feminists have been very vocal about the fact that they can do everything as good as men can... better even.... Everybody should compete the in same event against each other equally regardless of age, sex, or gender identity. Anything less is lowering the bar, and encouraging and enabling inequality.
I don't think indoors it matters all that much, but outdoors it certainly does. Women usually shoot lower poundage than men, which makes it a lot harder to consistently shoot at 90m/100yd (the longest distance in outdoor competitions), and they normally shoot slightly shorter distances instead.
Open compund... 11... 11... 11 Barebow... 10... 7.... 9 Theres more excitement in barebow, but it takes a special person too shoot a 132 there at Lancaster
Every American Archery club has a Spanky. The guy that shoots only barebow or some expensive trad one-Piece, has a military boonie or bucket hat with lapel pins everywhere, nice as hell, and just smokes everyone in club.
I wonder if you could take a technical point from professional Darts on TV - Split screen. Show the shooter and the target side by side instead of cutting back and forth... maybe?
Only thing I didn't like was the structure; that is...Spanky was shooting and winning, but anyone who shoots trad can tell you your consistency starts to wane after a couple dozen arrows, and the competition was fresh. By the time Michael got up there Spanky was probably feeling the fatigue, big time.
I shoot field and Old English clout, barebow is the way I came into Archery, school gyms and sports fields basic Archery. Love the concept of barebow competition, you are only as good as your form, under pressure archery shows your own self how to shoot your own way when relaxed. Real showdown stuff, golden bow medieval tournaments maybe?
@@landiemeyer1913 Ummm..... No. We wait for promoting traditional archery. But they can't cash in so much by selling this riser, and that plunger and another rest... So they probably won't...
I really can’t stand the forced enthusiasm. Archery doesn’t need to become the Steve Wilkos Show to appeal to wider audience. I’ve been waiting for the barebow video from the Lancaster Classic. It’s odd not to see Demmer in the finals! It’s nice that barebow is getting more and more archers showing up to compete. With any luck, maybe barebow will attract some sponsors to support this discipline of the sport.
3:23 “This is proof that this is not a young man’s sport” Y’ALL SRS? Sorry, I’m not usually this easily irritated, but for some reason I feel the need to defend “young men” in this. These guys have been shooting for YEARS. Most of the “young men” have more recently just started, a year or so tops. I give credit to the older generation for being able to stay consistent at the age they’re at, but don’t underestimate the younger gens.
You're not hearing what he's saying. All he's saying, is that in this sport, being young does not mean you win. He's not saying just because you're young, you're not going to win. Could he of worded it better? Yes he could, but you're misinterpreting what he meant.
Gap shooters, three under, with purpose made bows you would never hunt with. Lets see some real archers with true bare bows, split finger instinctive with hunting weight arrows, then I will be impressed.
So after reading your comment, I checked your profile for your archery videos showcasing your immense skill. Shockingly, I found none. To that end I would encourage you to demonstrate your abilities next year at the 2020 Lancaster Archery Classic in the barebow division. And fyi, plenty of folks hunt barebow with ILF recurves.
This is a barebow event with bows made for target shooting. The archers use anchoring techniques designed to work with barebow target shooting. It is not a hunting competition or instinctive archery. None of these very "real archers" care if you are impressed or not.
He probably has, if I ever got as good as him I'd find it hard to ignore the competitive side of the sport. Alot of these competitions get little media attention so he could of been in hundreds and we wouldn't know unless he told us, kinda sad really.
not to sound ignorant, but why does this category need a womens bracket? Lina and crew are competitive with the top 4 here. I kinda like that men and women compete regardless in this category. Just my opinion, there are likely factors I am not seeing. Also not trying to make an equality debate i just think that the one category containing all sexes and ages and the same rules is really neat.
Great tournament Lancaster. Great to see Fishers sportsmanship too. It's really admirable. I can't help but be curious about what kind of accuracy they'd get over longer distances, like say 50 metres. Fantasic archery.
The top guys at 50 meters on an 80cm face are round 580-640 in practice and 540-600 on good weather competition days. For the 122cm it's 660-680 and 640-670 respectively
I thought Lancaster meant it was going to be in England. Then all the "whoa, yaaaaay" kicked in. LOL Oh, and "this is insane". And that's all before anything happened.
I learned archery with a bare bow hunt with a bare bow. where do I sign up? I practiced relentlessly until it became second nature. I could put 4 out six in a match book at 20 yrds. When I was 16-17. I pull my bow out now like once a year. I can hold easily a 10 inch circle. Where is this competition?
Today is the last day of early registration for the Lancaster Classic. It will be held at spooky nook near Lancaster PA. Go to Lancasterarcherysupply.com scroll down click on the classic and check out the registration. Hope to see you there. Happy shooting. 💪
Great to watch, up here in Canada a reporter or announcer would be told to shut up for interrupting the concentration of the archers during competition.
What I don't get is, why didn't they do it like a normal knockout tournament? If Spanky Brooks had won the second match, that would have meant he'd have played three straight games. Surely that's unfair because his arm might be tired compared to the fresh man. Seems a stupid way to do it.
David Elstob These matches are the finals. That means in a normal knockout format, Spanky would have won his first match and finished 7th. He’d be done. He couldn’t advance. The way we do it, the bottom seed has a chance to win it all, but he has to shoot his way past the higher seeds. Archers love our format because the know they just have to make it to the finals and they have a chance to win.
@@LancasterArcherySupply Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching it and realised this is the finals. Just the format seems strange, but if it works then fair enough.
The additional weight help offset the weight drag on the string and the disparity between the centre of balance on the bow and the drawpoint. With string walking it has a greater distance too. Arrow length has a role too but it's all about equalizing the weight balance without rods.
Everyone is getting so hyped and astonished, but barebow is how bows have been shot for tens of thousands of years. There's nothing crazy about it. Try it out long enough for your brain to understand it and you'll probably love it.
bearded archery you’d probably have to show adequate numbers of people shooting that style before it would be considered. Barebow Recurve is the fastest growing style in archery at the moment. I’d guess Barebow Compound is the fastest dying style. So it’s unlikely you’ll get a class but anything is possible I guess. Good luck!
I agree, that's why hit thy dislike button! The shooting is great, but I quit watching only a third of the way because of all the nonsensecal chatter.....sounded more like a commercial than a tournament!!!
Oi oi oi. Good job mate, made Australia proud. Time to get the old recurve out. I'm shooting bare tomorrow like when I was a kid. Compound can take a backseat for a while.
They really should be wearing eye protection, I've had bows break at full draw and the arrow dug a hole in my forehead right between the eyes. I was lucky.
