You DO NOT BUY a Land Cruiser for its buttons or features. People buy them for their phenomenal reliability and off road abilities. THANK YOU for covering the details like towing capacity and approach and departure angles. Most folks won’t care about this minutia, but when it matters, IT MATTERS!

Land cruiser is made to last 25 years while other cars are made to last 10-15 years thats why land cruiser has less feautures thats why its one of the most reliable vehicle in the world

God it looks amazing. One day I’ll have one... it may have 200,000 miles in 2030 but hell, I need this car 😩

The things you described as being cons are what I actually LOVE about the Land Cruiser. It's a straight forward, no bs, in your face man's ride. I'm not interested in all the electronic gadgetry. It's a durable, reliable, versatile, go anywhere, do anything vehicle. In terms of style or design, I LOVE the way it looks. For MY taste, it's perfect. I bought an 05 Sequioa last year after looking extensively for a Land Cruiser because I couln't find one that met all my requirements. If you aint happy with that Land Cruiser, I'LL take it. LMFAO!!!!!!!!

Gotta be honest. I'd rather have the old Land Cruiser, but as new.

LX 570 is the king of SUVs. I loved reviewing the 2019...even though it's the same as a 2016!

Not sure about you guys but I can live without all the new fancy tech. I rather get a 08 model in new conditions and save thousands of dollars.

My 2018 feels like it’s made from a solid piece of HEAVY metal. It’s not perfect, but it’s been unstoppable (just light off-roading so far) with a proper set of tires (KO2s) and I look forward to trying some more challenging terrain soon. It also feel likes it will run for a long time. Does not feel brittle or overly reliant on technology the way many other SUVs do these days. It’s old school for sure, but sometimes the old ways are the best ways.

The LC is a beast. The LX is a luxurious beast. However, the LC will always have my heart!

i prefer the old styling over the updated lexus, and actually the land cruiser always look better than the lexus to me.

Lexus front is tolerable because the vehicle is so good, but I'd still say ugly.

It's a decade between the two.

More SUVs should be made like the Land Cruiser

Land Cruiser is built for last, not fashion. Auto doors blah things compromise longevity. I don't judge it whether a LC has latest 40" retina screen or not bc it simply doesn't need any decorations on top of a diamond.

How can you even compare what’s inside with that many years between the both of them. Obviously interior will change and become better.

Thanks to 2 factors (the Land Cruiser hasn't seen a new model in a long time, AND Lexus uses Toyota platforms for their SUVs), these two vehicles are much more similar than some would assume at first glance.

Hey Tommy, Great video. Got to give some love to Toyota for keeping a laser focus on what customers value instead of chasing rabbits. Its platform strategy is world class.

Lexus is nice looking but I would go the LC200 way. Owning several LCs, I can tell you they are solid, reliable and dependable. My current daily driver is the 150 series 2017. Lovee it.

My sister in Glenwood recently gave up the same Landcruiser....oh it was a 2001 and she was a bit torn as they got a 2016 Forester for their long haul trips to Portland to see their kids...adult kids. It did ride like a Lexus and the overall room was limited. I think they sold it with 200,000mile and average MPG was 16...Forester loves long trips and they're averaging 29!!

Lexus has the best seats I’ve ever set in. Everything feels heavy and solid and bulky. I just wish it would take regular gas and do at least 20mpg average

I had a 2003 Toyota land cruiser, and loved it, until I tried a mishubichi Pajero, I live in Norway, so I need a good car in everyday life, and the Pajero was so mush better in the snow. You should try it.

I got my eye on a GX 460, but this LX is pretty rad too.

Too trendy for me. I like my '02 Sequoia Limited just fine. I upgraded the 6 disk CD radio with a cheap nav/bluetooth/back-up camera. All the tech I need.

Had a buddy considering one a while back and I seem to remember that one. Which is also part of why the land cruiser starts at less than 1k under the Lexus...

4:18 I don't feel like that electric tailgate is an improvement. I takes literally 2 seconds to open the Cruiser's tailgate. With the lexus you have to stand there for 5 seconds like a total noob until the tailgate is open. Both are immensely capable though. Cheers

Height adjustable suspension equals additional potential points of failure. I'll take reliability over adjustable ride height any day.

I'll take the LC! In fact, that is what will replace my lifted GX470 once I wear it out. At 200k now so will be a few years yet ;)

I'm looking to trade my gx in for a 200 series Toyota or Lexus, '13 or newer..... The turn assist looks nice!

If I could have the Lexus with literally everything except that front grille, I'd take it. I hate that divergent grille more than pretty much any other on the market.

pre-2013 lx570 > pre-2013 Land cruiser -LX features galore -LX robust ahc capable of meeting 90% of offroad duties -LX cheaper then LC's due to volume -LX garage/dealer maint. queens -LX non-predator grille ruining approach/departure angles. 2013-15 land cruiser > post 2013 LX570 -LX got the predator grille -LC got all options as standard (HIDs, AC seats, + many more) 2016+ LC > no more competition LC got that really nice front grille which makes a big difference appearance, it doesn't look like the frumpy one that TFL has (frumpy was a dig at 100 series styling from TFL, so payback to TFL haha!)

Just remember you don’t drive around off road with the suspension at its highest setting - the ride will be too hard and you’ll have less wheel travel. You turn it on when you need to clear an obstacle then put it back to normal after.

This Isn't an old LC.. I just bought my husband a 1994 (80 Series) Land Cruiser for his birthday, because it was his dream off roader and between the 2 of us we bring in almost 7 figures annually, so there was no reason he couldn't have had one long ago lol.. The 80 Series is an old Land Cruiser lol.. Also this title is too vague.. Better at what?.. Off road? On road? 0-60? Top speed?.. Simply asking which is better is a question that is extremely subjective... The LC of that generation is as comfortable on road as it is capable off road, making it a better vehicle because the LXs design is purely intended as a road car with a bit of off road capability.. The LX lacks approach angles that the LC has and requires some modifications to match the LC off road... I owned both, and leased the LX thinking I was simply getting a more luxurious LC with the LX.. I was extremely upset with the LX, being a person who loves adventures in hard to reach places.. The bumpers on the LX were not meant for approach or departures on trails beyond minimal rating.. My 2010 Toyota LC can go where 4Runners and Tacomas can go, and was only ever lifted a inch or 2.. Also these vehicles are a decade apart.. Different tech.. Show us same year comparisons

If ICON has a suspension upgrade for the 2008 LX570 then I’m getting it!

They’re both reliable, I like the landcruiser it’s more rugged, LX is more high end with shitty approach and departure angles. I myself am saving for a 2013-2015 LC. I also like that the new LC’s don’t have the active height control where you lift the truck with the press of a button, I prefer fixed suspension which the 200 series have moved to.

That 2019 Lexus 570 approach angle does not look too impressive.

If I had the money it would be the Lexus everyday of the week. Toyota has managed to take an old shared box chassis with the 200 and make it a completely different ride. That being said, I think I'll keep my old 08 LC and the LR4.

I just don’t like the way that the lexus looks. The older land cruisers just look better. I’m a sucker for boxy cars, so the 90s land cruiser was even cooler
