BTS is on a level where every K-pop groups are trying to avoid them since 2016 and I’m not exaggerating. NO ONE will release a song the same day with bts and this is a fact. Korean news even reported about it lol no one wants to go against bts. No one. They are in a level of their own which almost every K-pop agency are trying to create “the next bts” but too bad they can’t replicate bts and armys. Forbes reporter Hugh McIntyre said that if you want to be successful in America, the artist that you should collaborate is BTS. Just imagine selling out those stadiums-a 4day concert (200K+ tickets) was sold out in less than 6hrs and during presale that the general public didn’t even get the chance to purchase tickets. These guys are worth $5B a year to South Korean economy that their former President, their ambassadors and diplomats have said BTS are South Korea’s greatest artist of all time and that BTS is one of Korea’s greatest achievement after the Korean language and democracy. Period.
Bts don’t have competition. Kpop wasn’t this huge until bts start getting famous in west. Bts has achieved 1000000 time more than any other kpop group everrrr. They have performed and win in billboard, ama , Grammy and UN. None of the kpop group ever have achieved even a single of it. Korean award like mama is nothing to them at this point of their career. They are idols of idols in korea

Fyi, in terms of performance they're not competing anymore with other Kpop groups, They have already won artist of the year at AMAs in the US & 6#1s in more than a year on BBHot100, the only Asian act & group to do that since the Beatles. I don't think u grasp how huge they are in the world and not just in Korea. They arent in the same level anymore, have u seen how many songs is given to them? They are now record holders of the grand prizes annually, all kill, meaning all major awards is won by them. They are more nervous to perform in Grammys, Billboard's, AMAs as compared to Mama but they always perform as if it's their last performance live. Best live performers ever. Theyre beyond other Kpop groups now, they are the biggest band in the world not just Kpop. They have broken some of MJ's, Celine Dion's, Adele's record already. U need to watch their introduction before u go deeper as u still have difficulty recognizing their faces every video.
This is 2019. They just performed in huge stadiums around the world-- including Wembley, Rose Bowl, Metlife, this is nothing to them. Theres no "pressure" and there is certainly NO competition 🙄 theyre the STAR of this show.

watching this performance i suddenly remembered how SM and YG stopped sending their kpop idol groups to MAMA and MMA because started winning. bts started winning major awards on these award shows since 2016 and that made big companies insecure alot. This performance includes 2 songs NO and We are bulletproof pt 2 which are their old bts songs which they weren't able to show on award show as they didn't got much time screen because they were not big group or from big company. That's why they decided to show others that they now have power to perform their old songs now in 2019 .
honestly, none of these annual award shows held in korea are "'huge" for bts, not since 2018 when they began selling out 60,000 capacity stadiums in seconds like it's nothing, so i doubt they were that nervous. i can't wait until you watch their actual concerts and find out just how huge bts are themselves

i don't think they will realise that because every bts video i see of them they keep comparing it to other kpop group. someone tell them BTS wins every major award in south korea and that pissed big companies and hence exo , blackpink , NCT and many SM, YG groups don't attend award shows.
Why bring up other groups? Their decision whether to attend award show have got nothing to do with BTS. We are proud of BTS but lets not be too cocky about it.
i don’t know if you guys understand the sheer level that bts is on. they’re untouchable to the rest of the kpop industry. their 2020 album, map of the soul: 7, reached 4 million preorders worldwide, when in comparison, the other biggest kpop groups reach 1 mil or less. i have nothing against other groups but no one has reached even 2018 bts’s level yet. in just 2018 they became the youngest recipients of the korean Order of Cultural Merit, awarded by the president himself. they swept all 4 grand prizes at the MMA 2019 and have been artist of the year since 2016. there’s certainly no competition between them and other kpop groups.
Jhope is such an incredible dancer and performer. I get goosebumps every time I see his dance breaks, he is ahead of Kpop. And also old BTS was something else, I missed their HipHop style alot.
I commented this on the original livestream too, but yeah, MAMA is definitely not a huge stage for BTS. It is for other kpop groups, but not for BTS. These award shows literally schedule their shows based on BTS’s schedule. If BTS isn’t available, they’ll move their award show dates in a heartbeat :) I think other people have pointed it out too, but you may just need a bit more time to understand that BTS are literally at the top of the industry. Having snatched the major award prizes at South Korean award shows, including MAMA and MMA, for years in a row now. I'm sure all artists, even veterans, will always be nervous when they will perform anywhere.. but what needs to be *underlined* is that here, they are already global superstars.. their nervousness is not because they are performing at the "MAMA Show" but more about the concept of the performance they will present ..don't mean to be rude, but MAMA's stage is not what makes them nervous.. because here, at that time they already have become a group that is highly respected by other groups..and they won all the grand prize awards.
This wasnt a big deal for them as you say because they have been performing at Mama since the beginning and won first daesang in 2016 at MAMA :) They were veterans ontop of the game and the KPOP scene for a while by this point!

2019 BTS were already selling out stadiums around the world (Rose bowl, MetLife, Wembley) with 60K + in attendance so MAMA is not a big stage for them at this point. These 2 are throwback songs -- We are Bulletproof pt 2 was from their first album (along with No More Dream) and N.O. from their 2nd, both released in 2013.

FYI now major award show will match their schedule with BTS it's not BTS who follow the award show schedule. The award shows will compete to take BTS to their show and give them 30+ minutes of screen time (performance & VCR) because BTS is the one who will give them the highest rating, BTS is not only contested by Korean year-end events but also year-end events in the US so inevitably the event follows the schedule owned by BTS not the other way around. but it wasn't always like this in the early days BTS wasn't even invited or recognized by award shows, now they're the main characters. Also, everyone has already said it, but BTS profited their label more than the big 3 entertainment labels (Blackpink, Big Bang, IKON, EXO, Red Velvet, Twice, etc) combined in 2019. There has been no competition in kpop as of about 2018 for BTS.
